Only saw the replay on NFL+, but caught the broadcast team ripping on WNY weather quite a bit.  What the H?  Seemed like an OK weather day to me.

I've made this point in the past, anticipating that when the Bills got good, all announcers would have left it to trash WNY weather,  anything to be able to cut down the area.  What's next, Love Canal references?

Talk abt small city syndrome... you're in the big time now boy!! We have our big boy pants on;)

And yet, there's been so much media attention about Tua's "emergence" that it bore half a second to evaluate. Obviously, the proof will be this Sunday. The Patriots held them in check with zone defense, and I believe that our version is superior to theirs. The big numbers came from a man coverage Ravens scheme with a depleted secondary.

Also, just for conversation... remember Allen's 1st couple years where we would get super frustrated at pundits talking about Allen and it was blatantly apparent that they werent actually watching the games? Hed show flashes, but he was throwing to KB. Homerism aside, youd see plays where even on incomplete passes it was evident there was something special there that just hadnt been put together.  I remember this driving me nuts on Jets forums. Theyd talk trash - but it was obvious they werent looking at anything more than the paltry numbers on the stat sheet.  This feels like the opposite. The stats look decent bc Tua is being lifted by his weapons rather than him elevating their play.

I mean, i don't think we disagree but media is media. They'll never straight rag on someone even when warranted.  To watch the Pats game was a giant bore, left with the feeling of thank god hes not our qb. To hear the talking heads speak to his performance after the fact, you would have thought he played excellent. Instead, he was missing WRs in the flat, behind on crossers and throwing duck jump balls his WRs made plays for him on. My only point, was that to just watch him is to know THAT is not who we should be afraid of. FWIW, I'm not some Bills will run everyone out of town and am a 'any given sunday' believer. But even at cautious as I am, there isnt an oz. of me scared of Tua the QB. Again, he's simply a means of distribution and if he does his job even medicore then there is reason for concern but its bc of THEM rather than HIM. No deep dive required IMHO

The further I go into mental prep for this Sunday I've decided that it's not Tua that I am afraid of. It's his targets. Gisecki and Hill and Waddle are a formidable groups. Gisecki can keep chains moving while Hill and Waddle are explosive threats every time they touch the ball. And this is with our top 2 CBs (White and Jackson) out for injury, meaning that we are going to need to lean heavily on the rookies.

I foresee a lot of two high safety, keeping everything in front of us. Make Tua grind it out against what is looking like a dominant pass rush.

Respectfully,  this shld have been blatantly apparent on the surface. Tua has never put fear in Bills fans. Hes simply a means of distribution and an arguably adequate one at best. The weapons are the bread and butter and does the popgun have enough pop to get the job done. Week 1, it was like the battle of who could care less. After years of watching the bills and jets slug it out to a 17-10 game and then turning on Sunday nights game and having it look like those teams were playing a totally different game - the tables have turned. Unless its a pundit having to take the view of Tua is good for the sake of debate, no one is worried about tua.

Ditto. Out 1st Throwback uni was a MNF game vs. Denver in the 90’s. Because we weren’t allowed to wear white helmets, the red one with a white, grazing buffalo looked hideous. It looked like a flock of geese let loose together overhead.. 🤦‍♂️

They were allowed,  this is another 'Ralph was cheap' situation. It was cheaper to peel a decal rather than add a new lid. Look no further than that games opponent wearing an orange helmet when they normally wore blue.

I’ve been pretty sensible all night. Go read many other posts from others as a comparison.  Like I said, surprised my comment heated you up so much. You keep saying that I’m complaining.  I think you were missing on my tone.

Was it blatantly obvious we needed CB? Yes. Did other teams likely know that? Yes.  Does Beane lose some leverage as a result? Yes. Was Beane potentially forced to pay extra to take ‘the only other CB with a first round value?’ Yes.

I don’t think Beane himself would disagree or have a problem with the above.  It just played out that way.

Like I said, it is what it is. We have a starter, hopefully… and hopefully the next Tre White. I trust Beane. I’m not sour one bit. Would I have loved to see some fortune fall to us? Sure.. but we have a position of need now filled.

You were placing so much emphasis on what a shame it was the moved was telegraphed. What i was trying to say to you was who cares? Its nothing to loose sleep over my man. The pick matched a need that someones grandmother could have picked out. The entire thing just made sense. I didnt read your other posts - it just seemed like a weird thing to complain about. You keep saying I was triggered, but maybe you missed the tone as well. S'all good, everything worked out the way it should so no need to sweat the small stuff!

Ease up fella. No need to get upset. I would hardly say I was complaining.. just stating that our hands seem to have been tied and teams somewhat knew it.
I’m baffled that my comment triggered you that much. I’m a huge Beane supporter and I trust the guy, but I saw this exact scenario coming from a mile away.

