This guy may not be a sack master, but he will disrupt and put pressure on the QB while doing a good job against the run.
Hard to hate on the pick

I can't help it be underwhelmed. This guy is not going to be the sack master and pressure the quarterback guy we need. Seems like he's Shaq Lawson 2.0.
I'll take Shaq Lawson 2.0 all day at pick 54...especially when we need young guys at the position.

This Dline is gonna be fresh with guys rotating as much as I think they will...

Too much risk if season goes south due to injuries/unforeseen circumstances for me to pull the trigger on such a deal.

9 wins is winning the division. The Bills could be a better team than last year and have less wins. Our schedule was joke last year and we caught every break. This is the real test of how far the process is. If they get double digit wins and Allen improves against this schedule (obviously it’s early but it does seem harder), I will be fully invested in the process.
So you're not fully invested at this point???

How dumb are the Jags to not take the 19th pick for this guy?
I'd consider that a huge win given his contract demands and unwillingness to play for them.

So I read the article, and I also read the Q and A with Kim.
Seems like the writer is looking to bash them from the way it's written.
There's some stuff that doesn't look good, for sure. I've always hated the nepotism garbage, but it's pretty much SOP for these big companies.
Bottom line for me is don't let it affect our Bills!
Hopefully they learn from the mistakes like Kim claims...they get their house in order, and this fades away once the country gets back to business as usual.

Just draft BPA, Beane!

I think through The Drought years, stretching into today, the Bills have continuously brought in the weakest backups imaginable to prop up their starters.Kelly Holcomb, Jeff Tuel, Tyler Thigpen, Derek Anderson, Gilbran Hamdan, Brian Brohm, Matt Cassel, Thad Lewis, Kevin Kolb (I know signed to be the starter), talking Kyle Orton out of retirement, Nate Peterman and now Matt Barkley.
If they signed Winston right now, they know there would be a QB controversy, so while I think McDermott cares about competition, the FO purposely keeps the bar on the floor for Josh Allen to jump over.Part of me agrees with this.
I believe in Allen, and I think he would be even more motivated (if possible) to seperate himself from the other guy...whoever that may be.
I think we are doing this team a disservice by not having a backup that can win games and possibly push the starter.
This team is too good and too deep to be let down by the QB position.

We do put resources in the defensive line. We signed 3 this offseason and drafted Oliver with our first pick last year.
It doesn't matter if it's a big contract to a corner, defensive end, WR etc.....the salary cap hit is still the same.
So your'e saying it didn't make sense that the Pats paid Gilmore?
I don't see how you don't think corner isn't a premier position when the NFL is a passing league. If corner wasn't a big deal, then you wouldn't see them taking early consistently in the draft and you'd just rely on them in the later rounds.
In McDermott's system, I believe it's easier to find corners that can play their part in a zone based scheme.
That being said, Tre White has above average ball skills and instincts, and is also solid playing man.
He's a valuable piece, but I could see the argument being made to eventually move on from him at a certain price with a replacement being groomed.

Best zone CB. Not sure about man-to-man CB...
And this is where I truly question his value in this scheme.
Remember McD also had Norman who was shut down in Carolina, and they let him walk cause they didn't value him at the money he was seeking.
Tre is great, and has great ball skills. With that said, I wonder if Beane and McDermott do not see his value as high as others here do, and that they may eventually let him go.
Just something I've thought about...

I don't know, man. This is a weird crusade. No one in the NFL thinks Diggs and Cooks are the same talent level. Cooks is somewhere in between Brown and Diggs. Good player. Not a #1 like Diggs is.
I'd honestly rather have Brown than Cooks at this point considering the money and injury conerns.

If Tre White decides he needs to go somewhere else (I don't believe this FTR), then he doesn't buy I'm here and fit the culture, so I would shop him in that case.
Not that I want that, but if he really wanted to go somewhere else and further his career, I would understand.

Boy...this JaCrispy guy is always in on Allen threads being a downer.
What's up with that, my dude????

I agree that I don't see a ton of hate on these boards in regards to Allen. What I do see is a ton of hate by media...particularly ESPN.
It's fine to have doubts still, and I can understand why some would. He shows inaccuracy at times, and his deep ball wasn't very good. Those are things that will draw criticism and rightfully so.
But I look at it from the perspective that he wasn't in a good college program...as evidenced by his first season with Bills compared to his second season. What we saw was clear evidence that a solid coaching staff can help him make major strides.
So with that in mind, and the belief that improvement should continue...especially with upgrades to his line and receivers, let's look at the other parts of his game like his toughness and running ability. He's a serious goal line and short yardage weapon. He's a leader on and off the field, and he is determined to work to improve his game.
So while some see the flaws and hold onto the narrative that was given to him coming into the league, I see a kid that should only get better and that has given me no reason to believe he will not continue to get better and lead this team to a championship.

I think lots of them could end up better than Diggs in a few years, but for the 2020 season, Diggs is what Josh Allen and the Bills needed. This is our year, and Josh Allen and the Bills needed a sure thing at WR, and Diggs gives that to them. I think that they’ll add a WR in the draft as well, to build on the WR group though.
Lots of them?
Not a chance, my friend.

There's also sentiment out there that Hopkins is losing a step and his practice habits are less than ideal, while Diggs is an extremely hard worker.
Just what I've seen reported...

That guy was putting up historic numbers at the start of his career. He didn’t start a game as a rookie, and he had 14 sacks. He had 19.5 sacks his second season. He might be the best pass rusher in history. That’s not hyperbole. He just couldn’t get out of his own way.

I think it's funny Sanders took exception to the Bills going for Diggs just 30 minutes after he told them he'd think about it. LOL!
Says alot about him to me.

Does he make it out of TC without getting injured?
It's only a matter of when, not if with this guy.
Not a big fan of bringing in oft injured players, but we'll see what we get from him...

So until Allen gets an elite WR we shouldn’t expect him to complete deep passes at a respectable rate? I thought he was better connecting deep as a rookie with worse receivers than he was last year.
I’d like for everyone to do their job well, including Allen. I’ll look at Allen in a different light when he’s consistently good. Until then, I’ll just keep riding this emotional rollercoaster.
I can buy into him not wanting to risk an INT as a reason for all the bad overthrows. McD loves to preach ball security. But damn, hitting on those deep balls can be game changers. I’m sure we missed out on several TDs as a result of the missed deep balls.Deep balls are the one pass that I'm ok with Josh leaving up enough for both the WR and the DB to make a play on it. It's basically a punt if the DB gets it, but it's huge if our guy comes up with it.
If Allen was throwing the deep ball with the intention of defenders not having a chance to make a play on it, then I think that's the wrong way to look at it.
Give your guy a chance. If the defender is somehow able to make a play on it, oh well.

This kid loves punishing the defense and watching them give up late in games.
That is a beautiful thing!
