He did this every season here. I'm all honesty did it ever affect his play?

I don’t know. Call me crazy, but a WR skipping his first practice with a new QB isn’t just a bad look, it’s a missed opportunity to develop timing with your QB and learn a new offense. Completely different than Mccaffrey who has worked 3 seasons with the same qb and offense.

Hm. By that yardstick (pardon the pun) Tyreek Hill averaged 13.8 ypc during his time in KC, with a season best (2018) of 17.0. I can see why they got rid of him... unless, perhaps... there's something missing from your metric...? Like every other relevant receiving stat?

Cmon dude.  The question was "how is MVS different than current Bills receivers".

    The answer is clear.

He's a deep threat; the other arent (except for maybe KJ Hamler).

No other Bills receiver averages more than 13 yds per catch, so a career avg of >17 ypc is clearly different than all the rest.  This isnt a subtle finding.

And the reason Hill averages only 13.8 ypc is he's a #1.  A >150 target per year guy.  He gets the short, mid, and long targets.  MVS is only a mid/long guy.

Will MVS be a success for the Bills ?  I have no idea.  But I'm pretty confident that any success he has wont be as a possession reciever.

"A receiver positioned farthest from center on their side of the field which takes their stance on the line of scrimmage, necessary to meet the rule requiring seven players to be lined up on it at the snap."......... That's a cut and paste from Google.

There's plenty of literature on what makes the position unique, and it's relevance to offensive, and defensive schemes. For the Bills, and Josh Allen, after the loss of Diggs, and Davis it should be a priority.

I get that he's been reliable in the post season, and that's not nothing, but what skill set does he have that is unique to the other 6'4" WRs on the roster?

The skill set that averages 17.5 yds per catch for his career, and 20+ yds per catch for his best year.
No other Bills WR comes close to those numbers.

I agree with you. I was only responding to the guy who stated we didn’t trade up in the first round for one of the top 3 WR and he’s ok with it because we ended up with Carter and Bishop instead. I know it would’ve taken more than what we had to get up that high.

If we are still playing this hypothetical though I would’ve been all about trading 28, 60 and one of next years 2nds for Odunze

To be clear, that guy said Bishop and Carter AND still keep next years 1 and both 2s.

I think the "Bills only keep Hamlin on the roster for PR reasons" notion is the dumbest thing in forever.

Hamlin is, was, and has always been a bottom-of-the-roster, depth and special teams guy.

He has remained on the Bills roster because no one more worthy of a roster spot has yet taken one from him. If and when it happens -- and it may very well be this year -- then he'll be cut.

Every team in the NFL has players like this. Unfortunately, because of Hamlin's traumatic medical event, the weekly "will he be active on game day or won't he?" Tweet would get posted on Twitter, it would be treated as some sort of big deal when he wasn't active, and then everyone would jump in and talk about crazy conspiracy theories, how Hamlin was only on the Bills roster because it would look bad if he was cut, blah blah blah.

To add to all of that, you have the Bills fans who are like "Gosh I wish he'd just stop playing for his own good", as if the man can't make his own decisions, and as if he didn't consult with numerous medical professionals.

I wish nothing but the best for Hamlin for the rest of his career and his life, be it here or elsewhere. But all of the discourse surrounding him from Bills fans and NFL fans in general is beyond ridiculous and eyeroll-inducing.

Anyone consider that the Bills may be keeping him as a secret weapon in the fake punt game?

Isabella and Hamler are similar in that they were smallish, fast, early day 2 draft prospects that failed on their original teams which have proven to have been rather poor situations.  There's a good chance that the Bills liked them in their draft years and are thus willing to give them a chance within their organizational walls and see what they might unlock.  There is such a thing as bad luck with injuries and poor environments where one's career begins.  Josh repeats his dad's "bloom where you are planted" mantra but there are some franchises that are asphalt parking lots surrounded by overfilled dumpsters. Little chance to make roots and bloom there.

They are also decent candidates for one or two of the six veteran slots on the practice squad.  Remember the Bills 2022 season when they were running thin in their WR group heading into the playoffs and brought Beasley and Brown back late in the season?  I think Beane might be inclined to do more to prevent that from happening again.

Hamler was both fast and quick in college. Biggest problem he had at psu was drops, which I think knocked him out of the 1st round.

Year 1 at Denver he averaged 19 yds per catch on limited targets.

the cardiac issue he had seemed to be a viral myocarditis, which typically resolves completely.

Biggest issue I see is hamstrings and acl. If he’s recovered from these, he could be the deep threat Bills currently lack.

in any event,, a pretty low risk signing. Cost the Bills no draft capital and little salary cap.

How about I blame the GM/coach. That is the only in the league to not draft a wr in the 1st 3 rounds in 5 years?  They will go down in history and discussed decades later as "Mcdefense" and a failure for having the most talented qb buffalo has ever had and never even sniffed a SB

So, the facts are that Bills spent 1st round draft picks on both a WR and a receiving TE in the past 5 yrs.

You can argue this for the next 5 billion years, but its still a fact.

Well Penn State is hundreds of miles from Pittsburgh so they're really not the same area

And Terry Smith has been the cornerbacks coach at Penn State for years now

Respected guy.. he runs a disciplined system... We're looking for scheme fits late in the draft at defensive back

Penn State and Pittsburgh run DB friendly systems that translate to our system

Hardy graduated from Penn Hills high school, about 10 mile away from downtown Pittsburgh.

    2 drops on 88 targets.

Not a draft guy at all, I don't do mocks or anything but I trust this front office.

I trust Beane and Co and Josh carefully concluded on Coleman and he adds a dimension to Shakir,Kincaid, Samuel that was missing.. we'll see

There is no doubt whatsoever that Keon Coleman has a different skill set thatn the Bills current receivers.

The big concern is whether his skill set transfers to the NFL and whether he can separate from defenders sufficiently for Josh to trust his eyes.

Im optimistic that Josh learns that Coleman is open even when he doesnt have separation, given his ball skills.  Well learn a lot in 6 months.

Keon Coleman is plenty athletic. You don’t play high level D1 basketball and football being a subpar athlete

Ahh, read what I wrote.  Hes' not super athletic.  I dont know what his RAS score is, but I'm sure its <9.  But his film is better than his RAS score might suggest.

As a bunch of others have written, I'm not sure he will get the separation that Josh will trust.  time will tell.

Yaaaay the big guy who runs one route and can’t separate against college defensive backs wooooo

This fits our draft philosophy to a T though, it’s just like Edmunds

    Literally the opposite of Edmunds.
Edmunds was super athletic, RAS score of 9.5, but played worse than his athleticism.
Coleman is not super athletic, but plays better than his athletic traits would suggest.

Diabetes is very manageable for elite athletes with world class athletic trainers. Yikes,  numerous athletes are diabetic that you aren’t aware of. This should mean nothing to his draft position. I would be more concerned that he takes plays off if that is accurate.

I’m not sure I agree that numerous pro athletes have type I diabetes. In fact, I can only think of one—Ron Santo from the last century.

Im sure you can do a google search and come up with a few more. I doubt more than 0.1% of pro athletes have type 1 DM.
