I am curious to know whether anyone on the Bills coaching staff told Josh at the two-minute warning to focus on getting another first down BEFORE trying in the end zone.  One more first down would have enabled the Bills to run down the clock (KC only had 2 timeouts left) before having to try the FG.  I think Josh should have been looking FIRST at the underneath routes on that play where Diggs was open rather than the end zone.  I'm always amazed at how often coaching staffs seem oblivious to clock management.

Wrong thread...but this continues to bother me. If we are trying to score (the 2nd down play call undoubtedly shows we wanted to score) with around 2 mins then why run the clock all the way down like they did? All that did was leave only enough time for KC to win the game. We would have been better off moving quicker so that there is possibly enough time for us to have another drive as well.

You mean the team we beat at their place a few weeks back, where “big brother” had a meltdown and cried to mommy (the refs, the media, Josh in the post-game handshake) because things didn’t go his way?

I was talking about the playoff game. Unfortunately you can carry over what happened during the regular season.

I thought Brady did a good job outside of two drives in a row in the 3rd quarter.

Chiefs were begging the bills to throw but we stubbornly kept running it which resulted in back to back 2nd and longs. Which led to back to back 3 and outs.

Sometimes that's the difference when the margins are so small

Those two drives proved to be the ballgame.

This is why I’m amazing how many fans want Brady back. His offense did score some points, but it looked like a college offense built around a team with no talent.

Feel like we set the bar way too low around here sometimes.

No he didn’t… the Chiefs defense made some stops and adjustments… the Bills defense was like a knife through butter in another playoff loss. Rinse repeat.

Exactly - Mahomes barely broke a sweat last night. The Chiefs essentially scored on every drove but one. They had 5 total 3rd downs all game. The longest drive was only 10 plays long yet they had 4 drives over 60 yards. They could do whatever they wanted to this D.

  6. We are running a high school offense right now. Your QB is the best athlete so keep the ball in his hands with a ton of runs and short throws like you have no real wr's. I know McD likes this style but I dont think its sustainable. Every drive takes max effort and will wear your team down as the season goes. We need a combo of the short game with the big plays. That is the NFL. Go watch DET, BAL, SF, etc and they do both.

This is a question I've asked myself even before yesterday's loss.

Does Beane keep the older guys (and bad contracts) and tweak around the best he can?  Would he think that's enough to get the team

over the hump or does he make the move in 2024 to get younger and put an offense around Josh.

I'm not going to get into the weeds about exact numbers (my mind is numb from yesterday) but I think most of you guys (and gals) know what I mean.

Move on right now from guys like Von and Diggs (post June cuts) along with White, Morse, Dawkins, Poyer, Harty, Hines, Martin and who knows who else.

Other players have to be approached about their contracts too.  Knox, Neal, Bass

    In essence, a big re-tool.

Would Josh have to buy into a plan like this?  Would McDermott?

If a new HC comes in, it will happen anyway.

You might sacrifice the 2024 season, but you structure yourself for the future Bills built around Josh Allen.

As a fan, I would go along with it if that would be decided.

There are going to be some big questions/decisions for Beane this spring, one way or another!

There is no tank for a year to rebuild in 2025. I dont think that is possible. You have to make some difficult decisions this year to get better for next year.

Likely moves: White cut, Morse cut, Poyer cut, Harty cut, Hines cut. Some could be restrux or resigned to cheaper deals. These alone are $30M and not hard players to replace.

Restrux: Allen, Diggs, Miller alone give you $40M.

So just the moves above are $70M in savings. If you need more you can restrux guys like Knox, McG, Milano and some others to get another $10M+.

That gives you enough to draft a wr, sign a wr, and add some players to the D.

    QB Allen

RB Cook, cheap rb's are always available

WR Diggs, Shakir, Free agent, draft pick, draft pick, shorter, other free agents

    TE Kincaid, Knox, cheap TE

OL Free agent C or Bates, McG, Torrence, Dawkins, Brown or free agent RT

DT Oliver, Jones, Free Agents/Draft Picks

DE Rousseau, Miller, Free Agents/Draft Picks (AJE, Floyd, Phillips, Lawson?)

