  1. Yeah, I figured that out... Doesn't change the fact that teams pay their best players, not theee best players. Just look at how many QBs make more than Josh.
  2. Receivers don't play in a vacuum. Their performance is 100% tied to the play of the rest of their team. Bad WR AAV probably has high correlation to bad QB play. Chicken or the egg As for the Bills AAV, that's not exactly fair as none of the guys on the bills roster has gotten #1 or even #2 wr target share...of course their AAV would be suppressed. I'd bet money that the chiefs WR AAV at the start of 2023 was worse.
  3. I see, that's how this is going to go? Your logic is only true so long as it works for you? Flat out, is Josh Allen better than Patrick Mahomes? If the answer is yes, then we are underperforming. If the answer is no, then perhaps changing the coach is just rearranging deck chairs on the titanic. Bottom line is this. you said that any coach can win with JA because he is a great QB. Clearly, how good your QB is has a big influence on winning games in your mind. So, if that is true...wouldn't it stand to reason that if a QB is BETTER than Josh Allen, it would be even easier to win?
  4. There probably isn't a right answer. Either option is a risk. I get why people want to replace McD. In their minds, it can't really get worse with JA as our QB. Im not sure I agree, but I get that mindset. If we hadn't been so close (IMO, the Bills are the second best team this decade), I'd be more apt to move on.
  5. Rivers had 309 yards passing on 46 attempts (6.7 ypa). They also held Jonathan Taylor below 4 ypc. The colts had 10 points in the 4th quarter. They struggled to get stops late because of the pass rush. The next year they drafted two DE in the first two rounds.
  6. Could it work? Maybe. Best case is the new coach provides enough of a spark to get the team over the hump and beat KC/Cinn and maybe win a SB. Maybe even establishes a new dynasty. But that's probably unlikely. More likely, we change coaches and in three years the team sucks. Maybe we win a SB, maybe we don't. Lots of coaches can win a playoff game with Josh Allen, but not a lot win double digit games every year. Is that really a true statement? Burrow and Mahomes crushed it, but it did fine against the Colts and Miami and crushed the Patriots and Ravens.
  7. Nothing is 100%. The better QB doesn't win 100% of the time, just most of the time. So, just keep doing what we are doing and hope we get lucky.
  8. Ah, moving the goalposts...nice And no, it isn't my take...that's YOUR take. You are the one that keeps telling me that anybody can win with Josh Allen. Why is that only the case for Josh Allen? Maybe Reid and Taylor are trash, too and they only win because of Mahomes and Burrow. Certainly looks like that was the case for Belichick. So maybe it IS all about the QB. And our QB can't beat Burrow and Mahomes.
  9. To be fair, everyone says that the only reason the Bills win is Josh Allen. That QB is the reason you win. If that is true, then logically, if you lose it is because the other team had a better QB. Has he really had better receivers, though? I mean, last year his number one receiver was a second round rookie. Diggs >>> their whole receiving core, on paper. And sure, the Bengals have had a better receiving core...but their Oline is trash.
  10. Signature coaching win? Are you serious? Coaches are coaches. What, exactly, do you think a HC can do to "win" a game? A HC, at its core, is a management job.
  11. He has beaten Mahomes in the playoffs? The only other guy to do it is Tom Brady...
  12. I think there is a little bit TOO MUCH put on Josh Allen on these boards. If it is truly all about the quarterback, then you shouldn't even be mad. Josh Allen (you know, not the Bills) has lost to Mahomes and Burrow since he became JOSH ALLEN. You could make an argument that both of those guys are as good or better. If it is all about the quarterback, then maybe the problem is the Chiefs and Bengals have a better one. Maybe it's not that McDermott isn't better than Reid...it's that Josh isn't better than Pat and we need to start over at QB if we are ever gonna win.
  13. Not one stat? Really? Over the last 5 years, his team has the second best record in football, the third most points per game AND the lowest opponents points per game...which means the best point differential in the NFL. Over the last 4 years, he has lost to the Chiefs three times in the playoffs. Clearly they are a problem in the post-season for whatever reason. But to be fair, 2021 we should have won. This year injuries played a huge factor. 2020, the Chiefs were a better team. Maybe if we fire McDermott, it gets us over the hump and we win a SB. But I would also bet money that whatever coach we bring in won't be as successful long term. The longer they are here and implement their processes, my guess is they are worse than McDermott...I mean, it would be hard not to be.
  14. Basketball and football aren't really the same thing, though...you can teach a new basketball system in a few weeks. Same with hockey and even baseball. I remember an interview with Tom Brady where he said he was super grateful he wasn't Alex Smith and had the same coordinators early in his career. It allowed him to keep building and even go back to old playbooks if they needed something from the well for an opponent. Not to mention all the roster turnover with a new coach.
  15. DJ Chark, that's your answer? Was he gonna play over Gabe or on Special teams? He put up 35 catches as their #1 WR. They tried. He wanted too much money.
  16. Let me ask you a different question...do you think the Ravens should fire John Harbaugh? Should the Steelers fire Mike Tomlin? In general, should only OCs be head coaches? I get they have both won SBs, but they were both over a decade ago. I remember when I was in college, people said the same things about Bill Cowher that we are saying now. And fans in NE said the same about BB when he lost to Rex and the Jets. Would you rather be the Ravens over the last 10 years, or the Bucaneers? We are so outcome focused sometimes we can't see the forest for the trees.
