What owner would fire a HC mid season that has gone to 9 SB and win 6 in the last 23 years? Now would he be in outages to retire at the end of the season? Yes but definitely not fired half way threw it even if they are 1-7 which they probably will be.

I'm sure that among the 31 billionaires who own all but one NFL team (Green Bay), there's at least one who would do it just because he can.   I'm not familiar with NFL owners.  I know the names of only 5: Terry Pegula, Bob Kraft, Jerry Jones, Mark Davis, and Bob Irsay.

lol it actually is a play on joke on a song by Pete Seeger "Where Have All The Flowers Gone". Long story short it is an anti war song, but in this context it fit for the title.

You must be almost as old as me!  I think that most of the posters here aren't old enough to have any idea of the folk music movement that swept popular music in the late 1950s and early 1960s.

Chiefs didn’t scored many points and are still figuring out their offense. But at no point in that game did it looked like Denver had a chance. When KC went up 10-0 it was done. Meanwhile, the Bills gave me and the rest of the fanbase a heart attack right up to literally the last second of the game. I don’t think the two performances were similar at all.

Let’s hope Bills can muster up the ability to give us a stress free win against the Pats this week.

In previous years, they might very well have hung a 40 burger on the hapless Broncos.

I've heard that playing the week directly after the London game has also had issues for teams.  It's why the NFL apparently offers all teams playing in London a bye he next week.

According to the NFLN Insiders, since teams could choose to have a bye or play a game after returning from Europe, the teams that played the week after coming back from Europe have won 9 out of 13 games.

Miami and SF get it: you need to load up your offense with weapons instead of just relying on the QB

The Niners lost to the Chiefs in 2020, 31-20.   That's the last time they went to the Super Bowl, and most of their offensive weapons have been added since then.   More to the point, the Niners not only have lots of offensive weapons, they also have a seriously good defense with guys like Bosa and Warner.

The Carp haven't been to the Super Bowl since 1985.

The Chiefs and Eagles have been to the Super Bowl 5 times in the last 6 Super Bowls.  KC sacrificed some offensive firepower in order to bulk up their OL and defense after getting smacked by Tampa Bay in 2021.  Philadelphia has always had great offensive and defensive lines, and that's been the key to their success for more than a decade.  The Bills have been trying to model themselves like KC and Philly:  investing cap space and draft capital in the defense and this past year, the offensive line.

I think some of it can be chalked up to the fact that it was one of those weekends: Cincy, Buffalo, KC, Philly, and SF (five of the league's six best teams; the other is Miami) all failed to score 20 points. Cincy should have lost, SF and Philly did lose (due in part to stupidly aggressive play-calling on their final possession), and KC failed to get 20 points at home against a historically bad Denver defense. Just a weird early-part-of the-midseason weekend.

I think it was the rebellion of the bottom feeders.   The two undefeated teams lost to teams playing back-up QBs!  The Chiefs and Bills struggled against teams that shouldn't have had a prayer to win.  Finally, the Seahawks had looked a whole lot better than the Bengals this season.

Just the NFL in 2023. Defenses have fought back a bit. Other than Miami no offense really looks like it is firing to me.

The Carp look good beating up on bottom feeders, but the Bills smacked them around.   They may not look so good against the Eagles.

It doesn't mean they made the right choice.  The choice to leave on Thursday isn't looking so good.  Maybe they just messed up the entire London thing.

Harbaugh brought the Ravens to London early (Tuesday I think) specifically because the Ravens lost so badly the last time they played in London.   I think we'll see more teams start coming earlier in the future.

London has nothing to do with last nights ugly game.

The Bills played poorly. Full stop.

Something is wrong with this team and it clearly shows. I bet we lose to NE. If so, heads better roll!

I hope we beat them bad but I just don't have any confidence in this team anymore.

Actually, London had a lot to do with how poorly the Bills played last night IMO.  Both Knox and Kincaid were "questionable" for the entire week because of injuries they suffered in the London game because the Bills have morphed from a team that seldom used 2 TE sets to one that goes primarily with 2 TEs.  Knox was able to play, but Kincaid is still in concussion protocol, which limited how effective the Bills could be in 2 TE sets since their #3 TE is Quinton Morris who has caught all of 10 passes in his 2 year NFL career.  Now, Morris did catch the game winning TD, but Morris isn't Kincaid, and who knows how well Knox could catch the ball with a bad wrist?

God, people on here are young. Probably the Exorcist. Was 16 in 1973.HBO came on cable in 75 or 76. Saw Blazing Saddles (74) and then suggested that my parents see it. Went to see it again with them.

