Well I think you can judge alot in terms of the run game and their ability to win at the line of scrimmage. Last years Oline left alot to be desired in that area for me.
Pass blocking is much harder to judge as others have said, but they did seem to have problems dealing with heavy blitz packages from my perspective.
Overall...I saw the line as middling, and I wanted them to get better. There's some hope with continuity and possible improvement from Cody Ford, so that is the bright side.
The not so bright side is that if they can't show good improvement and Allen and Diggs don't develop a productive relationship, then we may have an unhappy receiver who will voice it in the media.
This is my biggest concern this upcoming season. I really want to know the line is a non issue in such a big season for Josh Allen.

He may stick around for his entire rookie contract just like Mariota and Winston but if he doesn’t elevate his game then I doubt BB and McD are going to sit patiently and pretend that he’s good enough.Exactly.
It's clear the organization is all in and looking to win a title.
Should Allen not show the necessary improvement, I would expect a team with high expectations to at least bring in someone that has a chance to supplant Allen.
And I'm as big of an Allen supporter as they come, but he's gotta become a better quarterback.

That would not make sense. After the fourth year, well, maybe, depending how bad years three and four were. After three, though, you still make it clear it's his job to lose, while keeping Fromm here and learning as long as he appears to be coming along. Fromm should be his competition. You don't start a competition unless there's a significant back-slide.
Winston's actually a good case study. Four years and a bit of a back-slide and who did they bring in? Fitz was there and they kept him. And you know Fitz isn't going to be your QB of the future. After his fifth year and a back-slide, pffft, Winston's gone. They didn't bring Brady in after Winston's third year, though. It was his fifth.
Fromm is just a cheaper version of Barkley...not even good enough to be a quality backup...maybe in a different stadium, but the wind/weather in NewEra will be an issue for him.
The organization is failing itself if they don't push Allen should he not meet expectations this upcoming season.

You do know that Winston is second string? Is he going to have a good season holding a clip board? Further more if Winston does get on the field and is the same QB he was last year he will be unemployed.
He had multiple offer this season but chose NO...doubtful he isn't afforded the same opportunities again no matter how next season plays out.
The main point was that I would bring in as much competition as possible if Allen doesn't show enough in this crucial third season. Substitute Winston with any vet QB that has shown ability and the potential to be a good starting QB.

The first thing I wrote when the Bills traded for Diggs was that it was a message to Allen and Daboll. The message said "w\We plan to win now. It's up to you."
That's the kind of statement that keeps a guy from the second round of interviews for any NFL GM job.
Not improving the most important position when it's not good enough will eventually cost the GM and the coaching staff their jobs.
I like Allen and believe he will develop...just disagree on the statement that was made FTR.

I didn't say "falters", just if he doesn't get much better. I think he is already very good. I'm thrilled to have him, and think some people don't know a good thing when they have it.
He's not good enough right now.
If he were to stay the same QB as last season this season, then I'd be drafting a QB in the first round next year and I'd look at Winston if he has a good season in New Orleans.

Josh Allen is here to stay.
If he doesn't develop into some kind of superstar, or whatever this "leap" I keep hearing that he needs to make is, they will instead change the emphasis of the offensive strategy to suit whatever they think he is capable of, rely more on the running game, and probably start emphasizing defense strategically and in the draft.
He isn't going anywhere for a long while. He is the guy.
That would be the team giving up if they did that, and I'd be severely disappointed in the organization if that happened.
You don't extend Allen for big money if he falters...you bring in someone to compete with him in year four and go from there.

For cryin' out loud with this Schobel stuff. The next time Epenesa tries a speed rush and gets routed wide by the tackle across Abbott Rd and through Lot 4 like Schobel always did, then we can start with the Schobel comparisons.
So season opener, then???