Is what it is. We needed a corner.

Right,  so we did what was needed. Why complain? This post is sensible. The previous one was unnecessarily throwing shade. Nothing personal, its a message board. That said, ever read the Pats board or Chiefs planet? The ignorance and entitlement is unbearable. Bills fans are better than that. Winning is fun, but that previous 20 years sucked. A little bit of remembering where we came from to get here goes a long way

Sucks. Just seems so telegraphed by us. We never made a play at a CB in free agency and showed our hand for the draft. Such a strong chance we were taking CB and everyone knew it. It was blatant.

I can only imagine that KC was jumping us.

Hopefully Beane was right with this kid.

If THIS is litterally the biggest complaint you have about buffalo bills football these days then is this really worth complaining about? SuperBowl contenders bc of the GM, but heaven forbid we use the draft as intended to fill a need... you are right.... total clown show...

Yes, another one.  Like taking that bum Allen when Rosen was still available? 😁

Exactly. That was the year it clicked that Im not a GM and to come on a message board and act holier than thou bc i disagree with one of the best GMs in the game is just plain embarrassing. To the people blasting this pick... duh fuh do you think you know?! Step off the high horse and get over yourselves. If you were that gifted you sure wldnt be here posting. Kinda silly. Besides, there are only a handful of people here who have actually put the time and work in scouting. Id venture most people complaining didnt know any of these names a few months ago...

Better to be a lineman if you do not want to move.  Moving is a big thing for pass catching RBs.

Beane seems furious especially with agent and WTF's front office.  Agent may have issues with future deals with Buffalo.

Beane compliments the agent 2x and makes it a point to say that wasnt where the fault lied. He did however, make it clear he wasnt happy w the way Washington conducted themselves

Did you actually listen to Beane's presser? And did you read the excerpt you quoted?  Beane said "his agent did a great job, Doug Hendrickson and CJ Laboy did a great job"   Right after the part you bolded, Beane said "And this agent did that.  And this agent told the other club it's over."

He's not mad at the agents at all and they won't have any problems in future deals.

The WFT on the other hand.....

Sorry. I didnt scroll that far before my reply. I just read what he wrote and immediately thgt 'uhhh... thats not that i heard' and then upon reading the article read the same thing i heard. Glad to see you pointed it out too in that im not crazy lol

I’m not deflecting anything. Nothing whatsoever. Your original post was poorly written and hard to understand.

You challenged my football knowledge because I didn’t share the same opinion as you. I then countered that we have given up assets for an offensive playmaker before, so the history is there. Diggs has worked out, but there was concern at first in how he would fit. There wasn’t a guarantee, but he has fit in perfectly.

Barkley would have a chance to do the same thing if he came here. He might be one of the most physically gifted players to ever play running back. His combo of size, speed, and vision are RARE. The only concern is the injury history, but anyone can walk outside and sprain an ankle or tear an ACL. It doesn’t mean you are always gonna be hurt.

    Making more sense now?

But dude, there were no caveats such as "if the giants pick up the 7 mill" like someone else mentioned. Its strictly it would be a poor move to allot assets towards a RUNNING BACK making that kind of cash when funds will probably be tight. When you have the QB in place, running backs will get the short end of the assets simply because there isnt a deficiency at the bread and butter of the offense. Thus, the analogy of paying your kick returner qb1 money and expecting the same results as a qb1. This team was stuck doing that dance for years. Now, in general, would an all pro RB find a way to help and compliment this team? Of course! Hell, even the greatest show on turf had Faulk.  However, giving up players/picks for a RB AND having to pay him is cutting off your nose to spite your face. It once again comes full circle to the aforementioned analogy of the difference between giving up assets for a xWR and a RB. Yes, there IS a BIG difference. Your counter to the point was essentially if we give up assets for a WR and then we can do it for an RB. In this instance its as silly as doing it for a kick returner. Thankfully, Beane is smarter than that and if the RB room is deemed to have a missing piece hes smart enough not to go about obtaining it that way.

Hahah…the classic “please try to keep up” line…funny stuff.

Classic "deflection because your in over your your head so you cant defend your original statment" line.... sad stuff

Are you honestly saying you cant see the difference in giving assets up for a game breaking WR like the Bills did and giving up assets for a oft injured RB with 7 mill guaranteed? Because there is 110% a difference there. One makes sense, while the other does not....

  13. 14 hours ago, whorlnut said:

This literally makes no sense, but thanks for playing…

How does that not make sense?! It makes perfect sense! You cant, to a man, discern the difference in giving up assets for a WRx and a RB (implying that they are the same thing) so that is a direct comparison as to how silly you saying that is. Please try and keep up.
