I actually think this does have a chance at being a defensive battle. Mariota had a good game which usually is followed by a not-so-good game. I think we could see a 17-10 affair here

Wait a second wasn’t that Sal Cappaccio’s Extra Point Show? Did they boot Sal for Murph and Chris brown? That is brutal

Good post...I agree with it. The only think I'd expect to see is a few FA OLinemen and WRs brought in. For the most part, what we see is what we'll get for the remainder of this year.
Yeah I can see that as well

Not only will this not happen in 2018, but Daboll is a lock to Coach here in 2019 as well. Maybe even longer

Would have been a nice draft pick for the Bills

I’m not saying they wouldn’t be better in the short term or better overal. Just these requested moves are unlikely to happen

Let me guess. You're Sean McDermott's mom ... or one of the Pegulas' kids.
Nope just a fan who keeps it real. It’s ok to complain after today. Just know these far-fetched pope dreams wont happen. And we’ll have McDermott and Beane for at least 5 years....maybe moore

I see a lot of wishful thinking from fans here and listen to comments on WGR, suggesting things that they want to happen for the Bills. The problem is, many of these suggestions are just so far-fetched. Here's my attempt at predicting things that won't happen in 2018
1. Sean McDermott will NOT get fired
It won't happen folks. We are stuck with Coach McDermott for the full 5 years of his deal - barring some catastrophic falling out or crazy circumstance. Terry seems to love McDermott, plus I am certain he gave his assurances to come here. He's getting all 5 years.
2. Brandon Beane will NOT get fired
See above. I am sure Beane told PSE that he needed time and laid out his plans to turn over the roster. Not happening, friends.
3. The Bills will NOT sign Dez Bryan
#1 Dez Bryant wants the easiest path to a Super Bowl as possible. He's not going to come back for a rebuilding team. #2 The Bills don't want to invest what it would take to sign him for 1 year. It aint happened.
4. Rishard Matthews will NOT sign Buffalo
He had a falling out with Terry Robiskie who is a coach on the Bills. #1 the Bills don't want distractions like this on their roster and #2 it would be a slap in the face to Robiskie. McDermott is too loyal. This one doesn't happen
5. The Bills will NOT trade LeSean McCoy
Shady is a captain on the team but also he's a 30 year-old running back with a phat contract. Teams won't want to take that salary on and even if they did, what could the Bills get in return? A 7th round draft pick? Is it worth trading your captain for a 7th round pick so you can get an Austin Prohl type player? Probably not.
6. The Bills will NOT release any of their starting offensive linemen
Many have called for the releases of John Miller, Ryan Groy, Jordan Mills, and/or Vlad Ducasse. This isn't going happen. Why? Because as poorly as this group has played, they are the best available on the team. If there were better alternatives on the roster, you have to believe they would have explored them.
7. The Bills will NOT trade "significant" draft capital for OL, WR or veteran QB
By significant, I mean a pick in Round 4 or higher. They don't want to give up a draft asset for a rent-a-player who probably won't be around in a year. They also seem comfortable with Peterman as backup. I can see them trading a low pick for a player, but I don't think we'll see any Kelvin Benjamin trades this year.
8. Brian Daboll, Juan Castillo, Leslie Frazier or David Culley will NOT get fired.
Daboll is safe for 2019. Some of the others may get the axe at the end of the year, but it won't happen during the year. Keep dreaming.
There are my ideas - let's see your things that won't happen.- 1

Keep being disingenuous. McDermott won the power struggle with Whaley before the 2017 draft, and hasn't relinquished his power over the roster since. The claim that McDermott and Beane "are joined at the hip" is simply code for McDermott making personnel decisions and the GM doing the legwork to acquire said players.
I've never once read any credible source in the media make this claim. This is pure conjecture and speculation on your part and you have ZERO evidence to back it up, other than your opinion

I get that money talks but if the contract is not guaranteed then why come and play for Buffalo? We have been the laughing stock of the NFL for 3 of the first 4 weeks so far.
Cleveland..
Frank Gore
TJ Carrie
Jarvis Landry
EJ Gaines
Chris Hubbard
All after an 0-16 season

The rest of their acquisitions were all brought in by trades, so the notion that money talks doesn't hold much weight when using the Browns as an example.
They gave Landry a massive contract....that counts

I agree. McDermott is a decent coach but he should never have been given control of personnel. Beane has absolutely no experience in player personnel, and the scouting staff brought in to replace the scouting personnel who were fired shortly after Whaley was canned are apparently incompetent.
Where has this every been stated? It's been stated by the team that Beane has control over the 53 man roster. You claiming that McDermott has "control over the personnel" is pure conjecture without any proof.

When healthy he is an average WR, which is better than just about any WR on the Bills roster.
Disagree...in 2018 after a number of injuries he is, in fact, below average

According to the Bills cheerleaders on TSW, McDermott and Beane should get at least 5 years, maybe even 10, no matter how incompetent they prove to be.
We don't think they'll get atleast 5 years....we know they'll get atleast 5 years. DEAL WITH IT!!!

Difference for sure- we would get better production out of the street guys
Think about it - KB is the best WR and he gets little separation.
Zay Jones is invisible
Andre Holmes is not a good WR but he’s on the team for ST’s. Should not be playing WR
Ray Ray McLeod is mostly a ST’er. Should not really be playing WR.
Robert Foster is a fringe member of the roster. He might not make most teams.

Zay has a one year and three game history of getting no separation (or catching the ball).
Andre Holmes has a six year and three game history of getting no separation.
Robert Foster doesn't even have a history.
Ray Ray Ray hasnt really played.
No live plays today showed separation.
No replays today showed separation.
Looks like a trend.
Actually Foster is the only one who can separation on the deep ball, he usually drops the bombs though

Star isn’t too bad. Benjamin has been a disappointment but they traded a 3rd round pick. It’s not like they gave up a 1st.

The Bills WR’s are easily the worst in the NFL. They are such a non-factor, it made me ponder a question that seems far-fetched but is certainly interesting.
If you replaced all of the Bills 5WR’s with the 5 best street free agents that you could find (excluding a Dez Bryant), do you think there would be any difference in the production at the position?
Call me crazy but I honestly don’t think there would be. The best Bills WR is Kelvin Benjamin and he gets just a handful of targets a game. Half of those targets he drops. The rest of the crew might as well be invisible.
So so what are your thoughts?

He should have McDermott on the air tomorrow around 5pm.
What did he say today? I understand why he would not want to burn bridges in his weekly spot with McD, but by the same token, I think he could be a little more confrontational than he is.
He questioned McDermott’s decisions and said the team doesn’t feel like it has to our score the other team like KC does.
He also was critical to how the roster was built this season.
again though, he doesn’t have the courage to bring these points up to McDermott when he has a chance to speak to him

So basically what you are saying is, take you lumps this season and focus on 2019?

Rodak: Bills Should Explore Trades for McCoy and Benjamin

I explained in another thread why this will never happen. Details are not trading a team captain for a seventh round pick. Only way I can see this happening is if shady asked for a trade. By all indications he seems happy in Buffalo. Also with Kelvin what team is going to give up any significant draft capital to rent a player for the second half of the year? It’s just not going to happen. The little that they get in return doesn’t even make the trade worth it.I explained in another thread why this will never happen. How much do you really think teams are willing to give up for a 30 year old RB with a huge salary?
