  1. Mahomes knows it, too

That's why he was cheezing running around Highmark like a kid that stole another one over Allen

McDermott has failed Josh and now the Chiefs own us in the playoffs

The same result will happen every time we play them because that's what our coach does

  2. Once again we saw what smart people know, and that's that Allen, Burrow, and Mahomes are the real top 3 QB's in the game

Lamar isn't in their class, and the playoff performances along with the stats bear that out

Another MVP for a guy that is riding his team's defense until he gets outplayed by the Allen's and Mahomes' of the league when it matters most

Shutting  down the reigning MVP Lamar Jackson to clinch the first Bills AFCCG appearance since the 1993 season. Defensive masterclass.

I don't think it was that impressive because Lamar had a clear weakness passing the ball outside of the hash marks.

Credit given for shutting him down, but let's not pretend he shut down a true elite QB. Lamar is still a limited passer that doesn't dissect a defense if we are being honest

There’s no flaw in that logic unless he was got blown out again like we did against the Bengals.  Both KC divisional games came down to one or two plays in a team of comparable skill.  Football isn’t a severn game series so the margin of error is so slim that something as simple as a wind gust can completely change a narrative and careers.

It’s real easy to become impatient in football because of that single elimination system and thinking waiving a magic wand for a better coach to get us over the hump is wishful thinking.  As long as we keep fielding a top team that hosts divisional games the law of averages will eventually swing our way.  I think you didn’t even have us finishing above .500 when we were 6-6 despite the three previous seasons where we’ve won out with at least five straight.  Maybe have some faith in a coach who’s gotten us there every year who will work to get better in those high pressure tight games.

The law of averages doesn't apply to teams that get out coached and dominated by top QB's every playoffs

Thinking that we will eventually get our turn because that's how it works is simply foolish nonsense

Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, Zac Taylor, and Joe Burrow are going to step on McDermotts neck at every opportunity in the playoffs

Expecting a different result when this has happened the last four seasons is the definition of insanity

That ball was a rainbow, 62 yards in the air, with a 10-15mph wind, AT NIGHT, in 20° temperature. Not really sure if Diggs even saw it until it was too late.

IN THIS INSTANCE, I'll side with Warner, and say it was a dumb decision, and he should have gone to the wide open guy over the middle.

But if Diggs makes the catch, it's a fantastic decision that may have won the game.

Hindsight is always 20/20, and Kurt Warners analysis is exactly that

  6. In the eyes of the media, Lamar is already better than Josh. Mahomes obviously, and Burrow too since Josh also loses to him.

Josh will be looked at as just a guy who compiled numbers...nothing more, and nothing less.

The only way this changes is with rings and MVP's, and neither one seems attainable without this team taking the next step.

But they have been the best team in their conference in the regular season. I feel like that should be rewarded. Honestly I never liked the 1 and 2 seed bye thing. I much prefer only the #1 seed having the bye. What is the justification for the #2 seed getting a bye other than it allowed them to have a 6 team playoff pool? There is justification for rewarding the 1 seed IMO.

You could have two teams that are 14-3 and didn't play each other, but the team that wins the tiebreaker cause of conference record or opponent win % should enjoy not just home field against them, but also a bye week so they had a much easier path?

I wanna see the title game played evenly rest wise  if those top two win their respective games to meet each other for a chance to go to the big game

  8. The best you could hope for is that they go to 8 teams per conference for the playoffs with a bye for the 1 and 2 seed.

It feels too easy a path for me being a 1 seed that plays one game to be in the title game , while the opponent goes through a gauntlet. Give the two the same thing so that if it lines up the top two from the regular season advance to face each other in the title game, it's more even.

The one seed enjoys too much of an advantage IMO

Wanna be a legend and beat Mahomes? Make the throw.

You are saying it's ok that he missed the touchdown throw to possibly win the game. Fine...just don't claim he had a legendary performance.

Legends make that play...excuses are for losers.

I don't think you understand A) how the chiefs defended Allen, and B) the deficiencies of the Bills WR corps in this moment in time

Richard Sherman was on undisputed and was talking complete nonsense because Allen had zero plays of 20+ yards. He said that Brock Purdy had a better game, which is simply a horrible take.

I thought this guy was smart, but he clearly didn't realize that the KC defense is top of the league in pass D and we wanted to manage the clock and keep the D off the field.

The deep shots that were dropped were brought up, but he dismissed them because they weren't caught.

I tuned out after that because it was just bad analysis

Settling for McDermott is what people that are resigned to never winning anything do.

Josh has to play a perfect game for the team to have a chance in the playoffs. Even then it may not be enough. He's going to have to find a way to be even better.

Not realistic to expect Josh to be any better

Maybe his receivers need to catch better, but Josh himself is playing at as high a level as possible

Let's not forget Andy Reid's playoff history before Mahomes.

