they played not to lose...and with slow LBs that was always going to be a problem

I'll go with both of these reasons
I think part of it was the desperation on the lions part
Also I think the lions were way too in love with trying to run the ball on buffalo early when they should have just attacked deep all game

The fourth quarter defense was putrid
The first three quarters defense I have little issue with

Geez Louise…the whining on this board is insane. You do realize they’re playing the BEST team in the NFC right?!
A team that averages over 30+ as well

just don't go prevent please
You can never go prevent against the lions
They are way too aggressive, hopefully this team knows this

The bills get the ball to start the half, having a halftime lead is GIGANTIC
that's why they let the 10 second penalty happen and why the check into a screen was called
Get the ball in the second, score a td. The next time the lions touch the ball they are down 14

Refs are very bad. I’m sick of hearing Romo say the Bills got screwed again.
It's the only way to keep the lions in the game the way the bills offense is currently playing

Kick the FG, guarantee the half time lead

Oh my why are people so upset over the defense
They have actually played fairly well in my opinion

Milano getting handled by the rb on 4th down was the series
He blows the rb up it's bills ball
-
Can hear the bills defense scream holding
That was the 3rd or 4th time

Someone on defense tell the player that bit hard on Jared Goff running to let him run and not bite on him scrabbling
Drop back find a guy to cover

I mean where do you get 15seconds
No time out if rams move at a decent pace they will be lined up by 40 seconds left
We will say they score on the next play - 5 seconds additional with the running clock - we are now down to 35 seconds
We kick the ball out of bounds and the rams run three offensive plays - 12 seconds off the clock. Down to 23 seconds left
Punt takes an average of 7 seconds down to 15 seconds

Wat
It's the two situations that everyone is debating about the use of time out after the sneak
-
Would people rather have which of the following:
1 minute left two time outs and an onside kick opportunity needing only 20ish yards to win
Or
15 seconds no timeouts , needing 45ish to win

...but you don't like to see those kind of coaching mistakes. Not for a serious contender. Less discussed was our not fielding the punt but not putting an extra rusher to block the kick.
Codger may have just made a mistake there, but needed to field it.
The mistake was even having someone back there, needed to go after the punter for a block
The sky high punt was always going to result in no return

Here's the thing that no one is talking about..
Accept or decline? You can make an argument either way.
But the most idiotic thing?
You accept the penalty and then play a PREVENT defence which allows them to get the yards back and chew more clock up.
If you accept it, you HAVE to be aggressive on defence and try to force a punt, not play prevent
In a game where time is becoming valuable you also allow the rams to burn another 40 seconds off the clock either way

Even if you are 100% sure the QB will score? Bills must have thought so. And if you believe it its the most efficient time wise.
I mean if I know I'm gonna score obviously I'm gonna do it
But for the sake of what I am assuming you're asking, not on first or second down. It's too risky when you have downs to play with that will likely take off less than 10 seconds total
I also doubt QB sneak was the play call, guessing they gave Allen an option to change/take a chance if he felt it

And that's the point. It will take eons of time to unpile the sneak. A poster somewhere said 10 seconds, but that's wishful thinking. 20 seconds minimum, so the real mistake was calling the sneak in the first place.
The call was astronomically bad
If you wanted it in Allen's hands, put him in shot gun and let him see if he has a lane or a player open

It wouldn’t take 35 seconds off the clock. Rams would probably be flagged for unsportsmanlike.
Either way, you HAVE to preserve the timeout. Otherwise it all comes down to the onside, which it did, and we lost of course and never touched the ball again.im not saying it was high probability we win even if they call it exactly right. But to call it wrong is strikingly egregious.
It would have taken close to 35 seconds
The issue is the play call, the time out is such a hit debate because the bills needed to conserve the time outs
You never run a play up the middle on a sneak if you're trying to save time

25 seconds, give me a break, most offense can reset and run a sneak again in 15 seconds if that.
It ain't the offense that's gonna be the issue
Go back watch the end of the first half of bills giants last season, the defenders will lay on top of the offensive players for as long as possible
-
Just now, FireChans said:
Huh? You can’t hurry up and get set when everyone is basically at the line of scrimmage already?
In this end of game situation zero chance guys are lined up and ready
The defense isn't gonna be very cooperative with getting off the linemen
Go back watch the end of the first half against the giants last season.....it's exactly what the bills did to tyrod

That’s true. If sneak doesn’t work, you still don’t call TO.
You have to call time out after the sneak, unless you're cool with the next play starting with about 25 seconds left on the clock
-
Both teams have been physical and handsy all game, would have liked to see that not get called
But it was a penalty

I like that we will likely get Jackson and Hyde in game experience before the playoffs too
Hopefully we figure out a rotation with Williams and Milano
Kind of want to see Solomon get the snaps von is getting (even though I think a lot of vons issues are because his contact is set up around sacks and when wins matter he will show up)
