  1. I know a lot if folks want him gone but you have to keep a couple things in mind.

    1.  He's only 21 games into his career.  One that was put on pause due to his injury in rookie year.

    2.  Take his rookie season away and he wasn't exactly surrounded with talent to take pressure off him.  Dareus was loafing around.  Hughes was ok at best.  The rest of our DTs outside of Kyle are back ups at best.   This year he could rotate to be across from Hughes or Murphy and have star and Kyle commanding double team's.

    3.  He's in rookie deal worth 2.8M.  That's fairly cheap.

    4.  If they keep him and he plays well this year it makes Hughes and his high cap hit expendable or makes him better trade bait.

    5.  Against the run he's actually decent. So he would be good to rotate in.

Guy tells me he stays and earns a spot and we end up with a great rotation of DEs.

  2. As a Canadian I find this thread fascinating.  It's as divided as the USA as a whole.  Having lived in the states on 3 separate occasions in 3 different states I will say that from my outsider in perspective that the distaste for CK has a lot to do with race...and a lot to do with patriotism.  I don't agree with him kneeling during the anthem at all, but to say thats not why you don't want to sign him is B.S.

What other free agents have a 4 and 2 playoff record with 2 trips to conference finals and 1 to the Superbowl?    He's done more than Bradford, Bridgewater and McCarran combined but ya.  He's terrible.

Anyway.  Thought I'd weigh in before this gets closed.  We will not sign him not will anyone but it's not due to his playing capabilities.

You are not beating Patriots With retreads and journeymen at QB.

Go fix your QB for the first time since Kelly retired in the 90s

Totally.  A team facing Brady in a game like say the superbowl has no chance with a retread like foles.  Ha

I'm with him.  Sign a vet and take best available with 21 or 22 and load this team up with talent.

Good news!! For a few reasons.

    1. Ivory  is a good player, and a nice option for short yardage/goal line

    2. Eliminates or severely decreases the need for an early  round pick being  spent on  a RB, now we  can  draft another positional need

    3. our FO is demonstrating very good presentation. 2 visits, and 2 signings!!

    4. we can get rid of Tolbert!!

Nailed it.  There are a few bozos in the media criticizing this but he's a solid player at a decent salary that allows us to now focus on other holes in the draft.  Could we have waited to see who else gets released.   Sure but would we do better for cheaper.  Doubt it.

Bridgewater is definitely an upgrade. Just a bigger injury risk. I'm really curious about what his situation really is.

If the Bills could work a trade with Minnesota, that would be awesome. Then draft a QB in the 1st or 2nd.

Tell me how he is an upgrade.  Injury risk and barely passes for more than 3000 yards like Taylor only with more int and less rushing yards.  He's more limited than Taylor.

  6. Unkess we can trade him behind the scenes ala Smith.

Here's why I think this is the case.

    1.  Cousins is not coming here.  He will end up in Denver or NYC.

    2.  Cost to trade up will be too high.  Especially if they aren't sold that one of these guys are the next elite AN.

    3.  We have more holes than qb.  If we trade up we would put a rookie out there with a ****ty team and we know how that turns out.

    4.  Bradford and Bridgewater are NOT upgrades.  Before wasting money on them we have to ask.  Are they really better.

Draft well...sign some people to plug holes and this team will make playoffs again and have more money and options next year for draft.  That's my take...

  7. I'm with a couple other posters.  Gretzky is the standard not Jordan.  Yes Jordan was a better athlete no one can deny that but gretzky has 1000 more points that anyone else...1000 points.  Good to great players don't even get 1000 points in their careers.

    Nhl - gretzky goat

    Basketball - Jordan

    NFL - Jerry rice

Mlb - who knows with all the juicing.

  8. McDermott will not want to take a step back so it's playoffs or bust for him.  These guys also cherish their draft picks so can't see them spending too much to move up to get a top 5 pick.  So...

I wouldnt be shocked if we pay tyrod his roster bonus and then trade him.   I mean Denver would be willing to part with some picks to get him.  Elway was high on him before.

Then We will trade to get Smith or Bradford.    Will take a second this yesr and something next year...maybe the pick we got for ragland in 2019.  These guys would almost surely be able to get us to the playoffs which is where McDermott will want to be.

Then we draft Mayfield or best available at 21.  We need this pick and Peterman to battle to see who is back up and eventual starter.

Then we us the 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks to fill holes and you got a team that should make the playoffs while developing the future franchise qb.