How many NFC playoff games did he lose with those Eagles teams? Then a few more with the Chiefs. It took him a long, long time to get where he is now.

McDermott doesn't have the wins now, but Reid made the playoffs a dozen times before getting over the hump (yes, he did make a SB appearance with the Eagles once too).

Andy would have never won it in Philly, and Sean will never win it in Buffalo

That's about where the similarities end

McD isn't going anywhere - how long did it take Reid to get to the Super Bowl ?

It took him leaving Philly and drafting Mahomes

Mahomes and Reid own McDermott in the playoffs

Maybe we'll have a chance when Andy calls it quits

    Or maybe not

I agree- he hasn’t proven a dam thing against top QBs in the playoffs.

my evidence is how they perform with a somewhat healthy D.  It doesn’t have to be totally healthy.  Just not ravaged by injuries.  It just so happens that we are only somewhat healthy in the regular season….. and by the time the playoffs come around, we aren’t.  Each time we’ve played KC during the regular season, our D has been much healthier than when we face them in the playoffs.

Regular season-  we’ve been healthier and the D played well

    playoffs- we’ve been banged up.

I’d love to see KC beat us without Chris Jones or Sneed.  Not happening

You could be right, but I'm not willing to give McDermott that chance again. Part of the reason we weren't healthy is because we had to play for our season from week 11 on. We could've had a bye week and been in much better shape. McDermott is to blame for our 6-6 start.

Too many of these losses, and too many bad coaching decisions year after year.

He doesn't get to keep blowing chances while Josh is playing championship football. Four playoff losses when they should have won is enough.

And what makes you so confident you'll find anyone better?  I'ts easy to say you will, but when you look at how many coaches get fired every year, no idea will be any better and likely short term would set things back

So run it back again with someone that we know cannot get us past the Mahomes and Burrows of this league?

All teams have injuries, but when down to 4th stringers against what is still a very good KC team it will make a difference.  Many here seem to be forgetting that many of the players who were out this week with injury or playing but not close to 100% were already playing for the original injured starter.

What makes you so confident that even if by some amazing luck we play Mahomes or Burrow with a healthy team, that we will win?

McDermott routinely gets out coached and his defense gets trounced every playoffs against these guys

You're talking hypotheticals with zero evidence that any McDermott defense can beat those teams in the playoffs. We now have four years of his defense getting absolutely worked

I agree. Too many drives doing what the opposing team wanted us to. Absolutely need to get a deep threat who can win balls.

Still can’t believe some of those drops by Diggs man… That caliber of player should be coming away with most of them. They weren’t otherworldly catches to be made…

Once you box Allen into an underneath passer you’re making his supporting cast win the game, and they never have.

Why give the guy a chance to go 25-30+ yards downfield where to cover, you have to have your back to the play. Once you do, game over. He’s picking up the first.

Need to get Allen someone legit if we can, options are tough for a FA. Mike Evans might be the only option for what is needed…

Looks like drafting someone so we can run a complete offense is what’s needed.

Also wonder if he goes back to the DLine for our first couple of picks given the complete no show they’ve been with Pitt and KC…

I don’t think anyone is making excuses. They know what they get with McD.

Personally, I give him one more season. He did an exceptional job of turning this season into the #2 seed and still could have/should have won it.

He gets a final year. If you can’t get to the AFCC and be in it during the final seconds at worst, then it’s time to move on.

He has earned that parting gift.

    Insanity

We have all the evidence we need on McDermott and his failures in the playoffs against legit QB's and coaches

McDermott beats up on lesser teams and QB's until it comes playoff time...then he gets undressed

I'm out on a McDermott led Bills team next season. Not doing it

And the injuries were a totally different story as well, my guy.

when we played them in the regular season each year, we had Bernard and Benford.

13 seconds, our corners were Levi and Dane.  We had Tre during the regular season and pounded them.

last year, we had a healthy von and he wrecked them.

That’s my point-  McD has proven he’s able to stop them…..when he has a somewhat healthy roster.  Missing Milano, Bernard, Tre, Benford, Rapp and JP hurt.  Big time

    I disagree

He hasn't proven a damn thing against the top QB's in the playoffs...they have abused his defense...healthy or not.

You will make excuses every year and say x person was out, they had injuries, etc

This time they had the home game, and they had a KC offense that hadn't shown anything all season.

This was their best shot, and they laid an egg again. Your evidence is regular season wins, but my evidence is postseason losses.

We are talking postseason here, so my evidence is more compelling

It’s all in perspective to me after a challenging year in my IRL life. Takes more than skill to win the SB. Politics and luck are more of a factor than anyone will ever admit. I’m not angry we are out, I’m on to the next phase of my favorite hobby, the offseason.

Allen isn’t any less elite, this team isn’t any less fun to watch. They’ll be in contention again next season.

They may be in "contention" meaning in the playoffs, but they aren't truly contenders...they are PRETENDERS
