First was a game on tv in the 70s. 2nd memory was watching Ferguson play with a bad ankle in the playoffs. Saw that on a TV in a Sears store.

Nice to be in a position where we don't HAVE to start Ford. Nice to be in a position where we can draft best OL available (at whatever position) and not feel pressured into taking only a tackle.

I like that we retained Milano. Now I'm hoping the Bills develop competitive LB depth such that LB3 isn't a huge talent drop-off. Klein can do some nice things, but he's not the LB3 with decent coverage ability we need.

"The Buffalo Bills, in conjunction with Shea's Buffalo, The Spirit of Youth, and Wegman's bring you a spectacular cultural event-filled Sunday starting at 9AM!! See local stars, taste exotic treats, hear the singing, see the dance, get your blood pressure checked, take a nap or talk business in your suite!! (Note: Game at 1pm may interfere with scheduled activities.)

For any coach to take an interview they are not only considering the position, but the uprooting of their family, leaving friends, buying/selling a house, etc. Of course it's distracting.

Jmo.
Probably right. Ted had a range of reported weights. I mention those two guys as examples of tackles I remember as dominant and frustrating to opponents. When the Bills had the Ted Washington - Pat Williams tandem they were solid up the middle. I felt Wilfork could shed engage/disengage as needed. I don't expect to reproduce Washington-Williams exactly as now at least one of your DT's (even front) is expected to generate some pass rush. Just hoping to see less 2nd level runs that require our safeties to make the tackle.

Seeing Shelvin listed as 6'3", 346 lb. Ted Washington: 6'6", 365 lb. Vince Wilfork: 6' 1 3/8", 340 lb. I know it's not a weight competition, but Shelvin's big enough. Someone else can tell me about his ability to anchor or lateral movement but if he were no worse than Star his first year...........

Do Barmore and Oliver hypothetically play on the field at the same time or is Barmore also an NFL (not college) 3-tech?

We need help at DL/Edge, LB, 2nd CB, OG, TE, and probably RT and RB.
I think they address DE and several positions in free agency. This will dictate how they draft. If we can retain a few of our guys, and also sign some free agent help, then it will depend on what positions still neeed to be addressed at draft time as to how he handle it.
Every year I remind myself we'll never get all the pieces we need. I think with the 1-tech DT figured out, the Bills get a more effective Oliver and Edmunds so with one position fixed, you upgrade two others. Maybe Star is still the guy, but a big DT is a need to me. In much the same way, if the Bills can't get a new RB and TE, a solid OL player could boost the running game with the players we have. Odd for a such a talented team to have so many perceived needs.

Hold or trade back. Only trade up for a QB IMO. Beane reaches and ends up with Cody Ford and Edmunds. Also, you have to decide whether you're going to cut down the number of rookies you bring in BEFORE they ever step on your practice field with your coaches and get evaluated in your system OR you bring in a full compliment of rookies to evaluate (again) on your field with your coaches in your system with your players etc. and do a proper Bills evaluation for a month or so before making cuts. To many holes to get cute trading up. Get these guys into camp and look at them then.

Romo talks too much. Game is a snoozer thus far. Having trouble rooting either for or against either team. Beavis and Butthead were appreciated.

Wasn't near as bad as the Super Bowl losses. Dallas losses were awful. Then you have to consider the Ronnie Harmon drooped pass loss against Cleveland.

Oliver is the reason I love big, sloppy DTs with a mean streak.
You cannot coach or teach God-given massive bulk.
Oliver is a high effort guy but he is just plain too small.
Like Albert Haynesworth without the head stomping. I'll say Oliver is at minimum good enough for certain packages if a big DT can keep him clean.

Rroethlisberger is not a mentor. You keep Ben to start or make other plans.

Jackson in a tough spot. That said, this is how you defend an interception:

"Best game" may mean giving up 160 on the ground but limiting big passing plays, frustrating Lamar, and causing 2 turnovers. We've kind of been winning with that formula.

Gabriel's Gate has let me down with soggy wings. How can you not render the fat and crisp the skin properly? Not downtown Buff, but I greatly prefer Bar Bill in East Aurora.

Klein is the best tackler among the LBs. I like him for stuffing the Ravens' RB, but he's not gonna run down Jackson on the outside. I'd start the game in Base-D with 3 LBs & adjust to nickel if it's not working. Even if we go Nickel, I'd like to see Klein take some of Milano's snaps on running downs.
The run-fueled 7-minute drives (as we saw from the Colts) are infuriating. I can only hope that there is real data showing the 2 LB set is the answer based on matchups because it's not obvious to my simple mind when I see it happen. I see Klein as a choice between limiting chunk plays from the run vs chunk plays by TE's.

this is really the most interesting part, and there are many interesting parts. Ben is a big crybaby when he doesn't have the OC he wants, who does things the way he wants, even if the results are good. This means that either Ben and Fichtner had a rift, or the Steelers are telling Ben it's no longer "your" team.
Ben is no longer productive enough to warrant his disruptive/selfish nature. Pitt would do as well or better with Fitz (for example) in addition to getting a team guy.

Watching Antoine Winfield spoiled me. Not big at all and a great tackler.

I suspect we will see a lot more Klein out there than Taron Johnson. Our guys are going to have to tackle and contain on defense.
Klein has a physicality that I really like against the run and for rushing the passer. Maybe Klein never sees the field since Baltimore loves throwing to the TE's. Weigh that against getting gouged by the run.

Not sure what game you were watching but here have been way worse performances.
As far as the D-Line, I think the problem stems from the lack of true a 1 Tech DT. This forces the combination of Oliver, Butler, or Zimmer to fill that position. IMO a better 1 Tech would allow Oliver to penetrate better from 3 Tech. If you watched the Washington game you saw how 4 1st round linemen can beat blocking and put pressure on a QB.
Other things to consider is that the interior OL of the Colts is probably one of the best in the NFL.
Not having that 1 tech DT is huge.
Bills sign Mitch Trubisky, QB.

Being more than one deep at THE most important position. Being able to accommodate the scenario where #1 is out a game or two and you still expect to win. Smart.
