  1. So I was thinking, Coleman's skill set and body type is similar to Gabe Davis (taller, not a speedster, get jump balls) so its possible their plan is to have Coleman replace Davis as the #2. Coleman is young and has a higher ceiling. Then they will trade for a WR1 in FA or get one next offseason.
  2. I've been wanting the Bills to bring in competition at kicker. Bass had a weird year. He wasn't great and it seemed like a lot of his kicks, even some of the makes, looked awkward. Like the kick at the end of regulation against the Jets week 1. Yes it was a 50ish yarder but it banked off the goalpost and in, so kinda lucky. Some of other ones just didn't look straight or they moved around. And then he gets a short one blocked in the Steelers playoff game and missed the one against KC. I don't want the season to come down to a kick in the playoffs again and we're worried that our kicker makes a 45 yard or less FG....those should be basically automatic. Plenty of kickers in the leagues are making 55+ seem easy.
  3. I'm a big McDermott supporter but he blew the end of the 13 seconds game. I mentioned not rushing anyone at Mahomes for the plays on the last drive. I mean no pass rushers, 11 in coverage, not everyone deep but probably 3 deep, 4-5 intermediate 15-20 yards and then the other 3-4 short. Don't worry about the sideline because they had 2 timeouts. That way you have 11 guys in coverage when you know Mahomes has to throw immediately and its either going to be short and call timeout, or deep and hope for a prayer. As for Mahomes running, if Mahomes runs, that will take too much time. A decent run of 10-15 yards would take 5+ seconds and with 11 in coverage and multiple guys covering short, that may not even be possible cause everyone has eyes on the QB and can't rush past him.
  4. If they run into that situation again, I would just not have anyone rush the QB. They only have 13 seconds, they either have to throw something fast, or hold onto the ball longer, in which case its good for us. They are going to do a quick throw so the rush isn't going to get there, and given the time, just put 11 guys in coverage and force a really tight throw.
  5. I would only extend him, I would not trade unless the deal was unbelievable. A second round pick isn't close to what I would trade him for. If we want to compete this year, we can't bank on Van Demark or a rookie coming in and holding down Allen's blindside. Dawkins is pretty good and we need the best o-line we can get. Plus, continuity on the o-line is important as well.
  6. True, I mean this board is unreadable sometimes. It's not like KC hasn't made mistakes (Toney trade, drafting CEH round 1, drafting Sky Moore, etc)
  7. I actually really liked the "a Lombardi isn't a matter of if, it's a matter of when" line. It made him sound confident and that he isn't just sulking around because of another loss.
  8. Oh boy, you just won the SB and now you're coming to this board and saying this isn't a championship-caliber roster when we were about 20 yards away from beating you. It is a championship-caliber roster. There is obviously going to be some retooling, which every team does every year, but the core is still in place to win a SB next year. QB, the entire starting offensive line, starting RB, 2 starting receivers, both starting TE's are all under contract next year. We need a couple WRs (FA and/or draft). On defense, we need safety and Dline. Four LBers and 4 CBs are under contract next year, as well as Oliver and Rousseau on the D line. Jones will prob be resigned. We'll be right there next year, trust me.
  9. I don't want to cut Morse either. I agree, the oline was greatly improved last year and keeping the same starting 5 will only help the line improve and be more consistent.
  10. How are there too many holes to fill? We need help at receiver, safety, Dline, and some depth. I want to draft a receiver early, and possibly a second one mid-round. I want to draft at least one Dline and 1 safety. It will depend on where the value is and who the Bills like on where these players are picked, but these are the positions I would like them to target. Possibly a center to take over for Morse in a year or two. For FA I would like a veteran brought in to help with the transition to the rookies playing more, a veteran safety, and maybe Dline. They would all be mid-range FA obviously, no high priced FA. The entire Oline is under contract next year. TE's are fine, RBs we can pick up a cheap FA or draft one in mid to late rounds. CB is fine, LB is fine as we get Milano and Bernard back.
  11. I've agreed with pretty much everything you've said in this thread. Yes, in the moment when we lose to KC, everyone is upset, frustrated, me included. It feels like we'll never get past them in the playoffs. But the difference in these games is so close that one of these times we're going to score 1 more point than they do and we're going to get past them. I mean if you watch the divisional round game this year, what tells you that if we were to run it back with same quality rosters that we couldn't win it? If the two teams played 10 times, maybe KC wins 6 and we win 4? Maybe it's 5 and 5. KC certainly wouldn't win 9 or 10 times. I think the plan going forward should be to put more resources into offense and then get younger on defense. Our defense has been good but it doesn't seem to matter how good it is when we play KC in the playoffs. I want to draft 1, maybe 2 wide receivers, preferably with speed to help spread the field. Possibly draft a RB mid to late rounds that tough between the tackles runner that complements Cook. I want to run the oline back because they were very good and should be even better with more time together. TE's are fine. I don't want to ignore the defense, but I want to get younger and not pour a ton of FA money into it. Draft D line, safety. We're getting Milano and Bernard back who didn't play against KC. CBs are pretty good. Get younger and faster on D, add legit receiving threats on offense and I think we could certainly be better next year.
  12. I guess all you guys should just skip next year then. The Chiefs are the best team in the league and with 2 mins left we were about 20 yards away from beating them. It's not like we're totally outclassed, far from it. The margin is so small that 1 or 2 plays go differently we win. I don't know why that doesn't invoke optimism that we can beat them next year.
  13. I almost feel like Josh gets bored sometimes in the regular season which leads to some of his turnovers because I can tell that once playoffs come around and the games are obviously very important, he seems to hone in and play better and not turn the ball over a lot. Like I could feel that he wasn't going to turn the ball over in these playoffs even though he had a lot of them this season. The only turnover he almost had was the fumble late in the KC game that we fortunately recovered.
  14. This is where I'm at. I expect a win and a loss would be unacceptable and catastrophic really. Also, if we were to lose somehow, we weren't going very far anyway. So either way I'm pretty calm about this one. Next week, however, will probably be different.
