  1. Back in the day, Frank Reich was the holder. I remember this as a discussion point during the comeback game, as Houston had their punter as the holder, and when he bobbled the snap, he spazzed and Houston lost a FG opportunity. The announcer commented that Frank Reich, as Bills holder, had better hands, and also better ability to react to a busted play. Normally, the punter makes sense, as he and the kicker have more practice time together. However, with our unprecedented turnover at punter this year (4!!!), maybe having the stability of a backup QB would be better....uh based on how we've handled the backup QB position this year, never mind.
  2. Before a big Dolphin game Ralph was walking among the players during warmups, Thurman was so pumped up he was screaming in Ralph's face and gave him such hard handslaps it's a miracle Ralph didn't keel over. Then Thurman went out and dominated the game. Loved his enthusiasm for the game
  3. Guys, I didn't say Cali QBs are worthless overall. I'm just saying they've never worked out HERE.
  4. Once is a data point, twice is a trend, and three times is a meaningful statistic. So with that in mind--Trent Edwards, JP Losman, Rob Johnson. And just for fun, throw in Matt Cassell and Vince Ferragamo All QBs either raised or educated (or both) in Cali, and all failures with The Bills. I don't know if it's the weather, the mentality here (or there), the over-rating that comes with being a California star, or something else, but please no more West Coast flops. You have to go back to Jack Kemp, 50 years, to find a Cali born & educated QB who had success here. I have nothing against Darnold and Rosen except their places of birth and education, so please, Mr. Beane, give up 2 #1s, a #2, and a #3 to go ensure we get Baker with the 2nd pick. Or worst case, catch Josh Allen, (Fresno area born, but at least he went to Wyoming) after he falls past the 6th spot
  5. So for 1 day, at least, we have a competent backup for Shady.

  6. When my oldest child (a daughter) graduated from college and was living with her fiancee in Ohio, she said the thing she missed most about home was Sunday afternoons watching Bills games with me and her 3 siblings, and learning all kinds of new words from me. A few weeks before her wedding . she came home for a weekend, and asked if we could get matching tattoos to help her remember all those Sundays together. What dad would say no to that? So we got matching charging Buffalo tattoos on our ankles, then she surprised me with tix to that weekend's Bills game. And wouldn't you know--it was the Drayton Florence game, where Fitzy outdueled Brady. An awesome memory we still talk about . The only downer to the whole event was that her husband is a big Jet fan!! Why??
  7. OK, I can obsess about minutiae when it comes to the Bills, but I'm thinking Steve Wilks' hiring as HC in Zona hurts us. He knows, has a relationship with, and will likely pursue some of the same Carolina talent base McD might, specifically our hoped-for DT Star Lotulelei. If nothing else, it may exacerbate any bidding war for him. Anyone else concerned that another Carolina DC is now a HC?
  8. IS there any thought being given to a game watch at New Era Sunday? Put the game on the big screen, charge $10 admission (to be donated to charity) and the Bills still make $$ on reduced parking and full price concessions. You can't tell me they wouldn't easily get 20,000 of us diehards there to watch and celebrate together. Is there any league rule prohibiting this? How do we make this a reality?
  9. Thanks for the witless time waste doofus. Wanna redeem yourself...go donate to Andy Dalton charity
  10. Not mentioned at all was the solid contributions of special teams today. Haus-money was his usual reliable self on FGs, and put his kickoffs deep. (If he doesn't hit that 56 yarder, the end game looks very different.) Punt coverage was outstanding, and Schmidty's directional punting late was effective. Brandon routinely got 10-15 yards every punt return. And finally, we stopped trying to take kickoffs out of the endzone, andf got safe starts from the 25 rather than inside our 15. I would estimate that special teams netted 90-100 yards for us in field position today on return differential. So maybe it shows that a coach (Crossman) can learn and improve when given time.
  11. Seriously, does he block for the run? What's his rep as a team guy? I assume McBeane believe he'll be a great fit, but do we have any other knowledge to share here?
  12. Wow, that was a better and more heartwarming review than anything I read in any paper or journal. Thanks. I have 4 grown kids all spread out who missed the Glory Years, but 3 of them were at Bills Bars in their new towns--Atlanta, Chicago, and even Dayton--and sharing the game with them on our text chain was as wonderful as watching in person on the couch when they were little. The cool thing is I really think McD gets it. He gets us.
