I have a 7 teamer tomorrow. Loving it, might bet it again. I included one O/U and it has me a little nervous.

I don’t think anyone is falling for your foolishness. You didn’t bet jack ****, half the stuff you say about betting makes zero sense. I got an offer I couldn’t refuse...?

    Believe what you want....

Bills line is now +8, as I said it would be. Easy money. Bills probably lose by 3-6, they won’t lose my more than 7. I said this in a random thread the other night. I expect the spread to go up another half a point and then get hammered down by sharps and probably end up back at 8 by kickoff.

I hope it’s easy money, I have a lot riding on this game

"Utterly dreadful" and "brutally bad in a myriad of ways" isn't quite how I'd characterize it.  But I have to admit- I was more discouraged than encouraged.  "It's his first start," "he had a few good plays," etc.  I know those things- IMO it was still discouraging to see him miss on some blatantly open throws (Murphy & DiMarco, famoulsy) and to force those picks in the second-half (especially the first one- I was imploring him to throw it away as he released it)...

Ledyard correctly mentions "there's a long way to go"- and I still think Allen's relentlessly competitive nature gives him a chance, even with his pre-draft concerns rearing their ugly head again in start #1 (mechanical unsoundness, inconsistent accuracy, decision-making, etc.).  Still, I was hoping week #1 offered a few more positives (there WERE some), even considering all factors like the Bills' under-talented roster, the opponent, his first NFL start, etc.

Question - what makes Jon Ledyard such an authority?  He works for a second rate, niche website about 95% of football fans don’t even know exists.

I’m sure it’ll get pointed out several times, so I’ll be the first.  There’s only 16 games in a season.

But to the point of your post.  We can all certainly hope that the turnaround is quick. I think we all realize this year, from a win/loss perspective, is going to be tough to watch.  Regardless of record, if Allen shows signs of growth from now till December, I’ll be optimistic for next season no matter what happens.

There are only two things that would make me pessimistic next season.

1: Allen looks terrible this year.  Even this is a stretch though.  If he looks bad all year, I’ll still probably be optimistic, unless number 2 happens, which is.....

2: Benjamin is our number one receiver next year.  If he is the best of the bunch next year, I will be pessimistic heading into the season.  He’s a guy who has a place in this league, but not as a number 1.  Or if he is the number 1, he needs a quality #2 for it to work.  Like Golden Tate in Detroit.  He isn’t a great number 1 receiver by himself, but it works with Marvin jones as the 2

Wait a second?  Who outside of Joe “Mr. Nobody” Ledyard thinks that Allen looked “terrible?”  Most correctly identified his performance as inconsistent - having good and bad moments.  This is what typically happens with rookie QB’s as demonstrated by Sam Darnold

    Post some proof.

Also agree with the other that say this kind of attention seeking it problematic. Now nobody is going to believe anything you say ever again.

    edit: Wtf does LAMP mean?

No clue, but I’ve noticed it’s something that really insecure and judgemental members write in here... let’s stick to football

The tea cup ride is no joke! I wasn’t the same for hours after that! Felt as awful as if I’d bet $5k on the Bills....all dizzy and nauseous.....

Would you tell her if you won?????? Or would you spend it on something like....coke and hookers?

Of course, I will.   I’ll have to come clean at some point either way.  But trust me, it will be much better if I win this bet

So if you lose, are you going to share the bad news with your wife?  I really hope for your sake it is simply nagging you get....

I get pissed if I lose $100 at the craps tables or playing the horses, which is why I rarely gamble.  Just hate losing money.  Given the anxiety you are going through, I hope you think twice about making a bet like this again.

I’ll have to because she will likely notice when she checks our bank account.  Hasn’t happened yet but I am sure she will check before the end of the month.

Hope you have more than $5K in savings, because if the wifey finds out, the divorce attorney is going to cost you several times that....

Well I don’t think it would be quite that bad.  Yes we do have more than $5K but $5K is 5K.  Not like $20.  If I win then it’s all gravy but if they don’t cover the spread I will get nagged to no end.

$5K is too rich for my blood (pressure).

Nevertheless, I wonder if all the guys who have criticized you for betting $5k on the Vikings would bet $5k on the Bills.

Under no circumstances would I bet a significant amount of money on the Bills. Maybe that gives you some comfort.

By the way, why didn't you get 16.5 points rather than 17?

Better odds so that I can make more money.

You got a very attractive offer?  Translation:  I went to the sports book and bet the Vikings -17, just like everyone else that bet at that book.  It was -16.5 at a couple spots earlier today.  That’s attractive at this point.  Might even drop back to 16.5 before game time.

Not saying but I’ll leave you with this.  I stand to profit a lot more with this offer than I would with any books you can find online

    Yeah pretty much

Dammit, I went to bed.  Slept for about 30 minutes and woke back up wide awake.  Have to be up in almost 5 hours.  Why can’t it just be Sunday already!?!?!?

  11. Thanks to everyone who chimes in here.  Even those who called me an idiot for taking the bet. You made me laugh which is always good.   At the time I took the bet, I felt really strongly about it.  The more I thought about it, I get a little more concerned - especially the garbage time.

Sunday will be like the Super Bowl for me.  I might just try to watch the game by myself because I don’t want anyone to know how much I have riding on it.

I listened to the interview and, frankly, found Daboll to be knowledgeable and honest.  The fact is, he's got two young QB's he's developing. It's clear he is being patient and supportive while recognizing there are/ will be growing pains. Interestingly, the poster alludes that Daboll was "brutal" and "almost Billichick-esque" in his boring (note; correct spelling) interview. By any measure, Daboll is far more expressive than the soon to be HOF coach. Having said that, if personality and entertaining the fans in a radio interview is the hallmark of a great coach, wouldn't Rex Ryan and Jim Mora Sr. still be in the league?

That’s nice....but I completely disagree.  He could have given us some info.  Even Howard sounds like he knew that interview sucked.

Also I’m a fan of Daboll, I just thought he gave a boring interview with very little insight

I am surprised he has time for an interview.  He sure as hell didn't have his team ready the last two games.  Maybe he should focus on that.

WGR is the Bills flagship station, so they schedule these interview well in advance.

What was the great deal you got to place the bet? Without that info we can not properly laugh.... ummmm debate this with you.

Not supposed to tell but they gave me much better odds which means there’s a chance to make better money.  That’s why I didn’t mind taking 17 instead of 16.5 points.

I wouldn't worry much, man... We're gonna get murdered.

Well I’m confident in a Minnesota victory.  I think they have a very good chance of winning convincely, but it’s the big spread and the potential of garbage time points that scares me

EAGAN, Minn. -- Minnesota Vikingsrunning back Dalvin Cook and defensive end Everson Griffen have officially been ruled out for Sunday's home game against the Buffalo Bills, coach Mike Zimmer announced Friday.

Not the best news for me.  I still think Minnesota has a better chance of covering the odds than not.

5 grand? Geez louise. I wish I had that kind of money to burn

You make it sound like I just handed over the money.  It is a lot of money for me, which is why I’m so nervous.  At the time, I kind of looked at it as an investment.  Kind of like investing in the stock market.  Difference is this is a high risk-high reward situation.  Man am I feeling the pressure
