Why so low on Palmer? Maybe you’ve explained previously, but I missed it. The guy knows how to get open. I don’t why how anyone could out Keon over him (and I like Keon more than most). Palmer is a MUCH better route while also being faster. Similar hands
You either don't like Keon, or you overrate Palmer.
People can tell me that Palmer gets open all they want, but the production just isn't there, and him being pushed out of the starting lineup also speaks to him not being as good as you and others here claim.
I think Palmer is a bust signing by Beane and that his production will not justify the contract we gave him.
Keon has a much better chance of actually being more productive in this offense

They should've just signed Moore instead of that absurd contract that they gave Palmer.

I'm pretty sure his separation numbers were top-5 in the league. If you're gonna reference stats that's a good one to point out.
So good that he managed 500 yards, one TD, and was relegated to a non starter

If the draft doesn't yield a receiver that is a weapon for Josh, then I would be open to acquiring Pickens on a one year rental

I don't really care about him playing a full season. The Bills will always be in the mix because of 17. I care about him playing in January.
Imagine thinking a dude that couldn't stay on the field in warm and Sunny California is going to thrive in Buffalo in January
Not a chance he's doing work here in the playoffs

$18M guaranteed. he won't get $36M
Still absurd money for a guy that lost his starting job to a guy with stone hands and had one TD on the season

Ok, so Palmer is a young player. However, DeMarcus Robinson with the Rams had similar stats as Palmer but scored 7 TDs vs 1 for Palmer. Robinson started several games due to the injuries to Nacua and Kupp.
Robinson signed with the Niners for 2 years/$9.75M. Sure he’s 30 years old but that’s a big disparity from the 3 years/ $36M the Bills gave Palmer.
Mr Beane, Negotiation 101 awaits you.
This is really my problem with Beane bringing him in
His body of work says he's a borderline starter that should get maybe 5 mil per year on a modest deal...not 3 for 36.
500 yards and one touchdown isn't a strong hand for an agent to play in negotiations, so why did Beane do something that was unlikely for any other team to do?

People on this board will fawn over a comp pick to be used on a depth STs Dback but then get mad over a 5x pro bowler not far removed from being a top 10 defensive player in the nfl. Unreal. The overvalue of the draft in the NFL is sickening. This guy can make plays for us
He can't stay on the field, my guy
Can't make plays if you're not getting on the field

WTF is Beane doing?

I said- He’s a great separator. He has great hands. He can get deep. He can get open 10-20 better than 90% of the league.
there are stats littered throughout this thread that say otherwise on the first 3. Can he get open 🚕 10-20 better than 90% of the nfl is certainly debatable. I’ll give you that. But there are stats that suggest that he was last season
Every nfl analyst I’ve seen so far thinks this is a good deal and thought he was a very good underrated player.
Some players need a change of scenery to flourish. He’s always impressed me and I’m happy he’s a Bill
Palmer is an inside guy? Or he was an inside guy when Keenan Allen got hurt?
I don't care what the analysts say. Half of those dopes barely watch the games and can't even tell you who's who half the time.
Right now is when people try to sell new acquisitions to the masses. Of course they're gonna be talking rainbows and unicorns right now. They want to justify these guys getting good size contracts and want the league to look a certain way when it comes to free agent signings. It's all about potential and what X player could produce.
I hope this guy is everything and more than what analysts say he is, but to me this is the type of guy that you don't pay and you draft because he doesn't seem to possess any traits that stand out which makes him less valuable and easier to find someone that can do what he can in the draft for a much lower cost

Well the hope is that Palmer had a Darnell Mooney type e v a l when it came to play vs production.
I think Mooney produced more in a single season, but he was coming off back to back 400 yard seasons and still had a pretty good market last year. Watching a lot of Bears games told me that he was really held back by the system and QB and I thought he was gonna be a steal.
Obviously Palmer wasn’t held back by his QB as much as Mooney was but still. Maybe he can be an 800-900 yard guy.
I’m not in love with the signing, because I think where the WR market has the worst talent meets pay intersection is the middle tier guys but maybe he surprises us.
I agree that he could potentially see a bump in numbers due to Allen and the system here, but his glowing praise of Palmer and his ability to win more than most receivers etc is just flat out nonsense
I'll hope he can become a guy who can produce at a starters level, but to me that's likely the dudes ceiling. What we've seen from him so far is he's probably a borderline boundary receiver

They can think whatever they want, but the proof is in the numbers that he has produced
What you said about him is simply ridiculous, and his play over numerous years is proof that it's ridiculous

Pats used their massive cap space to hurt us with Hollins knowing we couldn't pay what they were offering
Shrewd move on their part

His separation/td ratio? 😂 ffs man.
I’m sure it would amaze you if he ran a 4.39.
He’s a great separator. He has great hands. He can get deep. He can get open 10-20 better than 90% of the league. TDs totals are tough to control as a WR
None of this is true, because if it was...he would have much better stats than one TD and five hundred and some odd yards, and those numbers are pretty well established as his totals on a yearly basis
Beane did a bad deal here for a guy that we could easily replicate with a mid round WR in this draft

This is simply a ridiculous signing that has no upside to it at all
We could draft a Josh Palmer in this draft and pay him much less
He could potentially get a few more TD's and a few hundred more yards being in this offense, but that's not worth the contract he got
Consider me down on this move

It's possible, but if Josh and the Bills are smart (I believe they are) they are coaching him from a run alot QB that takes hits to a run and take hits only in crucial situations QB, and hopefully eventually a more cerebral QB that only uses the run even less because he can almost always solve the defense with his arm or throwing the ball away.

