Final Vote—All States, Progress in counting
WideNine replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yeah..... about that. Having my sister-in-law with a penthouse place overlooking the twin cities I can tell you that it is a lot of nothing. And, exactly how did you align that with the left, from my own resources having lived in MN they find the riots there to be odd and sporadic and not organized... I could just as easily say they are right-wing agitators and have just as much proof. Boarding up stores may have just as much to do with AR-toting right-wing nuts... correct? Folks just want their property not to get damaged either way - and Trump projects calm right? The same way the Portland "riots" are 2 blocks of nothing - right-wing yahoos, left-wing nuts, boogaloo boys, and DHS goons each night doing what they do. Been there, eaten downtown, picked up a friend who flew in, visited the "riots" and picked up a dog from a vendor, and then left before the nightly show around the federal buildings. -

I am not worried. It is likely going to end up being like evicting those weird people you were foolish enough to rent a place to. And we have to contend with his people... can't wait for some of these guys to crawl back under their bridges and rocks. Biden supporters on a corner down the street from me calm, respectful, and normal. Then a bunch of beater trucks held together with Trump stickers come driving by with guys swearing and yelling, you know - the idiots that lend all that credibility to his base. -

Not too hard, just wait till he leaves for a weekend of golf in Mara Largo and quick change the locks to the White House. -

Yeah... not sure, but my wife told me that MSNBC and some other networks just unplugged him. Just wow. How embarrassing... and his whole family Don Jr., Ivanka, Jered, Eric are going nuts on Twitter. Almost as if once they are no longer shielded by his office the whole clan that make up Trump Org are going to be staring at one heck of a criminal investigation from the Manhattan DA. -

Pass.... I am not expecting any gracious comments now, and no concession from Don even after every scribble is counted and he sues every state that did not side with him. They are going to have to drag him out of the White House kicking and screaming. Been an embarrassment his whole tenure, why even try to salvage a shred of dignity now. -
If Trump loses and refuses to leave
WideNine replied to Kemp's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Not a huge issue at all...in fact in years of looking for reasons to justify adding more hoops and restrictions to our voting process, actual voting fraud is a GOP unicorn. -
Most politicians and other wealthy citizens have portfolios and they can live quite well off of capital gains. That tax tops out at 20% for long-term holdings 23% I think for short-term, regardless of how many zeros are attached to your capital gains income. The rest of the working stiffs on the tread mill have income tax which tops out at 37%. This is why Warren Buffet said that %-wise his admin was paying more in taxes than he was and proposed the Buffet rule forcing a minimum 30% on anyone earning over 1,000,000 dollars. If you are going to game the current system, it is wise to shift from income gained through honest labor and move to portfolios of investments. Or claim you are losing tons of money on your real estate holdings to offset your gains.

Waaay overblown with a few doctored videos to help push the narrative. If your father has dementia I am sorry to hear that, but many dementia sufferers have angry outbursts and Trump fits the bill on that check list too. Yeah, Trump has not lost a single neuron.......

Do you? Trump certainly does not understand how it works other than hitting his lawyers speed-dial for every state that slides towards Biden. For every election the voting stops and then the counting continues till all the votes are counted. Maybe if they used small words and picture books they could help the self-proclaimed genius understand this very simple concept. Even then, there are steps on the way to ratifying the Electoral College votes. Calling the counting of every citizen's vote fraud is what authoritarian regimes do when their dictators lose the vote. Not that I actually expected any kind of grace from that orange buffoon. You want real fraud, look to the GOP-led effort to knee-cap the USPS and how the GOP puppets in charge of the USPS disregarded court orders to ensure mail-in ballots were processed in key battle-ground states where coincidentally mail processing and delivery dropped during this election. Nothing is final yet, either way. If Trump wins the vote or if Biden wins, I expect there will be some lawsuits, but I expect they will not move the needle much on votes that were not tallied. If Biden wins, there is going to be a reckoning regarding the USPS board of governors and DeJoy.

I always wanted us to quick snap or direct snap to our RB and just plow over those standing bodies in that NE amoeba defense... I think we did try to quick-snap it once and just ended up shooting ourselves in our foot with a false start. Maybe Daboll was thinking the same thing.

