No offense, but is it just now becoming apparent that OBD has a master plan?

They have been going down a nice linear path for quite a while now, going back to at least as early as the decision to move Watkins.

Of course not...did I say that?

Merely saying it is refreshing.  As many have stated so did Whaley...but then he would get sucked into the next shiny toy on free agent market and deviate.  These guys are not sitting there saying we are going to trade up no matter what but also developing contingency plans. That was not evident by just trading sammy...unless you were a mind reader.

Cue the Whaley apologists.  Someone once told me "Doug had a strategy, it was win-now and that's the best plan to win in the NFL" . LOL

I'm sure he did...but it wasn't to build a winner from ground up otherwise we wouldn't have always chased the shiny object.  So ya.  His plan was not well thought out.  :)

  2. After a few years of Whaley...i gotta admit it finally feels like we have a plan.

The maneuvering of the salary cap and dead cap.  The accumulation of draft picks and now even the pre draft visits seem structured.

We have a plan (likely to trade up) but if that doesn't work we have the back up plan  (roquan Smith, Rudolph, first round WRs etc)...if we don't find a partner for trade up or price is too high we flip the switch and go a different direction.

    So refreshing.

My list from best to worst.

    1. Baker Mayfield

    2. Darnold

    3. Rosen

    4. Falk

    5. Allen

    6. Lauletta

    7. White

    8. Jackson

Interesting list.  For what we want given current coordinator and head coach this list is close.  I'd move lauletta to 4.  Accuracy and willingness to throw a receiver open (as given our current squad they won't be open ;)

Irrelevant how many teams.  These numbers are insane and thata with injuries to sammy Benjamin and others for extended time.

I think it's a really terrible deal. They owe him $8.5 million this year, then he's going to want to get paid next year. And their first pick this year is #87 overall. In 2 years they'll have terrible depth and no cap space.

That's what I thought but turns out they have a bunch of contracts that expire so cap stage won't be an issue and they already have a franchise QB, RB and sick dline.  Pretty sure they are in super bowl or bust territory.

I am glad you think.  Thanks for letting us know what you think.   It is so important to make your own thread to let us know what you are thinking.

Mom thinking you could have put this in any one of the other threads about QBs

I'm glad you approve.  Actually I don't care.  This board is full of what people think...its kind of the idea of a board.  And no one has posted this quote from kiper to my knowledge so I thought I'd share.

But again.  Thanks for the useless thread.

  7. "I think they have to decide how much of a difference is there between Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen, Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield or Josh Rosen," Kiper said.

I just don't see that the difference is that significant between 1 and even 6.  Is it worth surrounding one if those guys with a sub par team to get one?  I don't think so. People thought Joey Harrington was a slam dunk too.  How did that turn out when he went out there a couple seasons with no talent around him?

If we trade up...great but I can't say I believe for one minute darnold will have a better career than Jackson...so as a result I couldn't justify it.

    We will see soon enough.

Okay, let's be the Rams of 2016 who traded up plenty to get the number one pick, Jared Goff their franchise quarterback.

Remains to be seen.  Terrible first year.  Good second year with best weapons in the league.  Let's see what happens this year before we say he's franchise.
