Washington can keep him and let him walk next year and get a 3rd round compensatory pick in 25 I believe.  So I imagine he takes more than a 3.

The Bills could get creative and make some kind  of large move though, Elam a 2 and a 2025 4 for Fuller and Sweat.....or something like that.  Washington gets a replacement for fuller leaving and high compensation for guys they are not going to resign.

    This will never happen however.

I don't think Washington needs any CB'S. They just drafted 2 this year and have St-Juste.🤔

If Leonard Williams on a half year rental is worth a 2nd rounder, Washington would rightly want at least a 1st rounder for Allen. Carroll probably destroyed any chance of deals getting done today by drastically over-paying for Williams.

I honestly wouldn't expect Allen to even be on our list of possibilities.  But if I was going to give up any day 1/2 picks to Washington, Allen would make me happy. 😁

Its bad business to ever trade a first.  If it is not for quarterback or a once a generation type player (aaron Donald ish) imo you should never ever do it.

I feel like the market has been set for above average defensive players with expiring contracts with Williams.  So that would mean a 2024 2nd and a 2025 5th.  The bills have two 3rds so moving the second though hard to swallow would be justifiable in this case.

The bigger question is do you want to give a player a big time deal that you do not even know?  That can upset the locker room.  An outsider coming in and getting big money.  The fact that he is a corner is another iffy thing to me.  Guys that far away from the ball, you have to think twice about paying them these huge deals.  You can always justify it for a player that plays on the line of scrimmage or a quarterback.  Its just hard to do for a corner imo.  Even the great ones are up and down.

Matt Eberflus Bears defense asks the corners to jam at the line of scrimmage.  He has a varied background having come up with Rob Ryan and then Rod marinelli.  So jamming at the line of scrimmage and forcing guys inside is priority one.  Johnson fits that mold with long arms and he is strong.  I imagine he would fit right in with this defense.

Having heard that SF is involved that makes me think this may get pushed to a first round pick.  They are going for it 100% right now (Buffalo is to right?) and they seem to overpay if they want something and are not afraid to bring guys in and worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.

Having said all that, this team needs help up front IMO, but there is no one who is going to trade the big guys inside at this point so getting a corner who can play the upper level wr and slow them down is the next best thing.  A 2nd round pick wouldn't break the back of the Bills but it will be tough to swallow on Draft day when there are needs.

I still don't think Johnson is the answer and still think it's too much to give up.

You want to see something kind of funny. Elams comparison is Jaylon Johnson!! 🤣🤣

This may be one of those rare moments where Beane is willing to trade a 1st round pick.  With White injured again, Jackson a FA after the season, and Elam not panning out, the CB room is rather shaky right now.  I like Benford but he's had some injuries too.  If they get Johnson, it immediately shores up the position.

It would, but I am leary of giving up a 1st when we are going to need some O talent next year. I think I'd rather give a 4th or 5th to GB for Rosul Douglas or to Washington for Kendall Fuller. Douglas has another year on his contract and Fuller has also played safety, so he could be re-signed if wanted/needed next season. May not be the quality of Johnson, but would still improve what we currently have without using a high DP.

Guessing this is similar to the Beasley and brown signings last season, vet to the practice squad insurance

If he shows well will be signed to the active roster in season after getting the max call ups

Kind of just want him for the playoffs

He may not be a King Henry, but I think he is still someone the D will have to pay attention to.

If the rumors of Suh are legit, then it leads me to believe (hope) that Beane is targeting CB or LB via trade. He is dealing with limited resources so as much as we would all love for him to make big splash trades to fill the holes left by injury, it's just not feasible. My hope is that he has identified his target, and is attempting to plug/patch some of the other holes with cheap vet signings so he can commit what resources he does have to land his preferred target.

The thing is, if we are looking at Suh and is any better than what we currently have (🙏) or is even  close to what DJ was, then the LB issue isn't so bad.

This is a pretty big trade. The Seahawks are going all in and doing it around D. They are currently the #2 seed in the NFC, although they have a very tough schedule: SF twice, Philly, at Dallas, and at the Ravens.

If this is all in, what would we call a 2nd and Elam(1st) for Johnson be called?🤔

It has been explained on here before (Hoofhearted for example) but the Shotgun runs that many are yelling at the wind about is a big part of our successful read-option (RPO) game. Sure, it hasn't always worked, especially on the goal line, but overall it HAS worked. The shortsighted takes over and over and over without learning anything about the game are so muich fun to read through though!

IMO, it only works if Josh was actually running more.

If he does get moved, I only want a player for player deal, no draft picks. Take a disappointing pick off of another team and hope he’s our second chapter of Jerry Hughes vs Kelvin Sheppard. DT Mazi Smith, CB Emmanuel Forbes, LB Devin Lloyd, etc.

I'm all for a PFP swap with Elam and Mazi. They need CB help and we need DT help. Doubt it would come to fruition though.

Yea but most of us spend enough time on here(have been here long enough) to usually know where a specific user is going with their comments based on past comments/interactions with them.  Doesn't mean it makes sense but at least know where they stand regarding a certain player, coach, team, etc.

Definitely true. Sometimes you can just look at the thread topic, who replied and you don't even have to read them sometimes. 😉

PS. This wasn't directed at you.

The more you listen to sports radio, the more you realize that if you are of above average intelligence, it will be exceedingly hard to think like the majority of callers who call in and try to make sense of their "logic" since it makes no sense other than to people like them...which unfortunately, are a lot of the American population these days.

Sometimes I listen to people calling in and I just can't even get myself to a spot where any of what they said makes any sense whatsoever...but the problem is, trying to explain to them why would leave them with glassed over eyes and not understanding what you are saying anyway, so the best thing is not to even bother correcting them and just move on 😂

Oh, so kinda like here sometimes?🤣

  12. I'm going with some reverse psychology here.

I don't see them bringing in a LB. We haven't used Williams to any extent yet and after Thursday,  I can see a bit more Dime being used and Klein being used more against the run when needed.

I don't  see a WR as we barely use the ones we have. After Thursday,  I see more 11 being played and Dalton picking up a majority of the targets. Add Shakir, Harty (cough) and potentially Isabella as a speedy wr, I can see them staying put.

I don't see a trade for a CB as we just signed Norman and Elam still hasn't been used properly yet.

I don't see a DT1 being brought in as we have Ford, Ankou and can still use Phillips.

There, with all that being said, we will make a trade for all 4 positions. 🤣

We can only hope.  Issues are however still there.  Up tempo, but still only 24 points.

What however has you feeling positive about the defense?

Would have been a few more points if not for a couple of stupid play calls.

Mini bye I think was really needed for the D and a little more time to plan.
