The NFL players union is an absolute joke. Both of these players injured while playing now are without a job. Say all you want about these guys earing millions for playing a game, it is still a business. That they can just cut a guy with a valid contract who was injured while playing for your franchise is terrible.
People on this board routinely tear into players for holding out for new contracts and guaranteed money. This is why they do it. Both of these guys are model players in every respect for that organization and they are just let go.
How’s that any different than the rest of the working world? Ages ago I was cut from the bank I worked at one week before the annual bonus, and two weeks before Christmas, and that was after exceeding all my scheduled performance goals..., life is like that...

Not this season, currently the team has something around 18 to 25 mil in cap space from what I’ve read, jmo. I could be wrong of course, but I think your source is mistaken,

Poor guy, he’s still the whipping boy, and he’s not even on the team... 😂

Many good choices presented, I think of this question more in position groups, so I’m hoping for both O & D lines / the run game, if those groups make a notable jump, every other position group benefits substantially.
Go Bills!!!

There should not be any comp picks period, losing players in FA should be a normal part of doing business, there is in actuality no valid reason for it to exist, being that it happens to all teams, it makes a level playing field, to bad for teams that are not able to control their cap issues, cry me a river...

What? Did the pats get more comp picks already...?

I think that Beane wants the Bills to a perennial contender, and has only little interest in the flash in the pan concepts, it’s not that he won’t do a Diggs type of deal every so often, but he is very pragmatic in his approach to running a football team, which is a very good thing for Buffalo, jmo.

Would have liked to retain him, he was an important piece in the teams growth, thanks JB 👍

I don't know what to think of AJ. I guess I don't understand the weight loss. Don't know if it was his decision or the teams either.
He excelled in college as a bull rusher and disruption using his size and strength. He's not athletic as his combine results showed that glaringly. The thought was he's not going to be able to push around NFL offensive lineman like he did to the smaller college players.
But hey it was his strength so I was interested to see if he could push the pocket in the NFL getting moved around the line.
Then the weight loss happened. Now he's not big enough to do what he excelled at and he's still not athletic enough to be an edge rusher.
Very interested to see how his career plays out because I agree that he got better.
From what I have read, the team told him to lose weight after being drafted, his bull rush technique wasn’t producing success as RBs and TEs were being used this block him at times. AJE had to learn a new way to be successful, and that is what he and his coaches have been working on, as has been stated he was seeing some success doing so. I suspect he will have more impact this upcoming season, we have a staff that appears to know how to develop players, unlike in our not so distant past...
Go Bills!!!

But but but... I read here that AJE was... 😁
Go Bills!!!

We sure as hell hope so...

It hard to know, he supposedly has very good hands, so a # 4 thru 6 type of guy at the moment, but that can change depending on happenstance.

How much say does the players union have over the cap being lowered or raised? I was under the impression that the union only has a say as to the cap dollars distribution percentages, if so, is the actual cap amount controlled by the owners group, who knows the actual answer to this question?

Completely disagree. When you have 5 concussions you are basically playing on borrowed time to begin with. They had an out and should have taken it. Josh needs to be paired with a young center for the next 10 years (Landon Dickerson?) and while it's fun to picture Morse starting for 16 games it just isn't likely to happen.
There are a lot more players with five and more concussions under contract in the league than most realize, and they will all be playing this upcoming season. Hell if you count youth, high school, college and pro time in football, the numbers of players with multiple concussions is very likely much higher than the league or those players want anyone to know.

This, under the current circumstances has always been the real outcome for the team and Morse, Morse was never getting cut. I found it amusing that a vocal few thought he was a candidate to be cut. Moving on to the next Beane move👍

It was a good decision IMO and I still see this attitude on this board that it is okay to bash women working for Bills on this board.
I’m not a member of the Kim Pegula has no valid reason to be president/ owner of the team club, Quite contrary, I like that she calls the shots, it’s good for society in general, additionally because it causes such distress for a certain segment of the fan base, 😁👍
What I saw was that the team went downhill real fast after that altercation. So from a team success viewpoint someone made bad decisions...

And hope good people do not have a bad day and call the owner's daughter a B word.
Do we have to rehash Ralph’s horrifying decision making yet again...

Beane said Morse didn't fit the power run blocking scheme they moved to towards the end of the season. Morse is definitely in danger of being released. Brown is pretty much gone.
By the supposed power run blocking scheme standard, the entire O line would need to be cut, being in actuality we never had a power run game to speak of except for like maybe two games..., and those were not toward the end of the season, 😁 being we are a pass first team, and Morse is one of the league’s best pass blocking centers... just sayin, 👍

Be honest. You were the last guy to play on the team but celebrated like you were the star when you won. 😉
Would take Watson with number 1 defense like Wilson had early in his career? I think Wilson and Watson are top 5 qbs with Dak top 10. But there are so many factors that go into winning in the nfl. I can’t believe some fans don’t understand this.
It works in either direction 😁👍

Wow, “profound” and “pretension” that’s rather pretentiously profound, 😂

I think Garrett is still worse lol
This is a horrible post.
But true none the less, if you lose the game you are the loser, regardless of any individual performance by a member of the losing team. What kind of sissy mind set do some folk employ to deflect that the team that lost are the losers, from the water boy to the owner ya lost, that makes you the loser.

I think Wilson is better but you did realize Wilson won biggest when Seattle had the best defense in the NFL right? Again, it’s almost like football is a team game or something?
So when the Rams beat the Chiefs 54-51, Pat Mahomes is a loser correct? Like he should have scored more right? Is Allen a “loser” because the Cardinals completed a Hail Mary pass?
people actually think like this? 🤔
Every member of a team that loses a game is indeed a loser for that game regardless of individual performance, ya lost the game you’re the loser, really very simple, ya just didn’t get a silver star for your forehead that day, folk need to get over this need that everyone is a winner even when they lose.

This is a meaningless move. Its really just a gesture by the Bills. There is no up front bonus money and therefore no cap effect now or in the future. Meaning they can cut him with no dead money hit in the future.
All it really does is lock in his salary figure for the next three years.
How is extending a valuable player meaningless?

Good move, hopefully SM won’t be afraid to use them when the inevitable injuries happen...

They should do away with compensatory picks altogether, teams should not be rewarded for poor cap management, or having a player leave after a contract is completed, to bad for them.
