  1. Winning cures a lot of things. There is good and bad execution in every game, but the bad things get magnified in losses. The team looked better prepared on Offense and the sloppiness, mistakes, and lack of production from that unit game after game was getting old for all of us. Justified or not, that is the reason Dorsey was shown the exit. I don't hate on Dorsey like some, as Allen credits him for a lot of the success he has had in past seasons. I do think that the jump from QB room to OC is a big one and for this franchise with a defense-minded HC an OC has to manage a lot more than the Xs and Os. Sometimes it takes a candidate a few times failing in those roles to figure out how to find success.
  2. "Not as much hero-ball as we are used to seeing." That was kind of a d### thing to say and not very professional. Even if he believes that about Allen, you don't say that #### at the podium. Doubt McD would say Wilson "Held the ball, turtled up, and took sacks like we are used to seeing".
  3. If the NFL was just about finding track stars it would be easy. What you want in your pass-catching TE is the size mismatch of course, but also great balance and body control, route running, ability to come in and out of their breaks smoothly, great catch radius with good hands, and the ability to read and exploit coverages. There are a lot of reasons to get excited about this kid - trying to tap the brakes myself, but he looks like the real thing.
  4. 40 times really don't correlate well to TE success in the NFL although Olsen and V. Davis had success and good straight line speed. Look at the weaknesses the NFL.com draft site had for that 40 yard slug Kelce: "Only one season of production Doesn't have blazing speed Not a tremendously explosive athlete Doesn't come out of his breaks all that well" Yeah, that guy is going to suck playing TE.
  5. Dunno... that drive only survived because the refs gifted NY a fresh set of downs with a phantom DPI on Douglas, and then the 15 yarder called on Oliver planting Wilson, and the dump pass to their RB after we lost Taron and were moving guys around. Not too down on the defense for that series. Other times this year - yes, I have been baffled by the calls.
  6. He had one of his better games and seemed to be in the right spots in zone when covering the flat. Had some good solid downhill stops too in the run game.
  7. A lot of tackle wrap that we have been doing well all season. Works especially well vs 4-man fronts as Brown can block down on their 1T with Torrence and then Dawkins pulls around to blow up their edge defender. It is just that this game they continued to go back to it and the Jets did not have a lot of answers other than getting chippy after getting rolled for yards. Been looking for more toss-sweeps, swing, and wheel passes and Brady mixed more of those in too which caught their LBs out of position a few times It is just one game for Brady, you can't get too high or too low. That being said, this is a much more talented offense than the one he had in NC, we will see what he is able to get out of them.
  8. Just feel a sense of relief. They did not beat themselves and the defense got some turnovers - been a while since we were on the right side of the turnover differential. No secret sauce - just don't beat ourselves and Brady leaned into the plays that had decent chances to work and kept the running game going all game long... had me worried with that first series, but he adjusted. The offensive players looked like they had some life in their eyes... just saying. Good game.
  9. When teams played us with more man and single high safeties, Davis had a lot more success getting open deep. With how much 2-high and quarters teams play against us he really does not get separation deep. More of our open spots for Allen are going to be in areas underneath in the soft spots in in the zones or in the flat where Davis just struggles to get any separation. I feel like Davis is maybe our 3rd WR when Knox gets back with Shakir and Kincaid needing more targets.
  10. We have had some suck ref crews this year. That unbelievably weak PI call that kept the only Jets scoring drive alive, and just incompetence and one zebra huddle after the next dragging this game out. Was shocked they finally called Sauce for how much hugging and grabbing he does out there.
  11. Thank you Green Bay! Unbelievable that they let Douglas go.... this kid is a baller.
  12. Harty should never be the first read.... IMO
  13. Thank you Oliver for proving me wrong and wrapping Wilson up.
  14. So Davis or Shakir? Who do you want to see on the field more getting opportunities - thank you Brady. Shakir just has more juice and ability to get open underneath against those 2-deep looks we see so often.
  15. Ed of the "T-Rex" arms gets Wilson on the ground. I love Ed's motor and I know he is disruptive, but I see him so close so often and rarely seems to be able to wrap up.
  16. Bass has been sucking this year with uncharacteristic misses and needs someone to get in his ear. Why is it that a soon as the Bills extend contracts on some players their play trends in the other direction?
  17. The Jets have made some adjustments to some of our inside runs.... That means they are giving up something else on the outside and they just did that to Quincy
  18. We saw first hand how a pick deep in your own zone can turn into points even against a good Jets defense when Zach threw his. If our Offense keeps taking care of the rock we should come out of this with the "W"
  19. Truth. Saw Rapp moving a bit when they were loading him up so hoping it is precautionary and he is OK.
  20. Took a fake punt and a huge penalty on Oliver to get the Jets in the red zone. Concerned with the injuries in the secondary - particularly Taron.
  21. That is why you don't just look at picks, you look at the situations. This season I have been more concerned with his decisions than numbers. Turn downs of open receivers and decisions throwing into well covered areas, or locking onto receivers like Harty who has done nothing to earn his reps and checks and not progressing to another option. Allen launching it on 3rd and forever flipping the field like a punt, or a hail Mary at the end of the half - meh.
  22. They were able to get Breece free underneath with Taron out... Could have been a factor as he tends to sniff out those dumps and inside slants.
  23. Truth - and you run the risk of hurting yourself with your head position and your own players because you are not tackling with any vision - just launching yourself. Something you coach at the pop warner level. Still, hope the dude is OK.
  24. We are leading, in control of this game, and not turning the ball over and you have fans complaining about "style points" That DB pickup from GB is looking good and we will be in good shape when some more of our DBs get healthy.
