You know he’d  build a winner and be a SB regular within 2 years. Anytime he’s had a good QB he wins big( Stanford, SF, Michigan)

He would walk back into the NFL with the highest winning percentage of any coach in the NFL.  I’d be pumped to see what he could do with Allen.

Everyone wants Ben Johnson. I think he would value walking into a Josh led offense. Another great job would be the Chargers with Herbert and better weather. The Pegulas seem OK with Sean and Beane is joined at the hip with him. The next best thing is grabbing a college coach with professional experience.

I’d throw the entire Pegula bank account at Harbaugh.  Yeah, he’s nuts, but he wins.  Just win.

I think McDermott sticks around for at least another season. I could see Pegula making a move before the new stadium opens in 2026 if team continues to underperform. However, if/when there is a new HC it should be someone on the offensive side of the ball to pair with the QB. I do think despite what has been said that Dorsey is on the hot seat and could be fired in the offseason if team fails to turn things around.

I suspect McTeflon will stay another year, but he should have been fired after last season, so maybe one more complete washout here gets it done.  Something is going on behind the scenes, I have a feeling it gets REAL ugly in the off-season.  I would love to see a house cleaning and a re-set year.   Wasting Allen like this is criminal.

I have figured that was one of the issues with how this team is currently built.

High cap players that spend too much time on IR, and often too much runway needed to develop drafted and UFA players on rookie deals to be solid starters. I know the narrative was that it was a testament to the team's patience getting Epenesa to a place where he was more of an impact player on the defensive line, but the team also does not get better end of that deal with a learning curve consuming much of their rookie contract.

We have plugged those roles where we lack impact players with older players that are solid when healthy, but more prone to injury and have had to burn a good amount of cap to do so. Some hard decisions are going to have to be made at some point on how to best retool. And that means letting players OBD has become attached to walk if they are not exceptional players that can serve as cornerstone pieces of the puzzle.

Thankfully, they at least showed they could part with Edmunds, too bad they locked in on Oliver, that was stupid.  They need to effectively retool half the D this off-season.  It should have been done 2 years ago, but now they have no choice and they wasted another first round pick on a guy they are getting nothing out of on D already.  It’s going to add up to another year of nothing to help JA and a ton of resources going to fix a mediocre D.  Vicious cycle.

    Of course they wouldn't.

He's already about as good a passer as Josh.

    Stroud: 2,626 yards / 15 passing TDs / 2 INTs / 102.9 passer rating

    Allen:  2,423 yards / 18 passing TDs / 9 INT's / 99.6 passer rating

Allen's got him beat on rushing, with 233 yards / 6 TDs (2 fumbles) vs Stroud's 86 yards / 2 TDs (0 fumbles), but Stroud is also only 22 years old. On the flipside, I don't think the Bills would take that trade either though, so it's purely fantasy anyway.

Stroud is a better passer than Allen already, not as good, better.   I think at this point the trade offer would be Allen and a first for Stroud and the Texans would still reject it.

Allen is on the decent already and has a massive contract, Stroud is coming up and cheap for years to come.

I love the opening sentence, "Let’s strip away all on-field results from the 2023 Buffalo Bills for a second."

This is how you create a false narrative. Whether it is politics, at work, or socially, the way to misguide and absolve yourself of being incorrect is to establish a paradigm that eliminates facts that contradict your point. Laughable.

So take a way the barely over .500 record because that somehow would make McD look BETTER?

Mahomes is struggling with a similar model … an elite weapon, a good OL and then a bunch of guys.  They’re integrating some RD2 WR’s and we’re integrating rookie Kincaid.

Difference is their defense is healthy and dominating.

Ours is injured and likely the difference between at worst 6-3, now 5-4.

But we all knew we didn’t have enough on offense.   KC has super bowls and an offensive guru in Reid to hope they figure it out.

Maholmes is struggling, but at very least he has Reid on his side and knows what Andy teaches is a winning philosophy.  Josh doesn’t have that.   Also, Maholmes came up in a system that had more to work with and they had no D, so they spent there to get that, but they also invested a lot of draft capital in the offense, a lot of those picks haven’t worked out the way they might have wanted, but it looks like Rice is pretty good, and Pacheco is a starting RB, they definitely don’t have great WRs though.   The Bills essentially have given Allen, Diggs and just wasted a ton of resources on the D.  It’s not like he’s ever had anything to work with and is being supported by not having to be perfect.

Again, Allen has regressed, a lot.  That said, I have to put that at 20% him, 30% terrible roster management and 50% coaching.

I would rather watch a team with a chance to beat anyone than a team that we cover our eyes and hope they don't lose by 30.

You think you're funny or something?

Sorry I'm not just a standard knee-jerk Bills fan that wants a little nuance.

If we fire him, I hope we make the Super Bowl and he beats us. I really do. We would 100% deserve it.

So you are cool with “good enough” and won’t take a chance to be great.  This fear the world mentality gets you no where.

I don't think he trusts anything going on out there.

We also don't have the talent people want to believe we do.  Diggs, Kincaid & a good OL should be enough to be way better than we've been, but outside of that he's throwing to a RD4 WR and RD5 WR.   They're ok.. but it's getting to the point where Shakir may be a more reliable option than Davis.. which isn't saying much.

Combine that with our OC seeming incapable of adjustments or any semblance of cohesive game-flow and we get what we've been seeing.

....which makes Josh Allen look like what the OP alludes to.

I think this is the real situation.  I don’t think he trusts what he’s being taught and that’s leading to hesitation.  I think there’s a pretty strong lack of faith in Davis at this point too, he seems to double take before throwing to him and it’s causing problems.  Josh is playing  terrible, no two ways about that.

Unfortunately, we are looking at Carolina w Newton all over again.  We are relying on the QB to play Superman with basically one weapon and a bunch of JAGs, wasting resources on the D, and multiple picks on RBs.  Without an MVP, near perfect season from Allen, the team loses.   This is not a winning model and it’s certainly not sustainable.  A big reason we have the geniuses we have in charge here today was that poor model that allowed you to win in the regular season and get blown up in the playoffs, while running their unicorn into the ground.  We were fortunate enough to land an extra magical unicorn and in short order, have him on the way to the slaughter house.

I hope he comes in and lights it up, because I think he is better than about 25% of the quarterbacks playing in the league right now, but for some reason, no one wanted him.

Plain and simple, he’s not better than any of the current starters out there.  He is on par with Darnold, plus he’s a dick.

Not that I hold wentz in highest regard but I’ll take this as a win. Wentz is 10x the QB that Wilson is. With that elite defense please keep the QBS away. Can’t believe they are still rolling with Zach

I don’t see it as much of an improvement to be honest.  I’m surprised the Jets didn’t find someone to make a deal for at the deadline or  try to resurrect the corpse of Matt Ryan / Flacco.  Bet they are wishing the could have held onto White instead of being handcuffed with Wilson, I bet they would have another 2-3 wins if they had.

Great, can’t wait to hire some mediocre Brandon Staley/Matt Nagy clone to appease the “offense only” crowd and watch us finish 7-10 every season.

If we fire McD I hope he wins five super bowls.

Guess you would rather watch a 12-5 season (or worse) with all the wins coming over teams with losing records and never having a chance against real teams.   That’s just purgatory.
