From what I've seen of him play, which admittedly isn't that much, he seems about as average as average gets.
Incorrect. Living in Charlotte I can tell you the dude is very good.
However, he would fit best in a power scheme where he's fed the ball 20 times a game. That is the opposite of our offensive identity

I didn’t think Orlando Brown looked great last yearKc certainly didn’t want him back
Yeah it seems most Chiefs fans aren't too upset about him leaving. Not sure this is something for Bills fans to freak out about

I can give you possibly Allen > Rodgers, with even that being debatable, but who else is better in the East?
Possibly?

I remember watching this at Magruders Pub in Depew. It looked like it was going to be a long day when the Jets jumped out to a 14-0 lead, but the Bills rallied. This was part of the 3 game stretch in 1990 when Buffalo pulled off 4th quarter comebacks and when it really started to feel like the season could be special

Am I the only one who thinks that the most likely way the Jets screw up their franchise is by getting Rodgers? I mean, a quarterback with a great career at a single franchise becomes a malcontent at that franchise until they decide they want to be rid of him. Quarterback gets traded to a team where Hacket is his coach. What could possibly go wrong? It IS possible that Rodgers had an injury last year and, when healed, he will return to form. That is possible. However, there are many who seem that he will revert to MVP form because he has been reunited with Hacket. There is nothing in Hacket's career that makes me think he is an offensive genius who will resuscitate a career. The Jets rebuild to this point reminds me a lot of the Bills. Got ride of expensive malcontents and underperformers, got draft picks and cap room and smartly built a team. The one big difference is that the Jets missed on their quarterback. If they get Rodgers and in so doing lose draft picks and blow their salary cap...and Rodgers doesn't work out, they could destroy their rebuild. The fact that the team that knows him best is eager to get rid of him would give me pause.
Hit the nail on the head here. The media loves talking about Rodgers, and the story involves a NY team, so everyone loses sight of all the things you mention and just succumbs to the hype

So the Jets part with their 1st this year (13th?) and a conditional pick for Rodgers. Yet it might be wiser of them to make the 1st in 2014 as one would think with Rodgers they should pick lower than 13 next season, then the Jets not the best run franchise.
Sure but why would the Packers be ok with getting the Jets pick next year instead of the current one? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense from their perspective, unless they want to have enough ammo in 2024 to take another shot at a qb should Love flop.

I put on my post it was on Twitter, so it probably is leaked from his agent but I would consider it at that point.
For 2 second round picks it's a no brainer lol. I would do it in a heartbeat for 1 third

Probably an unpopular opinion: With all of the injury concerns he showed this season combined with his age I think it's better to let him walk.
Fortunately it seems the Bills agree with this line of thinking. As productive as Poyer has been, you don't spend significant money for a 32 year old player at a non premium position given our limited resources

I have little issue with the number of DL we have
I do have an issues with the fact that under Beane the Buffalo Bills have been one of the three most expensive lines in the NFL in 2019, 2020, 2021, and will be again in 2023.All on top of also investing 2x firsts, 2x seconds, and a third round pick.
The value has been horrendous.
ROI is virtually negative. Basham, Epenesa, Jefferson, Butler, Lotulelei, Oliver, Settle, Lawson, etc. Not one of these guys was/is even close to a difference maker.
It's really discouraging. Our regime has made numerous poor mistakes and misappropriated assets to such an extreme degree in one direction while still having little to show for it.

The Bucs are tanking. They are taking a $35M cap hit on the chin for Brady next season.
Mike Evans will be 30 next year. Last year of his contract. A pre 6/1 trade costs them a massive cap penalty, 21M, with only 2M in savings. Post 6/1, they save $14M and spread it over two seasons.
What does a 30 year old WR without a contract go for on a team that is about to have 2-3 years of pain? A second and a fourth?
Hell no. You are insane to trade valuable picks for a past his prime receiver on the last year of his contract. This can't be serious, right?

Rousseau is definitely not average.
Agreed, but he also hasn't really flashed the immense potential upside of a game changing player. For once I would like the Bills to draft an edge rusher with the actual speed to threaten the corner. Sans Miller, even old man Jerry Hughes is better than what is on our roster in terms of putting immediate heat on the qb

Mahomes had no fumbles or interceptions in a postseason game. Josh has done that once in 8 tries.
Allen had the highest QB rating in history prior to the Bengals game. I guess I can pull useful stats for his postseason career too.
But I'm glad that Mahomes throwing for 180 to wide open receivers has you excited. God what I would give to have Andy Reid as our coach

But does Mahomes turn it over in the red zone?
Seen you mention this a couple times now. Do you think Allen (or any QB) would be turning it over in the red zone if their coaches are scheming guys open by a country mile?

I know he is well regarded, but hasn't the performance of our receivers besides Diggs been considered underwhelming?Coaching would seem to play a part in that imo

It's possible that we could have our best secondary of the "Allen era" this coming season, even w/ losing Poyer.
Tre White was rounding slightly back into form at the end. An offseason & full training camp will hopefully get him back to the player he was before the injury. Meanwhile, Elam was coming on strong, and could take a big 2nd year leap. Johnson in the slot, Hyde back from injury, and hopefully Benford making a successful transition to safety could really turn the secondary into one of the league's best.
An optimistic view at this point but I expect us to at the very least be no worse statistically next year. Definitely agree on Tre - people here have given up on him way too quickly.
However, none of this will matter in the end (i.e. playoffs) if we continue to deploy the same passive, Mickey Mouse scheme that has failed us before

I wholeheartedly disagree with #3. Dorsey is the biggest gamble? On what planet? Continuing to bring back your defensive coordinator whose defense has proven to fail time and time again when it matters is the biggest gamble. The sample size is also 5x as larger than Dorsey and that unit has hoarded all the premium picks. Funny how Buscaglia can make excuses for Frazier, but then condemn Dorsey. Fact is they both probably need to be replaced, but I’m willing to see if the offense can evolve with a 2nd year play caller and more resources allocated to his side of the ball. I have no faith in the defense next year to make the plays when needed. None. And much of that has to do with who’s coordinating and calling the plays. I have years and years and years of history that paints that picture.
Exactly. Joe B is generally pretty good but the section on Frazier was hilariously uncritical. Spare me the inflated regular season numbers his soft defense racks up against sub par competition. Any decent QB we play shreds us and Frazier has shown repeatedly he has no answers
