  1. This regime has done a great job coaching up DBs. For whatever reason it hasn't worked yet getting Elam to work better in zone coverage. A little more patience is probably needed by everyone. If he can't handle it, then next year would be the time to start to try to deal him away.
  2. Preseason games are for getting your starters in sync and evaluations of bubble players. I think today's game did just that, so it was a win. Beane has to do something at MLB. Kyle Allen may have to start the season as QB2 but Beane needs (at a minimum) to bring a better prospect at QB for the PS with hope he moves Kyle of the 53. At most get a qualified QB2 on the team before the 1st game. Look to upgrade (if possible) the OT situation. Depth at WR/TE/RB all look ok for the other offensive positions. The rest of the D (other than MLB) looks good enough for me. Let's get this done and start the season! Go Bills!
  3. It's like the 3rd string ST'ers out there. Shavers won't even have a chance at a PS spot. 4th quarter of the last preseason game means nothing but evals.
  4. They have to be thinking Bates a C next season. Morse has a good chance of being a cap casualty.
  5. Aree with a lot of this. The ST play I give a pass on until the season starts. Lots of guys coming in and out for evaluations. Once the ST team is established I think it will get much better.
  6. Morris has pretty good hands. He had some great tough catches last year.
  7. That's what I like about Harris. He's tough and always moving forward.
  8. I've been tough on Siran for his cost as only a gunner. His play now and prime NCB depth makes me take it back.
  9. So, can we put the Pittsburgh game to rest now.
  10. That's what I mentioned earlier. It really would be a good thing to have Shorter and Isabella to start the season with Shakir "redshirted" 4 weeks. It's good for everyone including Shakir given he will be able to come back 100%. Make the final decision in October. It's like a free insurance policy.
  11. He's in his last year of his rookie contract. ARZ did not take his 5th year option. So yes that he is on a one-year deal at the trade time, but he is eligible to sign an extension at any time. His cap hit is $3.4M for 2023 as I see it. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/arizona-cardinals/isaiah-simmons-47601/
  12. Well SF got blow out by KC 44-23 with Garoppolo. So, if they were in the AFCW instead of the NFCW? They barely beat the Raiders 37-34. Having Purdy come in and manage the games as well as he did was pretty lucky. For an offensively minded HC it seems their D helped throughout the season. These types of comparisons are opinionated at best.
  13. Doesn't shock me at all. They were pretty rusty last week. Give the starters 1-2 series, 2nd string 2-3 series and the camp bodies in for the rest.
  14. I will agree with the bolded. Both Spotrac and OTC are "unofficial" numbers. Although, OTC does not add money to the Top 51 that Spotrac does. Example: Dorian Williams is not in the Top 51 but Spotrac adds $228k in Top 51 cap hit for his 2023 cap hit IF CUT. We all know Dorian Williams will make the team and between what I just mentioned and him replacing a higher paid Top 51 player Beane is not as bad off as some think. I tried talking about this in a post earlier in this thread. I do think that Beane is closer to having only do some small moves, after all the dust settles, than some fans think he has to do.
  15. Thanks a bunch, jayg! I forwarded this to my nephew Adam (who just started college) and it's really going to be worth it. Sunday Ticket and Redzone for $119.00! The site also gives a step-by-step instruction for him to sign up which is great!
  16. Kincaid was talked up by a lot of draft gurus. He has performed really well in camp. He looks pretty good in preseason too. I'm holding my excitement in check, but it sure is starting to look pretty, pretty, pretty good.
  17. No there isn't. Beane doesn't need that much to stay under the cap though.
  18. I always like to look at the Spotrac roster at the guys below the 51 cutoff and count how many are going to make the team in my view. Of course, 2 will be the 52nd and 53rd roster guys. As I see it those below the Top 51 are: Hamlin, Williams, Shakir, Benford, and Morris. Add to that list a good chance of some of these guys: Isabella, Shorter, Van Demark and a couple of other maybes. Then you got to look at the Top 51 and cut guys to make room for the below guys. It's a fun thing to do. I'm retired, so I got the time. LOL.
  19. He wouldn't. SF is caught holding the bag on a rookie contract and they will eat a bunch of it if they want to trade him.
  20. Milano has a huge amount of dead cap next year. He's not going anywhere. Your points about next year though have a lot of potential. I'm a compromiser in life so I see one of Dawkins/White as a potential trade/cap casualty. However, if they both play well it will be a great problem to have.
  21. That is almost unbelievable when you factor in what he cost to draft!
  22. A broken rib could take some time to get back to 100%. It could (maybe) be the thing that get Shorter and Isabella on the 53 for a longer look. Red shirting Shakir for 4 weeks also gets him back 100%. I guess it could happen if Isabella agreed to a cut and sign.
  23. True. But in the past the initial cutdown was camp bodies that most GMs didn't care about acquiring. This new rule IMO was to keep those guys on the team to play a lot in the last totally meaningless preseason game protecting the depth from injuries. I guess we will see in a few days if it has changed anything.
