It’s not our running backs, it’s the line. They can’t run block. A 1st/2nd on a RB is a waste of a pick unless someone like ETN or the guy from Alabama fall.

Generically speaking it was the O line, but upon a little investigation what shows up is that it was a combination of player injuries and the timing of those injuries that caused our best guys to not take a single snap together as a unit throughout the entire season, that and Spain being an azs about actually doing his job, and getting himself fired, are the root causes of the run game floundering so badly. Throw in poor scheming, and you’ve got the icing on a cake no one wanted a piece of.  To our benefit Beane understands this, jmo.

Don't forget Overdorf was also the guy writing the contracts back before Beane got here and put the Bills in cap hell i think Beane has a lot more input when it comes to that now because it's no where near what it use to be & most every contract is Bills friendly .

Beane gives Overdorf a set of instructions, and Overdorf then follows them, the days of Overdorf having decision making authority are gone, and that is a very good thing. Beanes approval is a requirement on all contracts.

Boettger is still un-signed, last I knew anyway, though it seems that it would be easy enough to bring him back. Now that we've got all that done ...

OL, pass rusher, CB, TE, WR and also maybe 1-tech and RB, probably in the later rounds. Pretty much the same as it has been, really, but less concern with OT and more with G/C.

Beane's way has been to find guys in FA so we're not forced to go any particular direction in the draft if we don't want to, and then he drafts BPA at the same positions that seemed to be weaknesses before FA. Not that this guarantees he'll do the same this year, but that's probably the way to bet.

Yup, Beane has been BPA at positions of need since day one, that is certainly a safe bet, but no guarantee as you said. It’s nice though to have a GM that doesn’t play Madtasy with our team...

A lot of their struggles was scheme and commitment. Every single RB averaged over 4 yards per carry.

Singletary looked completely different from his rookie year. Not much changed personnel wise. They did have a lot more injuries to the OL. Beane mentioned that Ford - Morse - Feliciano didn't play 1 snap together all year.

    This right here ^^^

The above,  plus Spain being an azs, we lost the cohesion we would otherwise have had in the run game, to me it’s kind of stunning that more folk don’t grasp this, and pretend it was Moss and Singletary sucking... when it was kind of a perfect storm for a mediocre run game.

Agreed.. our pass blocking is above average, but the Colts DL was no joke, and Josh Allen did a lot of his damage in evading pressure.

Not to rehash that game, but my point was that the Colts had arguable THE best OL in football and a top end DL to go with it, and they lost to the Bills because of our skill position players at QB & WR.

Yes our Skill player are better than theirs,

I agree wholeheartedly in focusing on the trenches, but the Colts had a better OL and DL than us... and we beat them in the Playoffs mainly due to Josh Allen and our WR’s.

Just saying.. it isn’t the end all, be all.

Our pass blocking is above average, and with JA slinging the ball we are gonna do fine passing the majority of the time, run blocking on the other hand, not so much... we have two RBs that performance wise were mediocre this past year, no doubt, but that was mostly because running plays were poorly executed / designed for the vast majority of the season. This aspect I grant you is certainly in need of attention.

Our line is fine. It was all last season. We have 3 of those guys returning. It's one of the least of our concerns

Our O line is fine most of the time as far as pass blocking goes, as to run blocking the O line as it currently sits was noticeably lacking as was stated by our GM at the season end PC, but hell, why take his word for it...

The D lines run stopping issues are also well known, but yah, let’s ignore that too... because the lines holding up on every play is of no consequence evidently...
