  1. You suggesting a preemptive strike?
  2. Please show me where I said you said 'Edwards was great'! But you do seem to react quite vociferously to any criticism of the young, unproven, injury-prone QB. I think your apoplectic anti-Losman sentiment is clouding your vision - you've latched on to something I said about Edwards to morph this into another anti-JP tirade. (Sorry about Meg, BTW - nothing sadder than an unrequited 3rd grade romance. You're better off without her. She was a slut.)
  3. Losman held Jauron back??? He did this while he was sitting on the bench???
  4. No problem, but yes, you did misinterpret my post. Please try to follow along - Bill from NYC & 1billsfan both suggested that Jauron is inept and 'everything they despise in a coach'. Then, 1billsfan went further to say... Now I want Edwards to succeed as much as anyone, 'cause I'm a Bills fan. I simply responded to say how unlikely it is that Edwards would ever stand up to or criticize Jauron and the coaching staff, given statements like these from Edwards... "I sent a text message to him earlier in the week," Quarterback Trent Edwards told us, "and said that I've never respected a person more than I do that coach that I have. I love him to death. I love coming to work for him every day, and I'm just happy that these two years in the league, I've been able to have a boss like that." OK? Now you can go back to building your Trent Edwards shrine.
  5. Huh? Yeah, that must be it. That's the reason I spend my hard-earned $$$ on season tix, parking, etc., and spend my Sundays at RWS or in front of the television watching the Bills every week - to root against Edwards. Right. You realize how ridiculous that notion is? What are you - the founder of the Trent Edwards Fan Club? All I did was make a statement of fact - when Jauron's job was thought to be in jeopardy, it was widely reported that Edwards was texting messages of support to his favorite coach, and his effusive praise of Jauron was all over the newspapers and internet for all to see. You don't recall that?
  6. I'll be ecstatic - they will have already exceeded my expectations by 1 win.
  7. All evidence to the contrary, at least with Trent - he seems to be Jauron's biggest fan, sucking up big-time, and taking umbrage at any criticism of Jauron by the press or the fans. Probably because he and the rest of the team are coddled like fragile children by Dick, something that would never happen under a coach like... Oh, never mind. I think you and Bill are right about 4 wins this season.
  8. 'Bastard', I think...
  9. Leave it to those good Poles in Chi-Town to celebrate twice! I understand that Pulaski Day (March 4) is actually a gov't holiday there, much like Patriots Day in Boston. Here in the BuffTown, most places just sell regular doughnuts and call them 'paczki' - the closest you can get to the real thing is at... Pumpernick's Na Zdrowie!
  10. Agreed - but, at the time, no one knew of the long-term impact of atomic warfare, and there was no sympathy for the Japanese, civilian or otherwise. An unprovoked Sunday morning attack on a sleepy Pearl Harbor and a long, brutal war in the Pacific theater had anti-Japan sentiment at a fever-pitch... Link (These days, of course, it's the international Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids that threatens the planet with nucular annihilation. )
  11. Happy Natal Anniversary, albeit belatedly. I'll quaff an ale in your honor this evening. Cheers
  12. Given a choice, I would - and I think most would - definitely choose instant vaporization over a slow, agonizing death by fire.
  13. You seem to have this overwhelming need to be liked, to be right, to prove you're smarter than everyone, and to have the last word all the time - I'm guessing you get your ass kicked a lot.
  14. I never knew that. After reading your post, I was inspired to do some research. Sure enough, the very Polish tradition is called Tlusty Czwartek - literally 'Fat Thursday'. The whole idea was to empty the pantry of all the sugar, lard, sweets, etc. in preparation for Lent, hence the baking of those oversized pastries called 'Paczki'. Since celebrating Fat Thursday on a Tuesday makes no sense and would likely give birth to a slew of new Polish jokes, its celebration in American Polonia on the Tuesday before Lent is simply called 'Paczki Day'. The Anatomy of a Paczki
  15. 'In air campaigns against Japan during World War II, LeMay abandoned the established policy of daylight, precision bombing. Instead, he loaded his B29's with firebombs and sent them out over Japanese cities during the night. As LeMay described it, the B29's "scorched, boiled and baked to death" some 300,000 people.' So Truman's decision to drop 'The Bomb' likely did save civilian lives. LeMay was a totally demented lunatic who advocated bombing Cuba AND Russia during the Bay of Pigs incident, and was pissed that JFK wouldn't do it. When I think of Lemay, I think of the Gen. Jack D. Ripper character in Dr. Strangelove. 'As head of SAC from 1948 to 1957, LeMay's first war plan - drawn up in 1949 - proposed delivering "the entire stockpile of atomic bombs in a single massive attack" -- dropping 133 atomic bombs on 70 cities within 30 days. By the end of his term, the SAC was on constant alert and ready to execute an all-out atomic attack at a moments notice.'
  16. Sorry. It sucks feeling that way - maybe I'll be more enthusiastic after the free agency & the draft. Right now, the only thing I'm enthusiastic about is that this will be Jauron's last season. After he gets fired, hopefully Ralph wake up and smell the coffee, and will go hire... Mike Leach
  17. I think in this case it was probably more of a, "Why bother, when no one is gonna buy this schitt anyway?)
  18. wow that sucks so bad but really, why spend $$$ on a fancy logo to celebrate 50 years, in a season when you're probably going 3-13, maybe 4-12 at best?
  19. Come on, Promo - you know that wasn't a designed rollout. Peters whiffed on the play and got dusted by a 200-pound safety. JP wasn't 'rolling out' - he was running for his life.
  20. From this morning's Buffalo Snooze... Counterdemonstrators overshadow Kansas fringe group
  21. I think you just did - 'The Double Fred'! I love it - sounds like something you'd order at Freddie's Roast Beef up in Salem, or Saugus, or wherever that place was. I can hear Murph now - "The Bills line up in the 'Double Fred' formation..."
  22. At least the PETA crowd would be pleased! I think this name stuff is getting way too serious. It's a pro sports team we're talking about - it's for entertainment, and the logo, mascot, etc. isn't supposed to have any profound meaning or poignant symbolism, ferchrissakes! I love the Bills' name and theme just as they are, except the current uni's suck.
