Hmmm does this deserve a "sarcastic" or "im kidding folks" font? I can't imagine a post on this when EVERY fan base has their version of this derogatory term. If not....then billsy has gone woke

    We're all woke down here

Over/Under on the number of times Billsy gets used in the game day thread tonight?

Are we talking 1st, or 2nd half, or overall?

+/- 115 total would be my guess

I could be way off though. Depends how the game goes. Depends how the Bills play

So yeah, the commanders just beat the lowly pats in New England.  How bad does that loss to the pats look now?  Yeah, pretty BILLSY.   THE chiefs and fins played a great, energetic game today in GERMANY.  Not one mention of jet lag affecting the quality of play.   Yet for two weeks all we heard was how travel was badly handled, even tho the chiefs also got in on Friday, and we had to suffer the excuses of how the bills started w no urgency and that carried over to the bucs first half. YEAH, that is BILLSY whining that you seldom hear regarding other organizations.

And , after Aaron rodgers goes out on the 4th play, our vaunted team proceeds to lose to a Wilson lead team , who literally had a questionable future with the jets.     We lost on the last play to the pats after having the lead , giving up a 75 yard TD drive to Mac jones , losing on the same play to a te that we barely defended against the giants , winning on the last play that game to a vastly inferior roster.  Yeah, that’s BILLSY.  After giving up two Hail Mary passes  in prior games, we just let another one hit the ground with a buc just a head turn away from a winning catch as BILLS players like Poyer were lying on the ground.   Yep, that’s a BILLSY THING

13 seconds.  BILLSY thing.  Wide right, BILLSY THING.  Losing a 16 point lead in the playoffs,,,,hmmm,,,BILLSY THING. Let’s not mention the other 3 super bowls.

MAYBE, someday BILLSY  will be an adjective or synonym for greatness. Right now it is what it is and it fits too well. THEY CAN CHANGE IT, FIX IT , REAPPROPRIATE IT!  Let’s see which way the pendulum falls tonight.  If its a 1 possession game , and we lead but the D has to stop BURROWS,,,,,mmmmm, just saying right at this point in history ,,,,,my faith is on the BILLSY thing.  Lol.

Lighten up man,,,it’s just a wonderful distraction for so many weeks.  In the end ,,we are just seen as all pro coach oc’s who have no reasonable clue how to judge good vs bad play and we are not part of their fraternity.  They do appreciate donations tho to their foundations or any activity where they are financially rewarded  to do the really strenuous work of sitting and signing objects. Heaven forbid we jokingly describe a human beings acceptable , occasional foibles as being BILLSY!  AFTER ALL, they only deserve praise.  ( forgive the tongue in cheek stuff,,,but real hero’s like good parents deserve  more attention than the original ludicris poll)

Jesus, I was wrong @Orlando Tim this guy is CLEARLY the problem

Billsy is a slap in the face to fans? Dude you take yourself far to seriously. I use it all the time and I take football too seriously but if it bothers you make fun of them

The Falcons just found a Billsy way to lose. TD in the final seconds does them in.

I’m not sure if I ever typed that word before, but I was feeling inspired.  😋

You are wrong about this and wrong about the idea that all fan bases think they are the best.    As a Miami Hurricanes fan(family school) I can assure you our fans aren't the best and it's generally accepted as fact by the fan base.

But back to the point......not all fan bases have a term to describe their futility.   When I coined "Billsy" here on TSW it wasn't because of any other fan base that had a similar reference..........it just fit.   It doesn't have a specific definition and doesn't need to.    It represented the tendency to do the wrong thing during a very long period of mediocrity.

I mean havent we as fans, moved past the drought.  Things happen in the NFL and it's not exclusive to the Bills. I just think if we're truly as highly regarded as we say/think we are then a term like "Billsy" is a slap in the face to fans. Why would I want to support a team I, and others, think is "Billsy"?

First all Fans think they are the best fans in football. Also Brady won 3 SB in his first 4 years as a starter, and was in one every other year.. during his tenure wasn’t much to ever say “Patsy” for.  I think for Bills fans the Bills keep doing dumb things hurt themselves.. like playing badly against a very bad Pats and Giants teams.. That’s why “Billsy” lives on IMO.  I mean could be worse Jet fans think it stand for Just End The Season. Lol

That's just how the NFL is though, the close games like that are a part of the parity in the league. It's just the nature of the beast and not a trait that espouses the failures of a singular franchise.

And man, being a Jets fan would suck, especially this year. You think you might have a solution at qb, Sanchez, Darnold, Wilson, they all suck, and then you go out and get a proven winner, Rodgers, and he blows his Achilles like 5 plays into the season.  At least they have a defense that might carry them out of a good pick this year lol

It’s ok until they win a Super Bowl. Then outlawed

I don't hate it. Except then would it be an endearing term. Like the B***** thing to do is win the superbowl.

All fan bases have a term like this.. “a very Patsy thing to do” was very common in the early 90’s and is making a strong comeback the last 3 years..

