Look, it's fine you are defending McDermott's tenure so far. It's not so much as "complaining" as it is a "concern". I for one thoroughly enjoy the Bills games the last few years, because good competitive games are great to watch. Actually I've been watching since the 60s. But...the bar has been set higher now with Allen at the helm, and the Lombardi is within reach. We need more from McDermott. More aggressive no fear coaching, not deer in the headlights coaching decisions late in games. We need better. My "hobby" is a Bills superbowl my friend. Not sure Sean can feed my hobby.

No coach is ready to win a superbowl until they actually do it.

The disconnect between some fans here and the reality of the team is nuts, people saying that McD is worse than some rookie HCs. I don't think McD is perfect, far from it, but there's no reason why he can't win a superbowl.

If we had the entire starting defense and were 5-3 I could understand the teeth gnashing, but the circumstances are what they are.

They absolutely should be more aggressive and shift to an "offense first" mindset. That's where the future of this season lives or dies by, and they're starting to do it right. This week was a big leap in the right direction.

I get wanting better but McDermott's COACHING isn't the problem. Like some have alluded too, he gives his coaching staff too long of leashes. Dorsey's leash should be 3 inches long at this point. It is absolutely excusable to have shotgun on 3rd and 4th and 1 for 2 straight weeks, multiple times and not use your 6'5 240lb qb for a sneak .... He has a very limited capacity in run design creativity, as well.

Agreed except for the sneak part if Allen's shoulder really is a concern.

Absolutely insane take. Best case scenario he's near the bottom of the top 15. there are 10 coaches I would take over him without hesitation and a good handful more that have a clear edge.

When I look at coaches that are definitively worse than McD, it's a very short short list. There are a lot of first year head coaches that will probably end up better too.

I get that we're all on edge about this season, but I don't know how you can believe what you just wrote.

  4. He's a top 10 coach, full stop, maybe at the tail end of top 5.

Has it likely been easier for him because of Allen? Yes, absolutely.

Is he the guy who can win it all? I don't see why not.  Maybe it's more likely for an offensive mind, but lots of great offensive coaches haven't won a superbowl.

It can be a lot worse.  Hopefully he grows as a coach and improves.  There's lot of things that can be done better, but that's true of virtually every coach in the NFL.

Oh come on! Taron Johnson held the receiver the ENTIRE play. That's an easy (and totally correct) call.

Johnson essentially does that every play. He's so streaky, for like 10 games out of the year he looks like the best Nickel DB in the game, and then the rest you're kind of questioning why he's the starter.

Davis. I don't care if Davis leaves in free agency

You can't pay him like a #2 WR. He's like Edmunds, he'll probably get a contract that we can't match and honestly that's okay. He's a good player but I truly think he's elevated by just how good Allen is.

I'd like to replace him with a high draft pick if possible.

  7. Look, I think McD has way too much faith in this defense considering the injury situation.  I do think we need to be more aggressive, but I'm not sure if I trust Dorsey to be consistent or creative enough to manage that.

So it's a rock and a hard place kind of situation.

Just heard that with the new, faster paced offense, the Bills had 10 more Offensive plays last night than they've averaged over the last few games.

That is a full drive. That is the TD drive before half.

Take those 7 points off the Bills and now we're losing the game and it looks way more like the Giants/Jags games.

Dorsey/McD better not ignore this evidence and revert back to the slow-paced, 12 personnel BS.

You can be dynamic in 12 personnel too, the Bills just choose not to do it.  Kincaid is a WR, and by all looks of it he's a good one. He should have the second most targets on the team behind Diggs.

I've been saying this for weeks: Going to our #3 option WR  or TE is going to be more successful than forcing it to Diggs. The quality of DB defending guys like Shakir is way lower than the coverage on Diggs and even Davis.  I'm confident that Kincaid will consistently beat a slot DB or LB.

We saw it this week, we need to keep that up, and when the defense pivots the attention away from Diggs, that's when your superstar comes out to play.

  9. I don’t understand the mentality of putting the game in the hands of your most injured and depleted defense time and time again. Especially when you have a documented history of making questionable (at best) choices in high pressure situations.

The Bills dominated and still almost snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. To me, it’s becoming clear that the coaching staff need to pivot.

No, it's actually based on science. The more fat cells you have in your body, the more estrogen you have and less testosterone as fat cells themselves are estrogenic and cause a negative feedback loop in the body which favors an increase in fat cells, which then produce more estrogen, which then lowers testosterone levels further as estrogen is the hormonal marker in the body.

Typically(outside of environmental toxins, plastics and pesticides which are all xenoestrogens and wreaking havoc on the male endocrine system in their own right, but that's a topic for another day), the male body only has high levels of estrogen when testosterone production is too high and it's being converted via aromatase into estradiol. So the body responds by increasing sex hormone binding globule(SHBG) which then binds to testosterone and renders it inactive, driving levels down even further, and the cycle then continues in a downward spiral.

See?  You learned something that's actually useful today on these boards.

Okay, assuming everything you said is fact (I'm not going to bother searching for it) then the fact still remains that it is maybe tangentially related to what I said, but still a stretch.

You went off in a random direction for no apparent reason to attack someone based on physical features, which is really bizarre and sad.

If we're counting, I'm pretty sure McDermott did a lot for Daboll (and, Daboll did a lot for him) - starting with McDermott hired him to coach a talented rookie QB.  Daboll's record as an OC prior to Buffalo was so poor many questioned that decision, and indeed, he did appear to learn on the job as we went.

I also don't know how you get the "not a likeable guy".  He's intense, but he does come across as caring about people.  My guess would be he compartmentalizes pretty fiercely.

I've worked with people with his demeanor before, I don't find it enjoyable or likable to be around a controlling perfectionist.

This isn't a dig at him doing his job.  I think he's a very solid head coach, bordering on elite, but the game management issues hold that back.  It's not even really a dig at him personally, because maybe it's just his nature.  Being not likable is not the same as being a bad person, at least in my eyes.

Maybe because he is in shape and has testosterone flowing thru his body unlike most of the coaches who are fat butterballs that have more estrogen in their bodies from fat cell production than their wives do?  Mike Tomlin seems the same way.

Would you rather McDermott try to steal Josh Allen's "nuggies"?

I don't know how to react to anything you just wrote.  Is this some Andrew Tate stuff or something? But go ahead and tee off on fat guys I guess.

Daboll was the aggressive one that was always yelling and screaming

And McDermott had to tell him to take a step back these aren't 19-year-olds that you can scream at and scare respect into

And then he became more even keeled

Sure, I never said Daboll has a better temperament. The dude looks like a tomato about to burst on the sideline.
