I don't see anyone here calling for his head at this point in this thread.

However, If Allen suffers a severe injury, concussion running the ball I could see that changing very quickly. Watching that hit on Allen in that video I linked by the Patriots should send chills down every Bills fans spine.

Even the Bills GM Brandon Beane stated that the team needs to focus on building a better run game.

As to my earlier point, if Daboll is so good at developing QB Josh Allen, then what happened to Nathan Peterman? Why didn't that young, inexperienced QB evolve into even a decent backup under Daboll?

It's my contention that Daboll has called the Bills offense from the very start like he has an experienced, veteran QB behind center and he hasn't had that before this season. This year, in his third season, Josh Allen has evolved into a top QB in this passing scheme.

I also feel that Daboll is riding Josh Allen's coattails in using the kid to show how great "his' passing offensive scheme is...and utilizing him with designed runs because he can't figure out how to get more out of the RBs on the roster.

If the man is such a good offensive coordinator, then why does the Buffalo Bills run game look like such a dismal failure with just the Bills RB's?

That 13-3 regular season record and division championship, and post season wins does say he is doing most things right, wouldn’t ya think..., that and there's more to it than meets the eye, we had Ford injured then out on IR, and Spain who the previous season was a fine run blocker, then he got to big for his britches..., having both out/gone made a big difference in the run game, this past season, ya can’t just poop out a good O line guy and call it a day... it ain’t that easy... it’s like you don’t think the coaching staff is busy trying to fix the issue, cool yer jets a little😁👍

He may be best remembered as dying at a way too yound age of 42 in a plane crash but I'll remember him for something different.

The guy dressed in NFL related garb on the golf course. Here he is pictured blasting out of the sand wearing Bills gear.

One of a kind.....or, were there other in the entertainment/sports world?

I didn’t know he sported Bills gear, pretty cool if you ask me,

It is what we do. Blaming offensive coordinators is a hobby around here.

BD has had a few less than stellar seasons as an OC, and it is fair to suggest that those performances may have been part of why only two teams asked for interviews for head coaching positions.

We all want him to have more success, for very obvious reasons. For all any of us know BD may have his ducks in a row, and be on his way to pro football coaching stardom, I for one hope so.

  4. What Lee says about Knox is diametrically opposed to a large number of posters here.
I too like to bust Knox once in a while 😁.

I like what he says about getting open as the key to being a good WR, Beasley ain’t fast, he is quick, and he gets open,
combine that with what, hardly any drops, Beasley is way under rated.

Nice interview, thanks for posting it, 👍

I have a general policy as it relates to the draft:

I never, ever get mad at the Bills for drafting big uglies.

No matter what else changes in the NFL, games are still won and lost in the trenches.

OL and DL are never "sexy picks", but they are crucial to sustained success. Look no further than the result of this year's Super Bowl for proof positive.

“The game is won and lost in the trenches”

That old true-ism persists because it’s true...

  6. Both Singletary and Moss are #2s, they aren’t ever going to be #1s,  although he is faster, Hawkins is as mentioned, undersized, we do not need a third #2 RB, it would be okay as Gunner said, as 6th or 7th round pick.  If the offensive line and the RBs can get on the same page, our current talent will look much better, an improvement on the O line will be more beneficial as a whole.  Although a bigger faster RB would be really nice to have...

If they don’t re-sign Barkley, it Means they think Davis Webb is ready to be the 2.  Otherwise, I don’t see them going out to get someone better than Barkley. And from the article, not sure any of those guys are better than Barkley anyway.

Webb has the play book knowledge that’s needed, and a better arm than Barkley, and will be inexpensive to to promote to Bu QB,  in a season with financial constraints Webb is a likely selection if they don’t stick with Barkley.  Fromm?, Fromm is the C-19 back up for the foreseeable future.

  8. Being that they have rarely used him in how many years now... what purpose does he fill on the O and is that worth the money...

Yeldon has been a good option that was virtually not used, so unless SM has a change planned for the RB group he is gone, to Yeldon’s credit, he made a bunch of money working out for a living, pretty good gig if I do day do myself,

Quittin' Spain was all on him.  He got a new contract, came into camp out of shape, Bills tried him for 2 games as starter and he was ineffective, he was made a backup for 2 games and not much more effective and then is healthy when he goes on plane to Tennessee but has foot issues when he gets off and does not play another down.

At least he made an effort.  Quittin' Spain had a large contract and made little effort.

I hope he stewed at home being out of playoffs.

Spain did get to big for his britches and screwed the team, that is a given.

That does not make what I said less true. We miss what he used to supply to the O line, and that needs to be replicated, the sooner the better. Pretty simple really.

I would have to say Mitch Morse.  I think he's an outstanding pass-protecting center (the most important thing for our offense) and good in the run game if used correctly eg to pull, not as a power bruiser.

Yet everyone seems to want him to be cut (at the expense of a big dead cap hit and not very large savings) and replaced by a popular guard who is a competent center, but neither as good in pass protection as Mitch, and was not as good in the run or pass game as some seem to believe.

    This ^^^

The run game was for all intents an afterthought this past season, mostly because Allen and the receivers were ripping it up for the majority of the season, but even the running plays that were called were uninspired, and did not use the best abilities of the O line or the running backs. That and as much as no one talks about it, not having Spain, and a healthy Ford run blocking showed this past season.  Look back to the season before last, the run play calling was substantially better on every level, as was the blocking.  It is my hope that Beane’s appropriate kick in the pants that he delivered post season to those that are responsible for the drop off takes hold. Anyway, jmo.
