It’s hard to win on the road regardless. I still hate this logic. Playing scared because teams decades before you couldn’t win there makes no sense.

It’s the same reason teams don’t particularly like coming to Buffalo to play. It’s a loud disorienting place to play. The sight lines in the bowl can throw of depth perception, the wind is brutal, and the fans can be the loudest in the league.

Some places are hard to play in.

Wow, I guess I should have, but I never expected this to go there and I’m sorry it did.

    1) I don’t care where the coach was.  I don’t care what the kids said.  It’s unacceptable for an adult (the shooter was >21 at the time) to pull out a gun and shoot a kid in the back, no matter what the kids said

    2) @RobbRiddicksTDLeap, kudos to you for taking such a proactive and positive attitude to diffuse all situations with the kids in your charge, but it really doesn’t change 1), and tossing in language about ‘virtue signals’ and ADULT SUPERVISION (all caps) does not strengthen the argument, it just kind of makes it look like an underlying agenda.

    3) People get shot these days who are doing absolutely nothing wrong and nothing to escalate a situation.  So without knowing all the details of the situation you seem to be making a bunch of assumptions.

The story is that Foster, for whatever reason, underwent a very traumatic situation of having a good friend who was headed for a positive sports-related activity shot and turned the negative experience into positive motivation for himself.  That is commendable, period.

What he did was exactly virtue signaling. I don’t need to strengthen my argument, but i also won’t allow my words to be twisted into something they are not.

Trying to draw an inference between school shootings and what happened in this story, is a false equivalency. Yes, in both instances people were shot and killed. That’s where the similarities end.

I think between the 3 articles posted, we get a clear idea of what happened. A group of boys on a team trip went for something to eat. They got into an exchange with someone looking for trouble. Because there was no one there to guide them out of that trouble, a tragedy occurred. Does that about sum it up? If this would have just been a parking lot dust up and the worst thing that happened was a black eye and some hurt pride, it wouldn’t change the fact that there was no adult, no coach, present to be the voice of reason.

Again, the fact that any of this needs to be explained or defended, is beyond me.

And if the coach had been with them at the restaurant, there’s a very good chance Gamez doesn’t say anything to the boys, and or, the coach would have been able to diffuse the situation.

There is a time and place for children, especially teenage boys, to learn independence and freedom. On a team trip across country is not one of them.

Again, as a coach, the only time my boys would be out of my sight is lights out.

Ultimately, Gamez is responsible for the death of the young man, but an adult on the scene would have been able to do more to prevent it from escalating.

    Go Bills.

Did you question the adults integrity at the schools that get shot up too, you are not getting the point, but that’s okay, enjoy the game, and merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and yours.

Sorry Hapless, I’ll try harder to bypass this sort of thing in the future.

    Go Bills!!!

School shootings and a racist shooting a kid in the back are two entirely different situations. If you can’t see that, then we can’t have a rational conversation.

Not really the point now is it.... you come across as a bit self righteous, Ask yourself this, were were the adults every time there is a school shooting in this country?? Dwell on that RRTDL.

He and DW have been through some harsh times, I root for them all the more because of how they have come through it.

    Go Bills!!!

    Really?

As a coach, i can tell you that my boys are never far enough away from me, that i can’t be the adult in the room. If ANY of my boys do anything outside of the rules of the team, they understand that there are consequences. Arguing with ANYONE in public, is well within the scope of adult involvement.

If a grown man starts an argument with children, especially ones in my care, I immediately find a way to diffuse the situation. It’s happened on the field, and it’s happened at practice. There is no way in hell that I would ever allow a situation to get so out of hand, that it would come to violence, let alone gun violence. If I have my boys at a resteraunt, and a man says “get those (insert racial epithet of your choice) out of here”, IMMEDIATELY the boys get up and we leave. Safety first, ALWAYS.  If you can’t see that, that’s an even bigger issue to talk about some other time.

Im sorry for Robert Foster. I’m sorry for any child that has to deal with sudden and tragic death. As a man, and as a coach, I’m proud for him that he has found his way.

Typical of our time, you’re creating false equivalency to build up your argument, but also rally others behind you with some good old fashioned virtue signals. It’s a valid question to ask where the responsible adults were in this situation. To say that I’m being self righteous because i asked that question, is just plain sickening. It’s a clear indicator of where we headed as people, when the idea of ADULT SUPERVISION is called into question, and worse, self righteous.

The fact that someone liked your comment is also sad.

    Go Bills.

Do they really?  Jones looked good early on but the Giants have lost ten games in a row since winning their first 2 games under Jones who hasn't demonstrated much to separate him from other promising young QBs taken high in the draft, a few of whom succeeded but most of whom failed.

They don’t lose games because of Jones. They lose games because they don’t have a defense. Barkley has been more of a liability in the offense this year, than Jones. Admittedly, he’s running scared on his ankle.

If I’m Mara, i give them another year to build that line, bring in some actual CB’s, and see what happens.