HBO went off the air at about 1AM. International Cable would show a hard R-rated  movie or two on that channel and then a "soft" X at about 4 AM.  We were already over 18, got some  beer and watch them at my friend's house. Years later confirmed this with my neighbor who worked for International Cab le back then.

I got you beat by 7 years.   😃   That was pre-cable, I lived in the country outside a really small town, and my parents were pretty strict, so I didn't see anything that wasn't fit for broadcast tv until I was old enough to go to the movies with my friends (without my dad having to drop me off).  I can't remember the first R movie that I saw, but the first X rated movie that I saw was Midnight Cowboy in 1969 when I was in college (the movie theater in my home town would never have shown an X rated movie.  It was a different world back then.).

    Our pass rush is insane

Did you think we were going to win every game?

If you think the Bills can't move on from McDermott, just remember the Eagles decided to move on from Andy Reid and he took them to the NFCCG a few times. So, it can happen. The Eagles eventually won a Super Bowl after Reid left.

LOL.   If EVER there was a perfect example of how it's better for a team to be lucky than good, it's the Eagles Super Bowl win, starting with giving control of personnel to Howie Roseman after they fired Chip Kelly in 2015.    All the "heroes" of that Super Bowl season didn't age particularly well.  Carson Wentz regressed from where he was in 2017.  Nick Foles just fell back to his level as a career backup QB.  Neither Doug Pedersen nor Frank Reich turned out to be the geniuses they appeared to be in February, 2018.

BTW, before the Reid won his first SB, the rap on him was that he couldn't win big games, especially in the playoffs.

The way this offense can go from running like a sports car to a dump truck in 7 days is baffling.  At some point the roller coaster needs to stop.  We have all seen how great this team can be.  We only get so many chances with Allen at the helm.  Beane has to be at least pondering the idea of coaching being the issue.  Also is there an issue with this teams conditioning?  Lots of injuries the past 2-3 years.

I couldn't decide if this gem deserved a vomit, an eyeroll or a haha, so I did all three:  🤮   🙄  🤣

He’s not a young journeyman coach - he’s a first ballot Hall of Famer. If Kraft wants him to step down, it’ll be after a private meeting in which Belichick announces his decision to retire.
It can be argued that BB is an average coach without Brady, but regardless, he’s got 8 championship rings as coach and DC. HOF coach in NFL for 45 years isn’t getting fired.

Some other owner might fire Belichick but not Bob Kraft.

Once Von is full go we’ll have Rousseau, Miller, Floyd, Lawson, and Jonathan. Jonathan has shown promise.

Epenesa’s value won’t be any higher. He’s playing good football. The other option is extending him to pair with Rousseau in the future.

With the injuries Epenesa could bring back a solid player to help at CB or LB.

They do need to make sure they have an O-line around their new Franchise QB so they don't Andrew Luck another one.

The Colts already have a pretty good OL as Zach Moss' success in Indy shows.  Quenton Nelson is a 3 time All Pro and 4 time Pro Bowler at LG.   Their other OLers are competent.

What this tells me is Miami knows their defense is a disaster and can’t be fixed in one season. So, they are loading up on offense and going to try and win by just pouring on points every weekend. They will win a lot of games but get bounced by anyone who slows down their offense.

That's seems to be their thinking ... if Tua can stay healthy behind their OL.

  14. 1 minute ago, TheBrownBear said:

I'm sure they're turning over those stones too.  Claypool COULD provide them with the big target redzone threat and 50/50 deep ball guy that they're currently missing.  I'm not saying it's a great move (though I suppose it could turn into a good one), just that it's not completely illogical or useless to the Fins.

The Fins have cap issues, and adding Claypool isn't going to help enough to win now to justify however little he costs the Fins against the cap.  They also put Armstead on IR to make room for Claypool.   If the Fins do find an OLer -- or Armstead heals up and comes back in four games -- what do they do with Claypool?   It's just a trade to make a trade for Miami.

  15. 40 minutes ago, FrenchConnection said:

People get frustrated (not me, but others on here) because the Fins are always taking swings. The trade for Hill worked out. The trade for Chubb last year at the deadline has not. But they are in a win-now mode and a lot of people would like to trade draft capital to take a swing for this year.

If the Fins are truly in win-now mode, they'd be hustling to find better OLers and/or LBS and DBs not adding an extraneous WR.

If y'all really don't care about Taylor Swift, why does mention of her prompt you to post that you don't "give two craps" about her like the bell prompted Pavlov's dogs to salivate?
