  1. "Wednesday’s Patriots injury report looks a lot like the one the team handed in on Tuesday, but there is one new name on the list.

Linebacker Jamie Collins was added to the report as a limited participant. A shoulder injury was given as the reason why Collins wasn’t able to fully participate on Wednesday.

Four other players remained limited, including wide receiver Julian Edelman (knee, shoulder). Cornerback Jason McCourty (groin), linebacker Ja'whaun Bentley (knee) and defensive lineman Danny Shelton (shoulder) rounded out the group.

Cornerback Jonathan Jones was out of practice for the second straight day, so it seems his groin injury could keep him from facing the Bills on Saturday."

Limited is good .. out would be better.

I read that we have clinched a playoff spot, not specifically the 5th seed, don’t know if that’s correct or not.

    Go Bills!!!

Best case is 2nd overall seed if we win 2; NE loses 2 and KC loses 1

We could be 3rd if we win 2; NE loses 2 and KC wins 2

Any other combination and we are 5th.

great analysis.  I think PGH will be fine with Ben back, but they need to draft and groom a backup.

I think Tenn will stick with Tanny.  He seems to have a rapport with the WR's there, but it will tie up a huge chunk of $$, and they also have to pay Henry.

Not sure what Indy will do.  Looks like a potential QB purgatory there, or a Brady landing spot.

I think Jacksonville sticks with Minshew, and drafts another guy.  Or Brady spot.

NE:  finally, their reign of QB ridiculousness is over.

Cincy: getting a stud in the draft.  That team should rebuild quickly, and I think quicker than Cleveland, unless they replace Kitchens.

Oak:  I'd keep Carr and draft.

Wildcard in all of this: Where is Rosen next year.  He has had two really historically bad teams.  Perhaps he goes to PGH as the backup?  He'd be servicable behind a competent OL.

I think the verdict is still out on that. On one hand he has not been given much, but Murray is in a similar situation this year in Ariz and looks better and Fitzpatrick has had the same exact situation in Miami and has been much more successful. he is worth a flyer for some team, but I would not say it is a given that he would be servicable in any situation until he shows it on the field.

  4. This is an amazing article about the football fumble scrum pile with a lot from Fred Smerlas and Conrad Dobler. It makes what is being talked about here seem kind of tame in comparison. It is a long but excellent article

    https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2019/12/12/21005035/fumble-pile-violence-nfl-stories

Here is a sample “Retired NFL defensive lineman Fred Smerlas recalls them as the most exhilarating yet frightening moments in pro football, a purgatory of cheap shots and atrocities where you did your time unwillingly, a place where dragons lurked.”

No, no........say it right.........McD had Patrick Mahomes in hand........and traded him away..........with Tyrod Taylor as his #1 QB.

A lot has to play out right long term after you make the most egregious error in franchise history.

Hopefully it does but it's going to take more than losing a couple of road wildcard games..............gotta' raise that Lombardi before Mahomes does.

Everyone could have had Mahommes in hand .. if the Chiefs or others could look into the future they would have traded all their draft capital to get him. he is an amazing Quarterback, but the fact is mcDermott was new on the scene and did not have the front office in place that he could trust and he is not an expert on quarterbacks .. he is a D-minded coach. It makes perfect sense that he passed on patrick, though of course in hindsight....

Who would you like on this list? Of course re-signing J Phillips is a must and I would love to see Derrick Henry in a Bills uni.

The problem with Derrick henry is the cost to sign him (which means money is not being spent elesewhere) and the cliff that RBs almost always hit in their second contract. I can not think of a single high priced RB signing that has worked out for the team (La'veon Bell, Todd Gurley, Doug Martin). Then look at the teams consistently competing for the Super Bowl. They get lower priced guys on prove it deals. Please no Derrick Henry

  7. Very damning article about how many of the browns were shouting to the cardinals sideline to "come get them". safety Damarious Randall when asked if Kitchens had lost the team gave a no comment (that is no bueno). I feel bad for the browns fans .. somewhat kindred spirits, but the organization built a team of "me first guys" and I am thrilled that they have colossally under-performed and it looks to be blown up.

The Steelers game was not Josh's finest hour. He made some mistakes and missed some opportunities. But Josh came through with enough big plays to support the defenses fantastic effort (and the special teams quality effort.) But Josh has had a lot of other quality games against bad to decent teams that you could point to that far outpaced anything Duck Hodges has done. I am not sure if Josh is an elite QB but he is progressing and still growing. 2020 I think will see exactly around what kind of QB Josh can really be long term.