I would rank the AFC as this
1. KC
2. BAL
3. BUF
4. CLE
5. IND
6. PIT
7. DEN
8. TEN
9. HOU
10. NE
11. MIA
12. LVR
13. NYJ
14. JAX
15. CIN
KC must remain atop until someone knocks them off. I think Bills and Ravens are the only teams that could do it in the AFC.
Baltimore has a great roster, but I still question their offense and QB. Can be contender or a playoff failure once again.
For me, the question for the Bills is Allen and the Oline. Oline must be better and help the run game and give Allen better protection...especially when teams bring pressure. If they get those things, they can beat anyone..
I think most that were high on the Browns last year were a season off. They are loaded on both sides of the ball and have vastly improved the line, so Baker should play fairly well. Coaching will also be better.
Indy and Pit are veteran teams that have some talent and are well coached...should be in the hunt.
Denver is a possible threat that may be good on both sides of the ball.
MIA could possibly make some noise if Tua is who some think.
Nobody else is worthy of mentioning IMO.

Impressive game vs. 7th ranked Notre Dame. Go to 6:50 where he throws a 40 yard TD against his body that was dropped by the WR. Plenty of arm strength on that one.
Only concern is the winds at New Era Field. Think he'll be fine.
I came away from that game very unimpressed TBH.
Lots of dink and dunk throws...one where his lack of arm strength shows on a intermediate throw to an open receiver in the middle of the field.
The throw you referenced was a good throw...although in our stadium he probably can't make it.
I don't think he'll be fine, but if he's a cheaper Barkley, I suppose it's an OK move.
I believe we need a good backup QB, not a guy who may struggle to make the throws needed in our own building.

Which QB should we have taken instead of Fromm?
Someone that can actually be able to throw in NewEra would be nice.
This kid is the same as Barkley...will not be able to hack it in Buffalo, and maybe not anywhere.
It's a 5th rounder, so I don't care too much...just think it's a wasted pick.

If the league is allowing cybernetic arms now, then it's a great pick

The kid just doesn't have enough arm strength to cut it IMO. In a division like the NFC south with better weather and domes, maybe.
Not a chance in NewEra

I think Love is a major project.
Doubt that he ever pushes Arod out the door

What makes you think he would've given the Bills the same courtesy? All we can offer him is a ticket out of DC. We're not exactly in the SB conversation yet.
Guess we'll never know.

Plenty of tackles play well into their mid 30's.
Jason Peters was still a good LT at 37.
Whats your plan for Dawkins when he's a free agent BTW?

Terrible.
Wonder if you'll feel the same way when you have to pay an average player 18 mil+ after the season.
I'd much rather pay a proven elite LT over Dawkins, but it's time to move on now.

not necessarily True. Bleacher report rated the Epenesa draft pick A+ and proceeded to post this specifically look at last paragraph
Notice they said winners of the "off season"...not the draft.

Nobody is going to include Diggs into their evaluations of draft winners or losers, so it's kind of a moot point doing so.
All I know is I'm happy with the Diggs acquisition and I think we have made two good picks so far.

He averaged 2.85 seconds time to throw, the same as Russell Wilson and .05 seconds above the NFL average. This does not explain the inordinate number of times there were free rushers screaming at him causing him to run for his life.
Yes, the line is vastly improved from where it was. But it's still the weakest link on the team imo.I agree that the Oline is the weakest link on the team and with this being a crucial season for Josh Allen and with the upgrades we added to the offense, it could be a massive failure if the line isn't much improved.
I have hopes that they are better with continuity, the addition of Diggs, and the growth of Ford/more competition brought in, but I'm still definitely concerned we didn't do enough.

Just finished watching his tape.
Number one...he's definitely faster than his forty. Numerous plays where he broke away and couldn't be caught. He has the ability to take it to the house.
Second...he is unphased by arm tackles. He literally runs through them without even having an impact on him.
Fantastic addition, and he will definitely challenge Singletary for more snaps. Should be a great battle that makes a great two headed monster!

I don't get a few posters here asking if Trent Williams would even be an upgrade...is that some kind of joke? Trent Williams is vastly superior to Dawkins. He was possibly the best LT in the game just a couple years ago, and he's now had some time to let his body heal.
I'm not a big fan of Dawkins, and I do not wanna pay him franchise LT money in the future. I'd swap him for Trent Williams no questions asked.
I'd offer him a 3 year extension worth around 16/yr with good guaranteed money and the line is significantly upgraded.

Howie Roseman is an awful GM that handed out deals to nearly every player who was on the SB team as a reward...about as dumb as it gets besides maybe BoB.
Howie will be on the hot seat and most likely fired at season's end