Yes I noted that and I was looking at total yards yielded vs PG. How did you normalize for games played?
-
football db and nfl.com, BUT you are right there are a lot of teams that have only played 7 games this year so that definitely would skew those total yards. So just looking at the 14 teams that have played 8 games they are a combined 51/59/2 wins/losses/ties. KC, the Bills, and Tampa skew these wins as having really good records... the majority of these teams have poor records only 6 of them with winning records - one is sitting at 500. In just that pool of 14 teams we are: 11th for total rushing yards given up. 6th for total passing yards given up. This is mirrored in the yards/game as well. Not sure what that tells us overall it is pretty hard without teams having played the same number of games which is usually the outlier with a few bye-weeks, but will need some sort of correction by the league at some point. I would not mind the Bills and the 14 teams on that list getting some kind of bye-week.
-
KC is the media darling right now, but I don't think the Bills v Hawks is that underrepresented. Look at Washington/Giants, although they do have the large cities covered. At least we won Fairbanks, Anchorage, and Honolulu

Not sure if there is any aspect of the game that our defense is arguably "good" at... we have been poor at rush defense and average at pass defense. We give up just a few less yards per game than NE and folks saw how we were able to gash them. It has been a huge drop for us this year - the kind that will keep a GM like Beane up at night analyzing what he could have done better and what needs to change. Probably the two biggest stats the Bills should be able to correct is missed tackles and penalties. We have a lot of them, week after week we see poor fundamentals shedding blocks, high arm tackles, overrunning plays, and straight-up guys just missing tackles that piss away the good play that happens in fits and spurts, leading to long gainers and/or 3rd down conversions. We are also near the top of the league in penalties and yards assessed via penalties at 53 penalties for 501 yards. If your defense is equally poor executing consistently against the pass or the run then you get the kind of games we have seen year. Nail-biting games that come down to the wire every week, where any turnovers or mistakes by the offense is magnified because their times up at bat are limited by the long drives given up by the defense. There is little margin for error. Because the games are so tight and our defense gets gashed in the 2nd half of games, we really need our offense to clean up its red-zone scoring and capitalize on every chance we get down there.

That would be great if it holds on Sunday, would be nice to have enough of a lead or cushion before we go into our somewhat predictable 2020 2nd half defensive collapse and/or offensive stall. Outside of the Titans game where they pretty much scored at will (I am not sure if they punted once) McD and Frazier seem to usually have an effective strategy for the 1st half of games, but they usually are not able to counter halftime adjustments. It could be that we just do not have the game-day level of coaching that is needed to make the right changes in real time, or it could be that it takes an enormous amount of coaching-up and strategic planning of the guys we are fielding now just to be competitive in that 1st half of games and we lack the quality of flexible and effective starters to counter the adjustments other teams make with an ad hoc counter strategy. Probably a bit of both, but contrary to some opinions on TBD, I think that Sean has become a better game-day coach than he was his first season here. He was pretty emotional on the sideline that first year and took some wild low-percentage swings at the plate with situational coaching and challenges, but I think his self-scouting and game management has improved. It does not hurt that he seems to embrace surrounding himself with capable people that he is willing to listen to. I remain optimistic and any given Sunday a team can win, but this whole season has left me skeptical of how far this team can go. I don't doubt our player's heart and they have not shown any quit on this coaching staff, but as Yoda would say, "a complete team, they are not".

I am sure there are individual outliers that get aggregated into the mix, but some teams handle coast-to-coast travel better than others. Carroll has been around a long time, I am sure he has a set routine for his team traveling. I don't think jet-lag is anything McD is going to count on. Going to be a tough game and Wilson is playing at a very high level with a ton of confidence. Against Cam McD did not have any real respect for his passing ability. I say that because we consistently cheated a lot of bodies up to the line and loaded the box. Having all those guys play close to the LOS disguised a lot of the ugly this team has had getting push, creating pressure, and filling gaps against the run. We will not have that luxury against Wilson. This is going to be a very tough game for our defense and we will need our offense to grind out some long possessions, and our Special Teams to tilt the field to have a shot at knocking these guys off.

