My best friend is a huge Bears fan.  I have seen a lot of Mitch play.  I know it is easy to say, but I can't tell you how many times my buddy was crying over the Bears QB woes, and I would watch Trubisky and tell him "he is raw, but he has potential".  He isn't a useless bust. He was a very athletic QB running an offense that was thin on talent, and (surprisingly) thin on offensive imagination.  Hopefully we never have to find out...but I think Trubisky is a guy who could do very well in the right offense...the Bills offense will be good for him.  He is like second year Josh.  That isn't to say he ever gets to be as good as Allen was in year three, just that you can see there is something there with him.  Like Josh, he showed improvement after sitting on the bench a bit this past season. I think this could be a great signing.

Yeah, the Bears were a shitshow. If he gets good coaching he could look a lot better. Hell no as a starter, hell yes as a backup for us.

Good point. The only thing I can say in Buffalo's defense is they had picks 12 and 14. They planned to take Jimbo at 14 and knew Detroit at 13 was all set at QB, with Eric Hipple leading them to the NFC North crown the previous year. I suppose Detroit could have traded with a team who needed a QB though, like New England, who took Tony Eason at 15. It was a risky move by the Bills, although they still had franchise QB Joe Ferguson.

The Bills also had Kelly and Marino rated even. If one of them was gone they would have been just as happy with the other. But it wasn't like they thought Hunter was better. They wanted both Hunter and a QB so they took Hunter first.

I agree. The oline is built to pass block not to run block. But that isn't helped by two backs who really do not accelerate to the hole. When you combine an oline that struggles to hold its run blocks with two backs that don't hit the hole quickly you get an anaemic run game.

I would argue there are no holes. Jonathan Taylor would get more yards than our guys. But IMO they are not missing holes on 90% of the stuffs. They have nowhere to go. Especially short yardage

  4. Got to hand it to Bass. Fantastic season. Seriously important kick today. Great draft pick by Beane, especially considering we knew this was a serious contender going into the season.

Depending on a rookie kicker who was good but not great in college was a big risk. Add in that the whole (great) year he really didn’t have a last second game on the line kick makes his  fG today all the more satisfying.

  5. Kudos to Davis on a fantastic game under severe pressure of playoffs for rookie. Kudos for Beane and scouting staff. Funny that he was exquisite on those two plays when earlier in year the one of few things you could criticize him for was tracking the ball and sideline awareness. Huge game, Gabe.

  6. Williams was one of our unsung Almost Valuable Players the whole season, and this game. Decent, good and great teams need guys to make these kinds of plays when needed, whether they are lucky bounces or not. I, for one, have been thrilled with Williams since week one.
