The Jets being so comfortable at #3 even in the face of two QBs already being gone. I still can't figure that out. Why are they so comfortable?
At this point, it could be just one QB or two. Jets must have a plan for both.

I think the Giants want Barkley, Barkley, Barkley. THAT is why they wouldn't move from #2 to #6, because Barkley would never make it past the Browns #4.
But if Buffalo can get to #4 by loading up the Browns draft vault with additional picks, then perhaps they can get to #2 with the Giants. So it would look like...
1.) Browns - Darnold
2.) Bills - QB
3.) Jets - QB
4.) Giants - Barkley.
And the Browns would then leave the 1st Round with Sam Darnold, and Picks #12, #22.
All depends on how the Browns value the big 4 QBs versus Barkley. If they're not set on Darnold and take Barkely #1, they might still get Darnold at #4 if the Giants turn to Rosen and Allen is as coveted by the Jets as we hear.

Thats because he was trying difficult throws. Not every time, but way more often than Oklahoma or Oklahoma State.
every so often he would spray an EJ type of throw, but not all the time.
Coach Bohl has been great at finding late bloomer QBs and giving them a chance but pretty bad at developing them. both Wentz and Allen spent their time in college with raw footwork, and Wentz finally saw good improvement at his footwork and accuracy this year with a year of good NFL coaching.
Allen will need to continue showing improved footwork, and he did at the combine. If he can become consistent, you are going to see an amazing jump in his accuracy.
Truth ... and the main thing for me is I want a guy that wants to play here, embraces the city and it's blue collar attitude, and is a gamer. If Rosen doesn't want to play here, why the h*ll would we bother ? I personally think Allen will be gone by the 5th and the Giants will pick Rosen. JMO ...

Not sure why the completion percentages have gone up, except for relaxing the passing rules. But they have gone up.
And sure you'll have outliers here and there. But taking Allen that high and hoping (praying) he'll buck the trend is a recipe for disaster.
I can name one of each. One.
I don't know about that ... give him a couple years, put him in a pro offense with NFL athletes and we'll see. Someone will take him near the top. For every guy that had a completion % below 60, there is someone who was above 60 in college and failed in the pros. Lots of other factors involved.

Completion percentages have gone up markedly since the days of Marino and even Favre. It means a lot, actually.
Can you name a QB within the past decade who had a sub-60% completion percentage in college and was a successful NFL QB?
Why have completion % gone up ? Shorter pass routes ?
Sure Matt Ryan was 59.3 his senior year and just below 60 in total. Russell Wilson was way below 60 at NC State and above 70 @ Wisconsin. Did Wilson all of a sudden learn how to be more accurate or did he have better receivers and an offense more suited to his style ? How about Matthew Stafford ?
E.J. was about 66% at FSU - how did that work out ? You have to look at a lot more that just the % number.
If teams used your 60% number, no one would be looking at Lamar Jackson either.

He's not. He threw for 56% in college.
So did Dan Marino - means nothing. Favre was worse.

Exactly. His best throws are so much better than anyone else's best throws. They are jaw dropping. Obviously not consistent enough, and maybe he never well be. But I can see why people can get enamored of his potential. If the Bills ended up with him, I'd hold my breath and pray, but he surely would be interesting for a while.
I want a Jim Kelly/John Elway/Roethlisberger mold franchise QB - tough, doesn't mind playing in sh*t weather, and a gamer. I don't discount Allen as I think he's the closest to Kelly/Elway/Roethlisberger with a few more years of development. Blue collar town - I want a blue collar QB.

I agree completely. Do what has to be done. I don't want the Jets to get a franchise QB and see the Bills left out in the cold.
I bet it will take us trading up into the top 5 and then trading again to #2. That's going to take a whole lot.
Before I did anything, I'd make sure with 100% certainty that Rosen would even wanna play for the Bills and not pull a 2004 Eli move.

