Don't fool ourselves. One ring and we would sweep away all manner of bad behavior. The rumors of Kelly's marital infidelity and drinking are probably true. Bennett plead guilty to sexual assault. Pegula made much of his money from fracking that may be destroying our planet. Shady may have had his girlfriend beaten.
The Patriot way is horsedung. None of it happens without Brady. Culture means nothing without a franchise QB. Levy and Jauron tried to build around culture too. They didn't find a QB. And if Allen fails, then so will McD and Beane

I posted a bunch pre-draft about wanting to trade down and get Noah Fant assuming Allen, Oliver, and Hockenson would be gone. He was god awful last night. He was a clueless blocker and did nothing in the pass game. He looks like he has the perfect frame to be an elite pass catching TE but wow he really struggled in game 1.
The other player I wanted was TJ Hockenson as stated above. Wow he was amazing for Detroit.

They played zone most of the game. Crowder was catching 3 yard passes. There were two third down plays where I thought the defender was out of position at the snap. Way too much of a cushion on a 3rd and around 5 yards. Soft short zone is fine on first and second down but when it is third and intermediate distance they need to play a little tighter coverage. But to the Bills credit they made the tackles and limited the damage.

Buffalo will never be the most popular landing spot for players, which does in fact put the GM at a competitive disadvantage. This is why drafting well is SO important for this franchise. It's one of those things that we are all aware of, but some choose to irrationally contort themselves into believing there is no truth to it.
BUT....If we draft well and have an exciting QB, that could certainly change the dynamic. We've got to have a few more things going for us than most teams to become an attractive destination. The objective should be to make those things happen.
Some players care what city they play in. The vast majority just want the money. Lynch wanted out and he was a drafted player. Mario Williams, Takeo Spikes, and Morse were all considered top players at their position when they were signed.
Multiple ways to build a team but none of them work without finding a QB. The best way is to draft a star QB that is great from the outset and therefore cheap in relative terms leaving plenty of cap space to build a team. Not so easy to do but if Allen is the franchise QB there will be plenty of cap space in the next two years to build a championship team.

We sucked back then, so yeah I would have too.
No we actually didn't. We were stuck in mediocrity. They just signed TO the month before. Defense was solid. As the case has been the entire history of the franchise, the TE position was a nightmare.

Got it now. Sick. In general I side with the woman's story in most instances.

Morse was the responsible one on his fumble and hard to fault Allen on the other fumble when Dawkins whiffed on his block too.
Honestly, he had one bad turnover that was totally on him.
And the INT that was over turned, it looked more like Allen saw the flag and knew he had a free play, so hard to say if it was a bad decision or just taking a shot on what he knew was a free play anyway. QBs do this all the time
Agree on the fumble.
It's possible Allen saw the flag, and I'm not going to go back and review it. A bunch of people on the board have posted that the flag was thrown after the ball left his hand and others posted the opposite. I really don't know.
All I know is the pick six was on Beasley, the fumble on the first drive was on Allen (and Dawkins), and the defense dropped a terrible pass that should have been intercepted near the goal line.
Allen played better than he did last year. Completion percentage was way up. He looked really solid at times. We will know if he is the franchise answer by mid-season.

If you are going to not charge him with an INT that actually happened because it was a tipped pass, then you need to charge him for the INT that was his fault but called back for a penalty.

As I've said 100 times, Allen will make errant throws every game. So long as he offsets a bad int in a game with 2 or 3 td passes, who gives a *****?
I guess that’s the point. He threw two picks, had one called back
, and another dropped, all while throwing one TD pass. So nowhere near a two or three TD:INT ratio.
He made great throws during the game and I think got more unlucky than anything else. Pick six was on Beasley and Bills batted 5 balls but did not pick any.
Giants have worst DB in the league. Should be a good opportunity to have a clean game.

Lawson made a big impact for only playing 31% of snaps
Agree. Murphy payed well but not so amazing to have almost 3X the snaps Shaq got. Good problem to have.

I think you keep wanting to not believe Singletary can’t be good or that this move means we do t want to win.
If they didn’t have faith in Singletary, Shady would still be here.
Smaller, slower, and came from a non power 5 school. I guess I would ask why do you/ others have faith in Singletary? I feel like people just think he is going to be good because he is new. Maybe in practice he has looked great. He didn’t show anything special in preseason games to warrant faith that he and a 36 year old Gore can shoulder the load.

If we get 1,400 between both Gore and Singletary on the ground, I would be very happy.
I like Shady a lot so I’m not happy but I understand it. They see something very special in Singletary where they felt comfort with this move. They’ve seen a lot more of Singletary than we have.
Look I get it. In retrospect I would have never given the money to Shady nor draft a RB high. But what’s the point of cutting him now? The money has been spent. I want wins now.

You are thinking McCoy is going to our rush Singletary and Gore combined?
Not combined no. Once he is signed somewhere I can hazard a guess. But on any of the teams I mentioned, he rushes for over 700 yards with another 300 receiving.

The Bills are following the Patriots RB model, lots of different options/looks and no bell cow.
Makes sense. Oh except that model is a bit easier to deploy with the greatest QB of all time.

Which makes the importance of the RB greater or lesser?
Neither. No back would have succeeded behind that line last year . That’s the point.

Dallas, KC, Seattle, Pittsburgh or SanDiego. Even as a RB by committee on any of those teams and he out rushes Gore and Singletary.

You realize that he failed to outperform the QB on the ground last year right?
You understand that they replaced four of five starting offensive linemen?

After the trades and cuts we should have a pretty healthy cap number both this year and heading into next. Just from shady and Bodine we added more than $8 Mil.
Who ***** cares about the cap. How about some ***** wins.

Stupid move by Beane or McDermott to cut McCoy.
If he lands in the right spot, he will outproduce any back left on this roster.
-
Who should or should not be on the practice squad?
-
He would be a better backup MLB than anyone on our current roster

No kidding. Glad he didn’t let that stand in the way of making necessary upgrades. And it isn’t like his “misses” are out the league, either. One garnered interest from multiple teams and the other is now playing for the SB champs. Beane isn’t afraid to move on from his previous signings. That’s a good thing.
I agree. The overall talent of the OL on paper looks so much better than last year.
Id just hold off on the genius label until we actually see better results on the field.

Based on what? do we have a top 75 player on this roster? Bunch of average players at almost all the skilled positions
What does that tell you? caveman football does not win in this league.
You're right, everyone talks how great they are. Based on what? the roster is filled with medicore players up and down, no game changing players on this team.
Top 75. Yes. White. Hyde.
Top 150 Hughes, McCoy, Dawkins, Morse, Poyer
TBD Allen, Edmunds, Oliver, Wallace, Ford

Murphy was a bust and waste of money last year. Can't change that fact. But it's a new season and Murphy played well in the second half against the Jets. Lawson outplayed him and I'm still in the Lawson camp. The snaps should be closer to 50/50 not 2/3 1/3 like it was last week.
Add the fact I don't think Harrison Phillips is any good, I think there is an opportunity to get Lawson more reps dropping down to DT without taking too many reps away from Murphy.
