Paradis is one of the best C's in  the NFL. I can't think of a better one besides Frederick or Hudson. Am I overlooking anyone? To put this in perspective, I plugged in Madden 19 and Bodine is rated a 71 overall. Paradis is rated a 88. If we're going to overpay for anyone in FA, let it be him. Let's get our ground attack going again.

I'd  say  Frederick, Hudson and Alex Mack are in a league of their own. Next you have Jason Kelce, Brandon Linder, Pouncey brothers, Max Unger. Then I think Paradis, Morse, Ryan Kelly are kind of that next tier. I think Paradis is overrated and I strongly prefer Morse, but I'd love to have either. Both are huge upgrades.

Our competition for Paradis imo includes the Jets, Cardinals, Vikings, Ravens. Paradis is connected to Gase, Kubiak, and Cards o line coach Sean Kulger. For Morse I think we are looking at competition from the Texans, Dolphins, etc. Morse is from Austin and is close with his disabled brother who lives there.

Next tier of free agency at center, I had my eye on BJ Finney, but he got a second round tender from the Steelers as a RFA. Nick Easton is pretty good but coming off an injury. I think Pat Elflein could be available via trade as well. So I am really hoping for Paradis or Morse.

Jason LaCanfora is an idiot. He gets paid to make obvious statements. A team with a desperate need at WR is in pursuit of one of the top 2 or 3 on the market? No *****. If he signs there LaCanfora says "told ya so" if he doesn't he says "it must have fallen through" it's all a bunch of stupid guesses.

Id say he's pretty smart. If he's been able to make a lucrative career out of doing absolutely nothing and spewing conjecture, hell man I feel like an idiot for working my ass off everyday.

I mentioned in the other thread - Kevin Johnson’s old DB Coach from the Texans is the Bills DB coach (John Butler). So there is some intel there and he must like him to bring him in so quickly.

Great point. Also the Panthers loved him pre-draft. There was a lot of talk that they were going to take him at the end of the first round that year, but the Texans beat them to it.

My worry with Morse is the concussion history. If the team is committing term and dollars to a center, I want him to be available as much as possible to develop a good rapport with Allen and be able to take as much as possible off the kid's plate pre-snap

Agreed on that point. It honestly is his only red flag, but it is a big one. But the upside is huge imo and I think he's worth the risk. He'd be amazing for Allen in setting protections an things of that nature. He literally anchors the offense.

So why do you want Morse over the guy from Denver, Praddis or something like that?

Morse is younger, bigger, faster, stronger, and a former college left tackle,. He has the all around better pedigree. I'd settle for Paradis, but I think Morse is the better player. In all fairness, I have watched Morse than Paradis, but I think Paradis is a zone only center.

Telling you folks: JaWuan James is the name to watch.

Not only were he and Phillips together with Miami for years, he shares an agent with Kyle Williams, Isaiah McKenzie, and Robert Foster.

I like James too. I just want us to do whatever we have to do so we don't use our top ten pick on a right tackle. Whether that's Williams, James, Trent Brown whomever. A key move like that kind of unlocks the rest of the offseason. If we can corral a RT, a C, and a TE, everything changes.

  7. If you really want to get crazy, Kenny Stills, who I really like, could be cut or traded. He played with Phillips at Oklahoma and in Miami. Stills would be a great fit for the Josh Allen skill set.

But yeah im assuming Daryl Williams is the guy. Geneo Grissom, former Patriot, is also a guy who could be a depth end who is a former Sooner teammate. But I just love Phillips' passion and zeal.

Now that I think about it just offer saffold and then go after Paradis or Morse. If they sign those 2 next week the line is immediately Soo much better .

I think I'd rather have Daryl Williams than Saffold. But I want Morse and another guy. I'll take Saffold, Spain, Cann, James, Williams, whomever.

Do what? The Patriots are usually not super active in free agency and draft just as poorly as everyone else. I'll admit that they make good trades.

They pick up discarded vets on the cheap and make good use of them. That's all I'm saying. They did it with Jason McCourty last year.

QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (TB) - top end QB2, Allen got hurt last year, solid mentor, loves Buffalo

TE James O'Shaughnessy (KC) - great blocker

WR Tyrell Williams (LAC) - showed he can be a WR1 in 2016 with Keenan Allen out (69 catches, 1,059 yards, 7 TDS)

LG Roger Saffold (LAR) - top G in NFL, OL needs veteran leadership, helps Dawkins at LT and (I would draft a rookie in R2-3) at C

RT Daryl Williams (CAR) - starting experience with similar style QB, made nonessential by Moton, CAR connection

WLB Thomas Davis (CAR) - playing at high level, Milano broke fibula and had surgery, helps fill Kyle leadership void, CAR connection

I think we with that group and a solid draft we would be looking good.

O'Shaughnessy is an interesting name no one has brought up. He was a KC draft pick who got traded to the Patriots. He got caught in the numbers game and cut, claimed by the Jaguars. The Bills also put in a claim on O'Shaugnessy, and that was before Daboll was here, so he could be a guy they pursue.

I believe Carolina liked him a lot pre draft.

I wrote in the other thread, he was really bad for Leslie Frazier in Tampa which led to his trade. Though he was a safety.

Hes a Greg Schiano guy, so I could see him being a nice chess piece for the Patriots.

  12. So I was just kind of snooping around in free agency to see if there are guys out there who the Panthers showed pre draft interest in.

    2014
Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, DB, Alabama (PRI)
    Chris Davis, DB, Auburn (PRO)
    Pierre Desir, DB, Lindenwood (PRO)
    Dakota Dozier, OL, Furman (PRO)
    Kony Ealy, DL, Missouri (PRI)
Cameron Fleming, OL, Stanford (PRO) (VINT)
    Cody Latimer, WR, Indiana (PRI)
    Marcus Martin, OL, USC (PRI)
Donte Moncrief, WR, Ole Miss (PRI) (PRO)
Billy Turner, OL, North Dakota State (PRI)
    Jason Verrett, DB, TCU (PRI)
Jimmie Ward, DB, Northern Illinois (PRI)

    2015
    WR Ty Montgomery, Stanford
WR DeVante Parker, Louisville (possible trade target)
    DE/OLB Za'Darius Smith, Kentucky*
    DT Carl Davis, Iowa
    RB Tevin Coleman, Indiana
    WR Jamison Crowder, Duke*
CB Trae Waynes, Michigan State* (could be available for trade)
    WR Justin Hardy, East Carolina
    S Landon Collins, Alabama
    CB Quinten Rollins, Miami (Ohio)*
    OT Ereck Flowers, Miami
    CB Ronald Darby, Florida State*
    LB Denzel Perryman, Miami (FL)*
    WR Phillip Dorsett, Miami (FL)*
DE Mario Edwards Jr, Florida State*
WR Breshad Perriman, Central Florida (worked him out last year)
WR Nelson Agholor, USC* (possible trade)
    OL Jeremiah Poutasi, Utah* (RFA)
    CB Josh Shaw, USC
    CB Eric Rowe
    WR Chris Conley

Then there are some guys from 2016-2017 who I think could trade targets like Noah Spence, Solomon Thomas, Sterling Shepard, Forrest Lamp, Pat Elflein, Leonard Fournette.

Interestingly, guys like Jordan Phillips, Breon Borders, Corey Coleman, Hunter Sharp, Malachi Dupre, Jalen Robinette, Nate Orchard, Owamagbe Odighizuwa, Ryan Russell  all passed through here at some point and were Panthers pre-draft visitors. I’m sure I am missing a couple as well.  Plus we drafted guys like Tre'Davious White, Zay Jones, Dion Dawkins, Tanner Vallejo who visited the Panthers in 2017.

Of course you have a guy like Darryl Williams, who visited them, was very good, and is now a UFA. Anyway, it is interesting to take a look at who Beane and McDermott were interested in in past drafts.

  13. I actually really like Lock. I don't like Murray becuase I hate small quarterbacks. I think he might be good, but also think he might get killed. Haskins is interesting but a 1 year guy on a loaded team. Grier reminds me of JP Losman without the elite arm strength, but I do think he has a chance to be good in the right situation. I also like Stidham more than most. But I'm really just glad we don't need one. It's a refreshing feeling.

Yes it does but not generally when a player re-signs with the same team, no? Normally it's a prove-it type deal through free agency while switching teams or rebounding from an injury.

I think the Phillips situation is kind of unique. He was pretty good for us, but I think he is still in a prove it type of situation. A 1 year deal gives him a chance to prove that his small sample was not a fluke and he likely knew he would not get a much better offer on the open market. I think the depth at defensive line in this year's draft is going to hurt defensive tackles on the free agent market.