Josh also racked up his sixth 4th quarter comeback .. all time record is 43 by Peyton Manning .., hopefully the pace will slow down as we improve and win more wire to wire ... but you have to like how he operates in crunch time

    Don’t count on it.

Why would Chiefs be ahead of us?

If the chiefs win out we would both end up as 9-3 in the conference .. which is the second tiebreaker. ( first tiebreaker is head to head). It would then come down to common opponents .. The Chiefs and the Bills both played (NE, Baltimore, Denver, and Tennessee). The Chiefs are 4-1 in those games. The Bills would be 3-2.

i don't think we're, 'locked' at the 5th seed. theoretically, we could finish as high as 2nd or anywhere in between. but definitely no lower than 5th.

    2nd seed if Bills win out, pats lose out, and Chiefs lose 1;

    3rd seed if Bills win out, pats lose out; and Chiefs win out;

5th seed any other scenario.  We cannot be the 4th seed as for us to win the division we would need to win out and the Texans could not catch us in that scenario.

That's crazy.  The defense gets an A.  Allen gets a C+.

The pick was all on him and wasn't his only bad throw of the night.  Brown saved him on back to back deep throws, once catching it and once preventing a pick.

I would agree that Brown saved him on the second one .. but the first .. that is exactly where you want that placed. Brady makes that throw all the time and people say it was a smart throw. Have the receiver come back and the DB is in a horrible position. As for the Cole Beasley pass .. yes it was a bit high .. but excellent receivers make these all the time. The problem is we have very good receivers, but not an excellent reciever who will make the really hard catch.

It’s never great to lose to a division opponent heading into the playoffs, but we have almost no chance of winning the division, so why not take the L and rest our starters against the Jets the following week!?! That way we head into the playoffs rested and ready!

Nice try Bill .. since you can’t record our sidelines you are resorting to mind games ... almost had me.  You will have to lean on the traditional buying off the refs for this one

It was very clear he did zero homework on the Bills and generally went with the same propaganda most have gone with. Josh isn’t accurate that’s his issue. Wrs are too small. Buffalo has a very good defense blah blah blah.

He is the owner of profootballfocus ... PFF cannot be shaken from their narrative. We may sneak into the top 20 teams in their power rankings with this win ... but unlikely

I imagine it's probably never come up in Dak's career before. He probably didn't know there was a difference, but regardless, the ref asked him if he was sure, Dak responded by saying they want to defer to the 2nd half and then the ref decided to just ignore that.

It's probably not the ref's responsibility to do the ole "Are you suuuuure you want to do that?" thing, but once the ref asked Dak to clarify, he should have abided by what Dak actually said instead of just doing whatever he wanted to do.

The ref gave him a second chance .. and Dak said yes kick-off .. then after saying kick-off twice Dak finally said defer.  At some point .. you have to take the guys answer. I would be fine if they had given it to him, but the Cowboys only have themselves to blame.

  15. Wow Cowboys ..  win the coin toss and elect to kick-off .. the referee double checked with Dak who confirmed.. You have 3 choices 1) Receive the ball, 2) Kick the ball, or 3) Defer so the Rams would have gotten the choice in the first half and the Cowboys would have gotten the choice in the second half. They chose 2 which nobody does because that means the Rams get the ball in the first in the first half (Cowboys kick)  and can elect to receive in the second hald which they will do .. so they get the ball first in both halves .. ouch. Can't fix dysfunction.

LOL. I generally have Manning at #3 but I can make a good argument P Manning isn't in the top 5. I would take the five listed below before Manning if I had to win one playoff game.  #6 would be a toss up between Marino and Manning.  Rounding out the top 10 would be Elway, Rodgers, and Staubach.

    1. Brady

    2. Montana

    3. Brees

    4. Favre

    5. Young

Must disagree with your list .. if I had to take one QB for a single playoff game .. it must be

    1) Brady

    2) Montana

    3) Mr . Playoffs Rob Johnson

i remember the 99 playoff game and he was ... oh nevermind

  17. Really nice article from ESPN about Shaq and Phillips ... https://www.espn.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/304229/bills-dogs-shaq-lawson-and-jordan-phillips-setting-tone-for-defense.

One of the more interesting points was how Shaq and Jordan set the energy of the defense per McDermott as well as Shaq's view of the team under Rexy "You can tell, everything just changed with the culture, bringing the right guys in," Lawson said. "Coach McDermott and Beane did everybody a favor, especially me. It turned me around as a player because when I first got here -- to me, it felt like a damn party. ... Ever since then, I've been progressing as a player."