So did you question it when he was the best player on offense vs. KC? He certainly didn’t just become “this guy” over the last 3 weeks. So he went from a guy that was the best player on offense vs. KC, and a guy you were willing to give $33M to, to a guy that you now want off of the team because of a couple of social media comments? 🤣🤣
Why are you highlighting parts you want to use to make your point while ignoring the rest which clearly explains why I think he's probably a me first player looking for as much money as he can get and will cause distractions and whatever else he can if the Bills don't meet his demands
So, yeah...it's not just the social media comments. It's that he wants 15 mil per year and he's not an every down back, plus he's gone about this in a way that makes me wary of him and his commitment to the team and his motivations.
And Josh Allen was and will always be the best player on the field every game. Cook couldn't even be out there when the game was on the line, my guy.

So if I’m understanding this correctly, you had no issue with him wanting more money 3 weeks ago. In fact, you supported it and he was a valued member of the team. Now that he has gone public with his demand he’s not the kind of person that we want on the team? Do I have that right? If so, we strongly disagree. I don’t care about how he asked for his money. I care that he shows up vs. KC. To each their own…
I had no issue with him wanting to get an extension in the 30-33 million range with about half guaranteed for an additional three years. I do however have an issue with him putting out he wants 15 mil/year to the world and then getting upset cause of some people's reactions on social media.
And, yes...now that he has shown this type of behavior I question whether he's the type of guy that the Bills want in their locker room. I question his motivation and whether he wants to win or get paid. Me first guys that cause issues unless they get what they want and team be damned probably aren't the best fit for this roster.
Hopefully I'm way off base and we have this all wrong and Cook wants to be here on a deal that works for both sides

He has a contract and leverage. When you are overpaid in the NFL, they rip your contract up and don’t pay you. Are we okay with that? The leverage you have is when you’re a good value and can hold out. Cook is up for a raise and a significant one. Now he’s pushing the Bills to get something done.
Why anyone gets upset about what he wants? That concept is beyond me. We make what our market and skill set warrants. I also don’t understand how him wanting market value makes him of lesser value to the team? He was the best player on the field for the Bills last game and I’m sure he wanted $15M at that point. You didn’t know about it then. So now that you know that he isn’t the kind of guy that you want? Help me understand that? My concern is winning and he has been an important piece.
Dude has handled it poorly, and we saw this coming from not just him, but his brother who was also a problem. Don't state your demands publicly, and don't make it look as if you are angry with the team cause of the backlash you received for something you put out there in the first place.
Nobody is saying he shouldn't want to get paid. He has the right to seek an extension based on his play this season, but negotiating through the media is not something that organizations that are run well typically encourage, and now all the backlash from fans and his response has already poisoned the well to an extent.
I wanted to pay the guy, and if he would've made it known to Beane through his agent I'm sure that there would have been talks, and maybe there still is or will be...who knows. But to me, a guy who chirps about his contract and then proceeds to get upset when he put it out there in the first place screams headache that is always going to be looking for a way to squeeze the most money out of the team he plays for...even if it's at the expense of others and causes problems for the team.
Some guys are willing to renegotiate their deals or maybe take a bit less to stick with their team if the team is successful and has other great players around them. Cook seems like the type that wants all he can get and isn't interested in helping the team by maybe taking slightly less or working the contract so they can maintain cap flexibility. I would bet that he would rather play for the Cowboys at 15 mil then the Bills at 12, and there's nothing wrong with him wanting to do that, but maybe that's not the type of player the Bills want on their team?
I certainly don't.

Should he NOT care about the money at his job? Is it “selfish” when I go ask for more money because I’m being paid below the market rate? What does what you make have to do with what he makes? Are you an NFL player? If not, NFL players are paid a percentage of the money that the league makes. If you don’t like how much they make, stop consuming the product driving up the money to the players. Define “more than enough to have a nice life?” Why is that okay for someone else to decide?
He's allowed to think he deserves more money, and he may even be correct. Problem is he is under contract, and he has now made it public and has apparently gotten upset because people are not happy with his expectations of compensation.
He could've handled it like a pro and had his agent bring it to Bills management so they could have worked on coming to a possible agreement behind the scenes...now who knows how him and his agent approach the contract situation and how the Bills respond.
Cook just strikes me as a guy who is going to be difficult to deal with from here on out. I don't think this team needs that type of individual on this roster, but obviously the Bills will make the call

Come on man, Cook has worked his ass off. A lot of players didn't show up in the AFCCG. He was one of a few that did and made an incredible individual play to steal a TD. He's earned the right to play hardball and make as much as he can. Teams don't show blind loyalty to their players and players shouldn't be expected to show blind loyalty to their teams. That's especially true for RBs who know they might have one good shot at a contract that sets them up for life.
That's all fine and dandy, but he just strikes me as a me first guy that wants his money and will always be causing trouble if he's not getting what he thinks he should be, and we know alot of these guys aren't always realistic with how much they should get.
I could also see him giving less effort once he gets his big deal so he can keep himself in position to strike another deal in a few more years after that.
The fact that he's been alluding to getting paid previously, along with his brother, and now the 15 mil thing with him acting like a diva on social media all screams buyer beware at a position where you have to be incredibly valuable to get a big deal.
I was on board with paying him if he wanted a reasonable extension. Now with how he's been acting I am not even sure if I would make that offer.

This kid always struck me as a selfish player that would only be in it for the money and not for the team. His brother was a similar guy, as well.
I would package him in a trade and move on. He's not a complete back, and he definitely benefits from Josh and the Oline

Keon Coleman success by route - Not pretty

I'm very confident that Coleman will be much more impactful this season than Josh Palmer, who I see as a bust signing by Beane.
Coleman is a young kid that clearly needed to work on things and grow as a player, and all indications are that he has.
Palmer has accomplished little to nothing in the league, and there's no reason to believe he will be anything but maybe a slightly better version of a JAG, and that would be because Allen could potentially elevate him
