It's a desperation move.  The Patriots are running out of options. And check out Newton's 2019 season at Carolina before he was hurt to see that the guy was already sliding fast.

If the Jets & Dolphins aren't careful the Bills will inherent an AFC East every bit as inept as the one that NE enjoyed for 20 years.

I one can only hope... 😁👍

Sure... but I think the point made by some in this thread is an edge rusher is a bigger need than keeping Milano. This move may prohibit them from acquiring that guy. But again, maybe they can do both.

And if they let Milano go they will have increased the teams needs, and the work needed to replace yet another position, folk need to realize Beane knows how to do more than one thing at a time, it’s not like these acquisitions are happening in a vacuum...

And no said he hasn’t been. Some of you get too sensitive about things.  There has not been one negative thing said about Milano the player. The only question (for discussion since this is a discussion board) is could the money have been spend in another way to help the team out more.

I mean we could have a cult here and just all say how awesome everything is all the time (and it’s been an awesome time to be a Bills fan no doubt).  But personally, I like differing opinions if they are rational. So saying Milano is a very good player but could the money be used for a more premier position is a fair discussion and it has been a fairly reasonable back and forth. JMO.

Oh I definitely agree with that. I think some of the projections of what Milano could have gotten on the open market are a little off because the cap went down and there are going to be more quality FAs because of all the cuts teams have to make.

but for sure, GM is a really tough job and we have a very good GM.

Don’t misunderstand me, it’s just that some here expect our GM and HC to be perfect and when they are not the “ I told you so” nonsense rears it’s head, humans don’t do perfect, and back and forth debates really do need to reflect that fact. I fully expect Beane to have at least one or two acquisitions that don’t pan out every season, it’s a given imo,

This post doesn’t make sense to me. McBeane have done an amazing job. But you couldn’t question trading up Zay Jones? Or trading for Kelvin Benjamin? Or signing Trent Murphy? Or repeatedly trying to make Peterman a thing?

you know it’s ok to love a team and question a few decisions. And I don’t think I’ve seen one post not saying Matt isn’t a good player. But he does have some health concerns (tough dude but he is undersized) and even with the “discount”, it’s a lot of money that some think could have been used for something else that might be a bigger need.

what’s up with our society that everyone just wants to live in echo chamber of the same thoughts?

So your gonna cling to what happened three years ago? And ignore his taking the blame for screwing up, and then doing a far better job after that?

No GM is perfect, we all know that,  but by all measurable standards the Bills have been doing really well in player acquisitions (draft & FA) over the last two plus years, and the trend is that it will continue as such. Beane’s success percentage is top five in the whole damn league, I’m not gonna search for it but there was a thread comparing all the teams success percentage a week ish back and showed this to be the case.  Anyway, it’s gonna be an exciting off season, with much happiness and gnashing of teeth, enjoy it.

Thank you. This injury “concern” stuff is BS. The dude had a banged up season. Before this he had missed merely a handful of game’s in 3 seasons.

I have no idea why some posters need to make things up to act like this isn’t a good deal. People will do absolutely anything they can to be a contrarian these days. Anything to feel like they know something the masses don’t.

acting like the dude is a lock to miss 4 or 5 games a year is just foolish.

It’s the usual suspects of course, these few some how have convinced themselves they know more about the entirety of what is going on with the Bills and the rest of the NFL than our GM does...,  life on the forums, it’s always entertaining, 😁👍

    Glass houses my fellow fans...

Bills did the same thing two years ago with 4 of 5 new starters on the line.

Bills will be in the similar cap situation when Allen's contract kicks in.

KC is just in even worse shape because of the one year drop in the cap.

Major difference was the Bills had virtually no O line talent to speak of two seasons ago, and then upgraded it, KC is doing the reverse of what the Bills did...

That and I suspect Josh Allen won’t cut his nose off to spite his face, contract wise, he comes off as being more sensible, jmo.

Defense had little to do with that,  if i recall Kelce and Mahomes played catch with Milano in the middle.  Sean said they needed to improve their pass rush,  not sure how this would help

I don’t know ND, just maybe not having a massive hole in your LB Corp might be helpful in some way or another..., anyway, Beane is not winging this, he has a plan A, B, and C, with multiple backup plans as needed, he is doing a damn good job, By the way how did that WRs team do that you wanted so badly? It’s never about one guy, it’s about how all the pieces fit and work together.

Trust me on this one,  too much and we could have upgraded the position with a couple million more.  Milano would have not received an offer close to this on open market with the flood of players being released and low cap number of 183mll.  I will be right again,  just like when i said we should have drafted Metcalf or signing Murphy would be a total bust or our defense was not good enough to make to to the SUPER BOWL.  End of the day we still don't have anyone to cover Kelce or other TE'S in this league which we were worse in the NFL at doing,  paying Milano more is not changing the result of that. Right now we have one big play maker on defense and that is White,  we needed to add at least one of two this offseason and that does not look like it will happen.

13-3 regular season record, division champs, One game from the super bowl, and some fans  think Beane doesn’t know what he is doing, pretty amazing don’t you think...

    Go Bills!!!

to be honest it also may speak of the player. i think he is an odd duck. he has some sort of vow of poverty. im not making it up.

It’s not a poverty vow in the slightest, he is just a minimalist when it comes to material possessions, (doesn’t waste his money on crap that’s gonna be in a land fill in year or two). Matt is gonna die a rich man, after living a full life, good on him!

If they make the wrong decision and take a running back early I hope they at least don't put the process on "Bills embedded" like when Beane hungrily jumped up for Cody Ford.    Passing on DK and AJ (oh and Elgton Jenkins @Logic) was bad enough.    This isn't 1988.......taking a RB early is a BAD play.

How many different ways and for how long are you going to say this same thing in every single Beane oriented thread? Asking for a friend😂 you’re as bad as I am when it comes to this technique... 👍

The rest of the world you can work for 30 + years. These guys have a very limited window. And you can not fire people who were inured while working. There are workplace rules for that in almost every industry but NFL gets to play by different rules.

I don’t want the MLB or NBA fully guaranteed model where you can't cut guys for poor play. But there should be more protection for guys that are cut while injured. Even something as simple as the team must still pay them but does not affect the cap until they can play, play for another team, or truly retire.

Those guys are allowed to find employment after playing football ya know, 😁 it’s no different than anyone else having to retrain themselves to be employable, they are not in a protected class, 👍 I don’t understand why so many fans think these guys should not have to get a damn job after there playing time is up, if they didn’t earn a lot or pissed away what they did earn, it’s kinda comical that folk think that way.

And I am quite certain that the team followed the rules  that apply when they were cut, otherwise it would cost the team even more money...because the players union would go berserk otherwise. Much ado over nothing is what I’m thinking.

    Go Bills!!!