That's a good point, but how many times did it come up when Brady was playing? I understand it, I just think that a community of adults shouldn't use the term like a bunch of children, when things go a little haywire.

It's like you said. All fans, to some extent do this, but as "the best fans" in football shouldn't we as a collective hold ourselves to a higher standard. Than lamenting past failures and looking for any shred of correlation between now and then

I use it all the time...lol.  in fact I used it during the KC MIA game this morning.

Exactly! A game where there's 'essentially' no Bills relevance this term is used to describe what exactly?

Please, explain how/why you use(d) it?

Whether I think it's dumb, annoying or self defeating, creating an entire thread to whine about it and ask for it to be censored to spare your feelings is somehow worse.

My feelings are irrelevant in this discussion. This a term that's used almost explicitly in a DEROGATORY manner to describe the Bills on a Bills forum.

    Why should that be allowed?

  11. I'm here today to make a formal request to the incredible mod team here on Two Bills Drive.

I'm sick and tired of fans on this forum using the term "Billsy" as a disingenuous way to compare anything regarding NFL teams, in particular our beloved Bills, to the way the Bills have performed in the past.

I find that this term is childish, pedantic, and frankly detrimental to the Bills organization as a whole. I would whole heartedly support the censoring of this term as many other words are censored on these boards.

Admittedly, I'm probably in the minority here, so I propose, we have a community-wide vote and the results stand.

I can see some of your point.  However,   2 points of my own.

If you want to experiment, do it after the game is locked down.

Take wins when you can get them.   No guarantee your going to win harder games later in the year

That's certainly a valid point and it's not time to panic because they're still in a playoff position. If management essentially "resigned" themselves to playing an extra game, potentially away, then why not. I mean realistically the team probably plays better away from the elements in January. What if they said that wherever they finish is fine since they have so much faith in the team to put it all together and win 4 games in a row at the end of the year, regardless of venue. They say seeds 1-7 are all (comparably) valuable because they're all going to the dance. 1 stands above the rest with the bye and 2-7 carry similar weight since it's the same number of games.. the travel and fans might be an impact but otherwise it's nothing when it could be in a dome or nice weather somewhere away from Buffalo.

So the offense has been a cluster ***** of bad ideas for the sake of getting better....    scratching my head...i would think there would be a better option.

I mean the Bills could pull out all the stops against the Pats or they could save the sauce for the upcoming stretch. Why would you put plays on tape for the Chiefs, Bengals, Eagles, etc. When the team is capable of winning games with a gameplan designed to "fail forward".  Which, in essence, is about working different concepts in order that the offense can do more later in the season when the games mean more and the stakes are higher.  Despite what many on here believe,  these guys at the top are all incredibly smart. And to say that there aren't varying levels of long and short term strategies that teams implement (across games, months, a season, longer) is asinine.

I'm not going to pick on you or call you stupid like others here...

Honest question though: what have you seen that shows they aren't weak mentally? That's all I've seen for almost a year now. They don't handle adversity, not just not well, they don't handle it at all. Since GB last year it's a different team. You have to have seen that? No swagger. No killer instinct. Playing down to opponents. Josh struggling with easy throws or not making them.

I'm actually beginning to think the team is giving up on the coaching as well. Josh is less engaged and less prepared this year than recent years, and seems to be not doing the things he was finally getting good at pre-snap.

So I'm in general agreeance, and I posted as such yesterday; that they could go on a run late and have the talent to do so. But 3 losses already, and bad performances against bad teams... They need to pull it together QUICK

If the 2008 Giants can win against the Patriots, it's fair to say that as long as you're in can make some magic happen.  The Bills have battled it out for the 1st seed the past few years and maybe they collectively took a less aggressive approach to stacking and are focusing on implementing different gameplans in order to be able to attack and control the game in different ways. The players know this and are only working specific sets, formations, and plays.

Late in the year, being multiple and having the ability to shift gears, so to speak, allows you to take a varied and stratecally beneficial approach to in game situations. (I.e the Bills have the ball with 7 minutes left to go in the game, they can run a 7 minute drive to win. Or 4 minutes. Maybe your defense gets a turn over and you want to attack now. Or slow ball it to get the defense recovered after a long opposing drive)

Oh man I’ve heard it all now. They’re just looking at these games as practices. Lol

Like Kyle Brandt said on GMFB this morning ‘Bills aren’t the Chiefs’. They’re not good enough to be lackadaisical and expect to win.

Maybe in the minds of some of the players, yes. Could be what the meetings about? Idk, never know.  You're talking about guys with huge egos who've been playing at one of the highest levels in the sport. I'm sure Mac Jones really scared them into being the most focused they could be for that game.

This is quite possibly the most moronic, head-in-the-sand, ill-conceived post of the year.

OP, you are the Neville Chamberlain of football strategists.

I don't know who that is so I'll take it as a compliment.

I guess I should assume all of the players in the Bills locker room are as mentally and emotionally week as countless posters on the board (including you?). Any thought to the contrary are 'moronic and ill-conceived'