  17. Three spots. Vikings took him at 23. So you have to go to 22. Which was also a WR. So was 21 so was 20. So to trade to one of those spots, the team trading out would have had to been ok missing the WR run. That's not a guarantee. Definitely would have cost alot more than a 4th. So trading Kincaid and a second or third for Addison and a 4th is your idea for this team? I'd probably take Kincaid straight up.
  18. Sean Mcdermott is the head coach. He picks the staff. He hired Daboll and Dorsey, who clearly did have an impact on JA. He also sets the agenda from the top and I am sure had quite a bit of influence on the offense and how it generally looks. He also leads the team and I am sure he is ultimately the only guy that JA is accountable to. As for the defense, they've only ever lost to peak Watson, Mahomes, and Burrow. They crushed Lamar and the Ravens the year Lamar was all world and probably could have shut out the patriots in the perfect game if it wasn't garbage time. I don't really hold the Bengals against them. It was a tough season and the bengals were playing mad. They are also clearly a bad matchup for us. As for the Chiefs...it's tough to watch. I think they just find another gear in the playoffs.
  19. Jordan Addison was drafted before their pick AND they would have missed out on Kincaid. How is that a realistic scenario?
  20. Do you know what I think is hilarious... People paint McD as both a control freak AND a completely hands off idiot who doesn't know anything about offense. If we run too much, it's McDermott's fault. If we throw 60 times, McDermott has nothing to do with it. It's silly. 100% confirmation bias. People don't like him so he gets all the blame and zero credit.
  21. Over AJ McCarron and Rookie JA. He benched Peterman after one week. Also, Peterman is still in the NFL.
  22. Why does everyone say Beane doesn't prioritize WR? Beane has been here since 2018. That year, he drafted JA. In 2019, he drafted Ed Oliver at 9. The top WR drafted that year wasn't taken until the 20s. In hindsight, maybe AJ brown could have been the pick but Im not gonna hold that against him. They did miss on Cody Ford in Rd 2 when they could have taken one of several future pro bowl WR...but by the time they picked again in the third, all those guys were gone. They DID draft a decent RB and TE in that Round, though. Then they signed Beasley and Brown to decent deals...probably the best they could do with JA going into his second year. In 2020, they traded their first round pick for Stefon Diggs. Love him or hate him, he was a clear #1 wr in Buffalo for 3.5 seasons (and maybe top 5 in the NFL at points). Then they still drafted two WR in the draft on top of that, including Gabe Davis. Unless you have them taking JJ or Tee Higgins instead of trading for Diggs, GD was the best WR in that draft at any of their picks. In 2021, they signed Sanders to replace Brown. I guess Nico Collins in the 3rd and St Brown in the 4th could be considered "misses" but that's a stretch to me. And to be fair, to take St Brown they would have not gotten Spencer Brown. In 2022, we all thought Gabe was gonna be a star. We also grabbed Shakir, who outside of maybe Christian Watson and George Pickens is arguably the best non-first rounder from that draft. In 2023, they took Kincaid. I guess they could have taken Tank Dell instead of Torrence...or hit on Nicua like the Rams...but I'd love to know how they could have done that draft better. Not gonna rehash 2024. So please, can somebody tell me SPECIFICALLY who they should have drafted or signed at WR? Not just say they ignored it. Because to me it looks like it was a huge focus and they did a decent job at it. Granted, they weren't the Bengals but the Bengals had to suck to get Higgins and Chase and now they cant afford it.
  23. In Alex Smith's first 7 seasons he had 6 different OCs. When Harbaugh and Roman arrived in SF, he pretty much became the guy he was in KC...an excellent game manager. Reid didn't make him, dude was a #1 overall pick who suffered for years on a poorly run team. Everyone wants to give Reid credit for elevating his QBs, while slamming McD for holding his QB back...All the while, they forget that Mcnabb, Smith and Mahomes were ALL better prospects than JA coming out. It's clear that McD is in a no win position unless he wins a SB. A generational QB that every talking head thought was a bust and the second best record in the NFL the last 5 years...zero credit. It's a joke.
  24. Ok, let's try something here... Lets assume the Bills throw the ball ~550 times this year, and the target breakdown is something like: Cook - 50 Shakir - 80 Samuel - 80 Coleman - 70 Knox - 50 Kincaid - 120 MVS - 50 Everyone else - 50 And everyone is around the same ypt as last season Cook - 8.2 (410) Shakir - 13.6 (led NFL among qualifiers) (1088) Samuel - 6.7 (536) Coleman - 9.2 (this was Gabe's) (644) Knox - 5.2 (260) Kincaid - 7.4 (888) MVS - 7.5 (375) Everyone else - 7 (350) That puts Josh at 4,551 yards passing (8.2 ypa), which would be a career high on what is also his lowest attempts since 2019. Even if you see regression from Shakir and Coleman, that would likely be propped up by some positive regression from MVS (8.5 in 2022) Knox (8.0 in 2022) and Samuel (7.1 in 2022 and 8.8 in 2020 under Joe Brady) I think a lot of you are underrating just how inefficient Diggs was last season with his targets. He was in line with a TE, not a #1 WR.