I don’t get the draft experts here at Two Bills drive. Nearly everyone is projecting that the Giants are taking at #2. Funny because everything I’ve read says the opposite. The consensus from the media is that Gettleman doesn’t want to draft a QB. He thinks the Giants can win now and will be looking to find players who can contribute immediately. That’s why you see them linked to Nelson or Barkley or Chubb. These guys are day 1 starters who probably can play at a high level right off the bat.
Sure there’s still a chance they can draft a QB at #2 but it’s far from certain as many of you make it sound.
I'm no expert, but it depends on what the Giants think of the following choices :
- Davis Webb replacing Eli
- Eli's physical health and can he still win
- The 2019 QB class and can they wait to draft a QB next year
- The potential QB UFAs after next season
- Drafting Rosen and groom him for a year or two
-
#1 Darnold / #2 Rosen / #3 Mayfield / #5 Allen

In terms of getting one the first 3 QBs off the board? Yes.
If we decide not to move up or can't, is he worth pursuing and giving us a better chance to win now ?

Would a Foles deal be a better option at this point ? Or did the McCarron signing negate that possibility ?

Exactly. With next year's draft class weak at QB, three was our only chance to get in the top four. I see the Browns taking Barkley at one since they would be guaranteed a QB at four. This sucks.
Sucks is right ... all depends how the Browns feel about the 4 QBs. IMO, if they want Darnold, they'll take him @ 1. If not, Barkely @ 1 and possibly Baker Manziel @ #4.

I don't see them taking a QB...
Why wouldn't they and let the new guy learn from Eli for a couple ? I would think they value Rosen more than Davis Webb.

we have $100 million next year, you can buy everything but a QB....this is the way we have built our rosters since JP...it's a terrible idea. Let's keep doing the same thing over and over again
Gotta have a trade partner and I don't think the Giants are going to deal away Rosen.

Any chance that the Broncos trade up to get Mayfield or Allen?
IMO, they won't have to - he'll be out there @ #5

Meh. I am starting to think McCarron may be their guy. No way they can get to two without both firsts this year, a second this year, and next year's first. If McCarron was a franchise guy, someone would have tried him away from Cincinnati. Same mistake Rex made with Taylor.
Agreed ... that's potentially 4 starters for a "franchise QB". I'd forget about moving up and fill the holes on the roster starting with #12. And I just can't see the Giants parting with #2 given Manning's age.
-
I see it a little differently ...
1 Cle-Darnold
2 Giants-Rosen
3 Jets-Mayfield
4 Cle-Barkley
5 Den-Allen
And I see Miami taking Jackson @ 11, so the Bills would have to jump them. More likely the BIlls take a positional player @ 12 and possibly Rudolph @ 22.

I agree, but we can’t choose guys based on who wants to be here imo. We’d be picking from
the bottom of the barrel regularly. They’ll all be fine with it once they arrive. Kelly didn’t want to come here in the beginning either.
The Giants need a QB as well as Eli is 37 and in "decline" as some say. Assuming Rosen sits for a year or maybe even 2 would be a perfect transition as well.
Rosen telling the Giants he would love to play for them might influence their decision to trade down with the Bills.

Because QB is the most important position in sports, and some of us believe that Darnold, Mayfield, and Rosen are leaps and bounds above Jackson and Allen. Anything less gives us Losman, Manuel flashbacks.
This is true, but I want someone who wants to play here. Rosen is giving shoutouts to the Giants, not the Bills. Mayfield is a big city Jets type personality (Broadway Baker) and Darnold has already stated he would love to lead the Browns. That leaves Allen and I see him with the Broncos backing up Case for a few years.
-
Why would the Bills move up to #2 to take a guy that would rather be somewhere else ? Take Jackson at #12 and use the other picks to fill holes.
-
No mistake at all ... Jets will get Mayfield @ #3. Darnold to CLE, Rosen to NYG and then Mayfield. Allen to the Broncos @ 5 and the Bills will take Jackson.
Rosen wants to go to the Giants.
What do you think Denver is going to do?

I disagree - Keenum is on a 2-year deal and taking Allen/Mayfield would give them enough time to get ready for year 3.
