The play clock is kept by the back judge I believe; what you see on the screen is not the official clock, just an estimate.
This rule is for the game clock only, it will not affect the play clock.

I've got a funny John Calipari story but can't remember if I've told it; apologies if it's a repeat:
He's from Western PA, not too distant from me and played ball at Clarion U, also not too far from me.
One of my best friends was a student there at the same time and lived with a few guys in a rental where Calipari was a property manager for the landlord.
One day Calipari comes by the property for something, thought he was a BMOC and started running his snotty little yap about the music being loud.
My buddy literally threw him out a window.