LB Bernard, Milano, Spector, Williams, Free Agents/Draft Picks

DB Douglas, Johnson, Benford, Elam, Draft/Picks Free Agents

I don't think they were going for it until they realized KC had 10 men on the field.  I could be wrong, but that's what I understood.

I think they already confirmed the play was called before they knew KC only had 10 on the field. That was the call from the start. Very aggressive call. Giving it to Damar makes it a stupid call. You at least give it to someone like Ty Johnson, Harty or even Isabella.

Least enjoyable Bills season of my lifetime.

Simply because there is nothing sadder to watch than wasted talent.

This team lost 5 games to teams that didn't make the playoffs.

It's why they were forced to win 9 de facto and actual playoff games........while having left their best football behind in late September........and taking on casualties from the overexposure and wear and tear at the end as a result of careless play in the first 3 months of the season.

It was a "team" effort for disappointment.    It was contagious as well.   With the exception of a few young players who consistently performed to expectation or above in Bernard, Shakir and Kincaid, everyone seemed to do their part.

Appropriately,  they didn't earn many individual accolades because all of their stars had more bad games than you can expect and still be the top team in your conference.  And until you can be the top regular season team in the AFC........you don't have any right to expect to be the top team in the league for the first time in your existence.

The good news is that they probably won't have as much talent and opportunity to waste next season.    That should make them more likable, if nothing else.  This team was really unlikable.   It culminated last night with Gabe Davis screaming at the fans behind the Bills bench and being serenaded "goodbye" by sections 133 and 134.

Truth. Bills win a few of those should win games and we are likely healthier from having a bye in round 1, then would have played HOU this week, and playing winner of KC/BAL game next week.

  10. Another if McD stays question is who this team is.  Do you trust McD to create an identity that works for this roster and adjusts to what is working in the league? Are we a grind out the clock O that we saw last night? Is that even sustainable or why you pay Josh $50m? Are we better running the ball 50/50 or should we be airing it out? Is the lack of wr production due to talent or scheme? A lot of questions to be answered. I don’t what the identity of this team is and I don’t know if I trust McD to figure that out.

What about Bass missing the game tying FG, what about Diggs dropping the pass that probably would have been a TD, what about Cook dropping another pass that hit him in the hands as he was once again WIDE OPEN with no body around him ?

Yah that F N McD is a POS HC & he probably coached those guys to miss all that stuff yep it's all about the coach & has absolutely NOTHING to do with the players !!!

There's a hole lot more to this loss and this season than the HC to reinvent a team with as many all pro starters out for the season as they had and to put a defense on the field with tape & bubble gum to get to the second round of the play offs .

    Never mind its useless ...

Well you can point at a lot of individual plays. But overall the D could barely stop KC on any plays. That is beyond injuries and is about game plan. McD did not have an answer to what KC was doing. They could move the ball at will from the start. Change the players and o don’t see the result being that different. Kelce one on one with a clean release is not working if you have Bernard. Broken coverages in the secondary are happening without injuries. No sacks and minimal pressure is happening without the injuries.

If we score a TD or the tying FG I have zero confidence KC doesn’t march down and score.

  12. If not McD - They better fire the special teams coach. We need to hire an OC, Brady did an admiral job but he is not the answer. If they believe in him, give him nice title to keep him. Take a look at other coaches that are due for a change. But honestly I don’t know if things change without a change at the top. It’s the little things that make some teams good and others great. A new regime could be what gets you there.

Let's be honest. If Bass hits that FG, the Chiefs are kicking a walk off FG of their own a few minutes later. If Allen hits that TD to Shakir, Chiefs are scoring a walk off TD. Every Bills fan knows deep down how the game was going to end one way or the other.

No way we were stopping them. They barely even needed 3rd downs. The literally marched down the field all game. Could have had no d out there.