Yeah, just hit me and was going back to delete it... dumb stat to follow with the last 4 teams dropping most all the defensive players into coverage and daring us to run the ball, or only allowing passes underneath. You take what the defenses give you.
-
any other year, perhaps any other team and that failed reach block by the outside receiver 80 is an obvious hold. Happened outside, in space, with a clear unobstructed view for the refs. Those are usually the holds in years past that were called - particularly against TE's every time you had a outside sweep play that went for a good chunk of yards. The reach block is hard to execute as the blocker cannot line up with too much outside leverage as that would both give the play away and the defender would likely adjust position wider to mirror making turning the edge more difficult. As soon as the ball is snapped that edge blocker has to get outside position leverage because if he is inside his only option is dragging on the defenders arms and jersey to keep him from sealing the edge which for as long as I have watched the game was a hold for the Bills (see Lee Smith past holds for some examples). The Bills could explore this officiating change of heart and see if they get the same leeway - but I sincerely doubt it. NE was doing some neat things with that RPO toss/crack play that Chris Simms eluded to in the 2nd half where two receivers lined up on one side and one down blocks the slot defender and pulling blockers open a gap for the run either by the second WR, or that WR (Burkhead) would lead block for Cam. With the way we were crashing and attacking the inside gaps to stuff the run, it was really effective at attacking the edges of our defense. I think the Bills did run a similar play a few games ago with our receiver coming in to block the slot defender and he decleated the guy so badly that I think it drew a flag. That is a common thing with that play as your slot defender db/safety/big nickel is usually focused on the ball carrier and does not see the block coming from the side. Used to be worse when that block was often thrown low (illegal crack back). Either way, a play that the Bills should explore more with the way teams try to play our run to force them to commit to defending the edges too. Allen could easily execute these, but I would want him to keep both hands on the ball, or he would pull a Newton and cough it up in traffic or getting tackled.
-
This. A lot of spectators and tourist for much of the second half. Some of that was Frazier not finding a solution to that bubble rpo they were executing off the edge. But it does seem that when this defense, as a whole, swarm to the ball and gang tackle they click. When they take turns executing flying arm tackles up high on players you see the long gainers gash our front. If we are honest, Klein may be the guy we are hating on but may also be the only defender diagnosing plays and weaving through traffic to get near enough to try to make a stop. So we notice him more. Probably a bit of both. Either way of looking at that is not very encouraging.

GOP Destroying itself on the altar of Trump
WideNine replied to WideNine's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Looks like more than one Blackbird song, but played this one a lot when pancreatic cancer slowly took my mom. Not to be a downer, but an awesome, bittersweet song Blackbird - Alter Bridge The willow, it weeps today A breeze from the distance is calling your name. Unfurl your black wings and wait. Across the horizon, it's coming to sweep you away. It's coming to sweep you away [Chorus] Let the wind carry you home Blackbird, fly away May you never be broken again The fragile can not endure They're wrecked and jaded, the place so impure. The static of this cruel world Cause some birds to fly long before they've seen their day. Long before they've seen their day [Chorus] Let the wind carry you home Blackbird, fly away May you never be broken again Beyond the suffering you've known I hope you find your way May you never be broken again [Bridge] Ascend, may you find no resistance And know that you made such a difference. And all you leave behind Will live till the end. The cycle of suffering goes on But the memories of you stay strong Some day I too will fly and find you again [Chorus] Let the wind carry you home Blackbird, fly away May you never be broken again Beyond the suffering you've known I hope you find your way May you never be broken again May you never be broken again -
I really hope Mitch Morse retires.
WideNine replied to SageAgainstTheMachine's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. It was a known risk bringing him in, and I have been saying that we need to emphasize targeting our next center, because concussions happen more easily and frequently after you have had one or two. The protocols are better, but after 4 or 5 "known" concussions it would probably be best for Morse to hang up the cleats. I say this because I actually care about the player, and not because he is a liability on the field; His play all season has been solid. Just seems like a dude you would like to see be able to have a healthy life after the game.
