Was my question as well.... people are celebrating the Milano signing like it’s a big coup but if it cost you the chance at an elite DE or Williams then I think it was badly misplayed by beane, really bad actually

So let’s bounce Williams for one bad game when he played exceptional for the majority of the year and was pivotal to our offense and keeping Allen upright but let’s pay Milano who didn’t impact the chiefs game at all and the defense was down according to expectations for the majority of the year makes logical sense

Wow man ok let’s try again priority is to win the super bowl, To do so we need to overtake the chiefs... I thought this was a known but I’ll make sure I clearly articulate this To do this we need to keep the franchise healthy and rolling so why we wouldn’t prioritize keeping the RT who kept Allen upright seems weird to me, if his price has gone way up then okay I can be convinced we had to let him go but I don’t like the notion that we will just draft one and that it will all just be okay 2. Our defense struggled to get to the passer last year consistently, this defense got shredded in 2 of the 3 playoff games with Milano in the lineup so I’m not convinced at all resigning him for 11M properly addresses the defense and helps us achieve any of the goals I just mentioned with a down cap year IF milano’s contract prevents us from getting Williams or an elite pass rusher I think it was a bad decision is that not crystal clear

Not according to this thread... seems like I’m crazy but I’m honestly shocked some have the stance they do seems obvious to me that protecting Allen should be priority one and improving the pass rush should be number 2 but I guess some would rather gambles Allen’s health and the offense and keep Milano Love the process.... but maybe not this

I’ve been pretty consistent priorities this off-season: protect the franchise (Williams) rush the passer (proven DE) again this isn’t hard

Great let’s release our pro bowl RT and trust a rookie there but make sure we keep Milano, he is much more valuable lol really good stuff here

Nope nobody said that simply asked if this is going to prevent Williams or a pass rusher both more informant and valuable than Milano

Guess we should have kept John brown as well then.... let me ask you this if you could have Lawson or Milano, which would you want? That’s my point, if the contract takes away our ability to keep Williams or sign one of the DE’s being talked about then which makes more sense

who mentioned stats... I haven’t mentioned stats one time as my benchmark. I believe keeping Allen save is priority one and Williams did that so pay him I believe the next step to catch the chiefs is to put pressure on mahomes, enter the pass rusher Milano’s position is valuable but I’m not convinced you can’t find a player like him in the draft much easier than an all pro RT or proven pass rusher

Agreed... don’t get me wrong Milano is a good player and has value but in this cap year I’m doing everything I can to keep Williams (within reason) and get a proven edge rusher linebacker is a luxury not a necessity and I think can be replaced in the draft much easier than a great RT or proven pass rusher

nice man, leave out the playoff game? Come on... the entire point of this off-season is to close the gap with the chiefs you could still get one of the pass rushers but I’m sorry I don’t love the idea of starting a rookie tackle to protect our franchise... I would much rather pay Williams and a proven pass rusher and take my chances finding the next linebacker in the draft than trying to find a future RT to protect our franchise

To not land one of the DE’s would be pretty disappointing in my opinion you are basically repeating last year, it was good but to take the next step the DL needs help rushing the passer want to stop mahomes, get him on the move and hit often... bucs blueprint is right there Exactly why I’m advocating to use the money on the DL, specifically for guys like Lawson or Yannick put them with jerry and Oliver... I think we could see a dominant DL getting after qb’s

If you can get Williams at let’s say 10M a year, you are now good at the tackles spot which we just previously agreed was important now if there is anything left which there should be you can put that towards one of the pass rushers (quite a list) surely we can get one then in the draft you can find the replacement for Milano, it is much easier to find a linebacker to fill his role than impact pass rushers and proven tackles josh Allen is the franchise, asking a rookie RT and Cody Ford at RG doesn’t give me thrills if you know what I mean but hey Milano is back so it is what it is

He isn’t solely responsible but him and Edmunds are primarily tasked to take that stuff away and they didn’t did tremaine add to this, of course but it wasn’t like Milano was creating negative plays or stopping them either

True... Milano isn’t awful, quite good actually but the colts ran the ball and hit passes over the middle all day long on us kelce and the chiefs screen game shredded us isnt this supposed to be what Milano is paid to stop? again this isn’t to tear down Milano, it’s more a discussion of how to spend limited resources and I question if Milano is someone you want to pay 10+ A year for... I don’t see it

My crusade is pay pass rushers and OL, Milano isn’t closing the gap with the chiefs. We saw them in the playoffs, 2 out of 3 games the defense was shredded Pay elite pass rushers or corners, coverage linebackers at 11M a year not unless your last name is David This...

Chiefs two games, how did the defense look? How did the defense look against the colts? 3 playoff games, they were pitiful in two of them but yes let’s pay Milano and keep it going
