I’m just going to down vote any weirdo who keeps talking about Diggs in this thread… I would have down voted this post also, except I’m going to say L. Floyd FTW!!! So now we are back on topic.

I did see something on NHL Network that Jack Eichel is 3rd for most points in first playoffs appearance with 22 so far. That’s pretty good, and kinda debunks the disappearing act most here are saying. Even after he got crushed, he came back, stole a puck and got an assist.
and I just want to assure those who might not understand what I just said, I am not comparing myself to NHL network.

Please let him be competition for Lewis, that guy is lost even when he is doing his assignment. There has rarely been a player that I notice over and over again at being horrible. It jumps off the screen at how bad at football he is.

I watched plenty of this type of play in Buffalo. One good month in his own zone does not make a Selke winner.

I am pretty sure we are talking about the Playoffs in 2023… and not Oct. of 2022(your article). He has been playing FANTASTIC defense during this post season so far. Which has been my point. How soon after his surgery was that article written? Has his effort and play improved as he continues to recover? I would say definitely yes.

Just watching the highlights, after Gudas screamed in that young goalies face against the Leafs, after they had basically clinched the series, and seeing all his cheap shots through this playoffs… I am so glad we crushed his head in the ice. Their whole deserves that!

I think 10th is generous for Eichel as it stands. There are many centers more productive than Eichel and his defensive game has never been anything noteworthy.
I was going to give this a thumbs up except for your last sentence… Eichel has been phenomenal on D for us! Like literally outstanding. That was a weird add in, unless you haven’t watched him this post season

Ullmark was solid but he can’t do it alone…
Again The Sabres are bad because they were good for so long and traded away pieces to remain relevant… Once those guys were gone there was never a group to come back

The Sabres have been playing 21 year olds and 22 year olds for a long time… With some washed up veterans and no goaltender sprinkled in
The Sabres don’t need an expansion draft to be good now because we’ve been drafting at the bottom for a decade.. 10 years to right the ship!
But if they got the chance to do an expansion draft tomorrow… Any competent hockey guy could build an extremely great team within the parameters
Literally after year 3 of the knights, we were flush with assets and the rest of the league.

What did the experts say Vegas would finish that year after we got all our players? Last? Second to last? And when the playoffs started, we had no Star players, so the kings should have swept us…. But it’s maybe not that easy. Sounds like you are drinking from the hindsight cup now

I have to quote this again… do you realize how much of our roster has been flipped, including GMs and coaches?! It’s tougher to rebuild after a championship series than anything else, because those players want to get paid. We only have 6 players from that first year and on our 5th goalie this year… give me a flipping break. That’s just showing ineptitude on the Sabres part.
who is the Star player carrying our team? Who is our all star goalie?! We obviously kept half our team from that championship team 6 years ago… or maybe give a little credit to a team with a completely new identity making it back to the finals.
