No I’m just thinking about the “big picture” here. Some of these fans can’t see the forest from the trees. This is usually characterized by overly negative and defamatory comments about Beane and McDermott, and whinging and pining about the past.

It’s funny, so many Bills fans criticized Sully for being negative. They should read TSW. The amount of mis-informed, negative, and offensive takes is off the charts here. Sully looks like John Murphy compared to some of you.

He’s less negative than many members here

You and Sully are equally negative. I think you two would get along well

I guess, but is Beane really at fault for Vontae quitting mid-game? How many times has that even happened?

Great post!
It's a shame that we are so quick to judge two individuals who have only been running the show for a little over a year. Plans take time to develop.
This isn't blind faith or drinking the kool-aid, it's being a sane and mindful individual. Just because another team turned things around quicker, that shouldn't matter. Every team has a different dynamic to work with, and sometimes that process is realized in 1 year, while some may take several years.
if you can't be patient, then stop watching this year and just sit on the sideline until next March/April
I think anyone who looked at the roster last season was foolish to think they would be able to build off their 9-7 record. Remember the ultimate goal of McDermott and Beane was to build a team to win long-term. Not to build 9-7 again

I'm sorry but that's just freaking wrong. Hes barely worthy of an NFL roster spot outside of decent special teams and yet he is on the field and getting targets on the Bill's.
1. Please go get Gordon or Bryant.
2. Or Please go get maclin or some other has been.
3. Heck. Resign kerley.
But dont let this guy on the field anymore please.
I agree...I don’t want Andre on this team. He’s not a good receiver and he dropped another pass today. His claim to fame is catching a pas over Aaron williams on 4th-and-26 to knock the Bills from playoff contention in 2014

The negative Bills fans will be exposed this season. The same fans who sang Coach McDermott’s praises last year and now the ones calling for his head today. Buffalo fans are so dramatic. Well, I’ll say the ones calling for his head will be the first ones to praise Coach McDermott when he gets this thing turned around next season.
Remember he is given 5 years to build a winner. It doesn’t happen overnight. In the end, I have 100% confidence Mr. McDermott succeed.
Its a marathon Bills fans, not a 40 yard dash. We’re not even 6 miles in the race yet, don’t give up!

Thats my point. It isnt a plan. If theh wanted to get all their guys and blah blah build or whatever
shady should have been dealt last year.
Wood dealt last year
Looney Toons dealt last year
Hughes dealt last year.
Not kick the pain down the road.
Then Why was McCoy not dealt last year (will be retired before we are good)
Hughes (same)
Kyle (Same)
Eric (is retired)
Looney Toon ( is retired)
If they did “kick the pain” down the road, you would have been whinging about the Bills not making the playoffs for 18 years. Get on the bandwagon or GET OFF THE BUS!

I'm glad some took the time to reply and break that post down.
I'm so tired of people just anointing Allen and Edmunds. I'd love for them to pan out, but they haven't proven to be franchise players at all.
But they also haven’t failed either and both have shown flashes. Also the sample size is 2 games. I’m encouraged by what I’ve seen. Im looking at things from a 10,000 foot view... not a 10 foot view

There are many reasons why, in the face of the ugly, negative, and defamatory rhetoric from some of the Bills fan base (I use that term loosely), I stand in lock-step with Coach McDermott and GM Beane. There are many reasons why:
- We finally have acquired our franchise QB. This year will all be about his individual development, not about the team’s overall record. Also would you rather have another 7-9 year with Tyrod Taylor starting? Or a year bottoming out at say 4-12 where we use a high draft pick to acquire premium talent? Cal me crazy but I’ve seen enough of 7-9. If you’re not gonna make the playoffs, Miss them by a mile.
- The are cleaning up the cap situation. Doug Whaley’s cap situation was atrocious. It takes time to clean it up. Beane was able to unload overpaid stars like Sammy Watkins, Marcel Darius, and yes even Tyrod. Next year, we have a lot of $$$ to spend and a high draft position. We will rebuild.
- They ended the playoff drought! I repeat, they ended the playoff drought! Some of you would have traded your first born to end the drought, these guys did it and you whinge.
- We have our defensive QB’s in Edmunds, Hyde, and White. Solid starters for years to come. Yes Edmunds has struggled a bit so far but he is 20 years old. Give him 1 year NFL experience and you will see.
- Coach McDermott will fix the problems on defense.
Folks look at the talent on this team. Did you really think this was playoff caliiber? They suffered too many losses. This is a rebuilding year. I would encourage you to look at the overall progress of Josh Allen and not the team’s overall record. This is a rebuild.
So in conclusion, thank you Coach McDermott. Thank you GM Beane. You have our ship headed toward the right direction with the character and culture of this organization.
To the fans who whinge on this board about the Bills. Quit your whinging. We had a playoff team last year. They broke the streak. Chalk this up to a rebuild and move on. If you don’t like the team....get off the bus! (Mic drop)

He was not. Resigned on March 9.
NFL FA started on March 11

Fitzpatrick is going off again this week against the Super Bowl champions. At half he has 271 yards and 3 TDS and still counting! Love it! One of my favourite Bills.
Why didn’t we try ro bring him in this offseason to be the perfect mentor for Josh Allan?
Fitzpatrick would have been the perfect QB for this team, because he could start for a few games and would definitely be a good mentor. I remember thinking about that before after free agency. I believe he resigned with Tampa right before the Free Agency period started.
They never had a chance to sign him, so you can’t fault them for that

Glancing down the OP's list I would say Biscuit and Freddy would both make excellent candidates.
It seems like Biscuit has had poor relations with the organization since his retirement. You never see him or hear of him, despite being one of the bigger stars in franchise history.
Ok so I hate bringing this up, but it’s relevant to the discussion. It makes me wonder if his pleading guility to a sexual abuse case in Buffalo back in 1997, night have something to do with it. I can see, especially the current regime with a female owner, a little hesitant to celebrate someone who pleaded guilty to a pretty shocking crime right on their backyard. Pure speculation, but just wondering

So Leon Seals is an option but Butch Byrd isn’t???
Honestly he was way before my time. The Byrd I’m more familiar with is Jairius and maybe Gil from Techmo Supet Bowl.
I looked up Butch’s stats though and they are pretty exceptional especially for his era. Seems like he should be a contender for the honor. If they are looking for “a moment” at the stadium, I think the Super Bowl era players and post-SB era would get the largest ovation.

Yep...noted and fixed. Ironic thing is this - Why is Talley up there when a guy like Cornelius Bennett had a much stronger career and is nowhere to be found?

I've always had this feeling that if we put Scott Norwood on the WOF that the curse would be lifted.
Yeah but he doesn’t deserve to be on the wall
before a kicker like Steve Christie or even Rian Lindell who made bigger kicks in many more situations

Headed to the stadium today. As I’m packing the car my brother in law and I are discussing the Bills Wall Of Fame. I was shocked to see some of the names who are on the Wall and some who are not. Don’t get me wrong some of the guys were very good (Hansen, Smerlas) and other excellent players IMO were snubbed (, Cornelius Bennett, Fred Jackson).
See IMO, this Wall should be reserved for the best of the best. The greatest players in franchise history. Not just very good players...the best of the best.
So this will be fun.... let’s see which player deserves to be on the Wall Of Fame next?