  6. When people say that this team needs a “true #1 WR”, what we mean is; someone who can be counted on in all situations to catch the ball.

Currently, there is not one on this roster.

Today’s game is won on either of Knox’s drops (the one in the end zone particularly comes to mind). He’s a rookie, and is in a big pressure spot, it’s not excusable, but he’s shown enough to build on.

Beasley and Brown, there are no excuses for their drops. If it hits your hands, you need to catch it.

Hopefully Beane and company and continue to work their magic and find a WR with excellent hands to help make the difference on this team.

  7. I just watched this video.

Please, bring back Shaq Lawson on a sensible 3 year deal.

Everyone said he was a project player, lots of talent but needed to find a home. Sounds a lot like Jerry Hughes. He’s fiery but not a trouble maker, he has a high motor and has really developed into an above average defender. He’s excellent against the run, and has improved exponentially the past 3 seasons as a pass rusher.

And he’s a process guy. He’s bought in, and it’s paying off. I feel like signing him sends a message to the rest of the team, that FO office rewards you for your play and your part on the team.

I really love the player he’s developed into, and i love that he recognizes the value in being “built different”.

Yeah, I’m with you in a that I’m a 46 year old man who turns into a petulant teenager when I watch the Bills.

Football season between 1-4pm aren’t my brightest moments.

I try and not use bad language around my kids when we watch (6,5,3) but the word “stupid” and the “GD worst flipping play call ever in this teams stupid history” came out today.

i know i know, very tame, however, i wasn’t wrong. That deep fade on 3rd and 3 was the absolute worst. Like throwing when up late against the Cowboys.

    Same.

I do have close friends and relatives who are Jets fans that I have the utmost respect/love for. Regardless, I revel in their misery. Does that make me a bad?

You’re a better person than me. I rub it in their faces every chance i get.

Some friends are shocked at my delight in the anguish of Jest fans.

Tomorrow, I’ll be smiling from ear to ear.

  10. I’d say he’s being used perfectly.

For some reason, the Bills don’t have an intermediate passing game. As a compliment that usually opens up the underneath patterns, that Beasley is very good at. Those routes haven’t been productive this season so far, and i think that’s what so many people were hoping for. Beasley is great in short yardage situations, but he’s not an explosive player. He’s sure handed and runs great routes. Defenses aren’t  giving away the middle of the field for Beasley to exploit those holes. But, Daboll has seemingly found a place for Beasley in the red zone. That route he ran today was beautiful. Same as last weeks.

If they had another outside threat that could draw at least single coverage, this offense could really open up. Scheming around personnel deficiencies doesn’t make for an explosive offense. Until that’s fixed, the passing game will be middle of the road and frustrating.

  11. I can’t wait. I’ve already told my boss i need some private time from 10-10.20am tomorrow. I’ll be smiling all day.

One of life's great pleasures is listening to them after a Jets loss. Even better after a Jets loss to the Bills.

Originally, Benigno was a regular WFAN caller. His radio career started after he won a contest to guest host on the station.

I love Joe and Evan. I live on Long Island, and am surrounded by terrible Jest fans. Just awful people really. Tomorrow will be wonderful. After the Patriots demolished them, they were angry, but they had hope for Darnold. Not anymore.

    GLORIOUS!!!

Ego. Plain and simple. And not in a bad way either.

They’re the best ever, together. Without them together, the ENTIRE league changes. Who fills the void? Is there a void? All of it rests on Brady’s shoulders. He seems like the kind of guy who is always looking to improve. No better way than to make even more history.

  13. I had a similar thought.

This game reminded me of games past where the Bills would show some potential, and then second half adjustments by Belichick, would turn the game around.

I can see a tremendous amount of potential for this team, I’m not sure how they get to the next level. It sounds as if getting chewed out at halftime made a difference. Maybe this team needs an edge player. Someone who fits the process but has that crazy fueled fire inside of them, that gets everyone ready to fight on every series. It’s not to say that they aren’t motivated, but they need something extra.

  14. No team is designed to play down to its competitors level.

That being said, the issues on offense are attributable to a young QB learning how to find that delicate balance between making a play, and making a mistake.

Some better weapons wouldn’t be terrible either.

The defense is tremendous. And they play full speed for 4 quarters, which takes a huge amount of pressure off of Josh Allen. If Allen continues to produce and grow from week to week, so will his production.

  15. Great write up as always Shaw.

This defense is tremendous. They continue to dictate to the opposition what they can and can’t do. Bulk yards on 2 plays, that didn’t amount to anything. I agree with your confidence in the team. It’s foreign to me, and it doesn’t feel right, but it does feel good.

I have concerns about the offense in the 3rd quarter. I’m not sure what happens during half time, but week after week the offense comes out flat, and seemingly let’s the opposing team a chance to take control of the game.

But have no fear; The Defense is Here! I love this defense. I can’t stop saying it.

    Thanks again Shaw!
