The first play of the 2nd qtr, Spillane had a clear run at cook in the backfield and smacked him dead on.  Cook bounced off of him and got 4 yards that he shouldn’t have had…..IF he didn’t have sufficient contract balance.  That’s what breaking tackles is 90% of the time.

Spillane didn’t really attempt to wrap him up….and if he did, cook probably would’ve been tackled….just as the majority of the nfl RBs would’ve been.

He’s not going to be a grinder that consistently moves the pile because of his physical makeup….but his YPC tells us that’s he’s a legit starting RB that the opposition will have to start paying more attention to.  Teams wanting to cover 2 shell us to death are going to have to deal with him and Kincaid.

    100% agree

Ah so broken tackles only count if they are good tackles? Interesting. Wonder how many NFL running backs are routinely breaking out of good tackles?

You know it is a very slippery slope as to what is considered a tackle attempt and what isnt. Maybe you could call that a tackle attempt. My point being is, Cook is not going to break out of really GOOD tackle attempts like many other HB's can. This is not a thing against Cook. Cook is a different player. and my main point was, There is a huge difference between yards after contact and a broken tackle.

A HB Runs into his own line and a DE has his hands on him a split second? is this a tackle attempt? or is this yards after contact?

So I think there is a huge difference between "yards after contact" and "breaking tackles"

(Video of him breaking a tackle on a 37-yard run.)

When I think of breaking tackles. I think of arms around or near the waist.. getting out of a secured foot lock for more yards.

The first real tackle attempt was a horrible one. he clipped the one leg and I don't know if I would categorize that as "breaking a tackle.

He was never touched at the LOS. and after the poor ankle tackle try he was never touched again till he got tackled.

there is one thing for sure though. as long as he has that speed and shiftiness in him.. he will be a special player.

I still think right now this is a pass first league and that is why HB's are suffering with low contracts... but things go in circles.. If Buffalo can sustain this kind of running game that IS NOT coming from JA? Then this offense will jump into a whole new level.

It's not DPI if the ball is uncatchable folks.  If the ball was on target, DPI all day long.

I'm guessing they just continued with their RB rotation.

Or maybe limiting wear and tear on the older more physical runners that they'll need down the road?

Or maybe rewarding Cook for responding to good coaching this week (Hey James, quit dicking around and get N/S)?

Whatever the case, it might provide some insight to how they view any pecking order (i.e. there is none)

I was more confused as to why Cook was in for our last drive. Isn’t this why we have Murray and Harris for?

The snaps Cook had, the better he got. My theory is that they simply wanted to give Cook more reps. It was a break out game for Cook at what better way to appreciate him is to keep him out there... Cooking. Doing what he loves to do.

7.2 yards a Carry. Right to the end of the game on 17 Caries. I mean, how many more break out runs would the dude of had if he had 25 caries?

You all know that nasty wind/rain wind/snow game will be right around the corner.

    Remember that one?

    Lol

I think its funny how you guys think in one draft and 2 games, that Payton is to have everything fixed.

Now I ask you, Did you expect McD to have everything fixed by game 2 Tyrod Taylor?

Judge the man by his cover... but the book has yet to be written.

I am not saying we should have gotten him or not.. I am just saying it is just as stupid to suggest that he will not fix things...

    Time will tell...

  7. A team is more dangerous with Balance than a team with just high passing yards.

I discussed this off season that I wanted to see closer to 60/40 in pass/Rush  37 Pass/ 35 rushing.. damn near 50/50 yes? I DARE to say this kind of balance makes one of the most dangerous teams in the NFL IF... we can keep this up. IF by end of season tis finishes at 70% pass 30% rush with our running back the best rusher? I will argue we will be the hardest to play against in the league.  I got trampled on for saying this..

You want to play 2 deep zone against us? THANKYOU.. we will just rush it down your throat... You want to throw more in the box? Our WR's and TE's will say THANK YOU!

I also got argue that Passing the ball as much as we did to Diggs Shortens the field. I got slammed for this also. You throw to who is OPEN.. If you think Diggs is god and open every play then good for you. Today was the Gabe Davis show. Next week it might be the Dalton Kincaid Show (god I hope so)  Good QB's take advantage of their best weapon... JA to Diggs.. Mahomes to Kelse.. But I will argue, look at how much Mahomes is struggling this year even with Kelse back.

You throw to the easy open player.... Who ever that is, gets the best stats of the day... That makes you more dangerous.  We put the NFL on notice... they got lots of tape on us to try and figure us out...

Doom and gloom to... Holy ****** this team is doing things.. Welcome to Sports Message Boards.

  8. Defensive holdings that should of gotten called.

    Tripping.

    Late Hits

JA's head bounce off the turf on one of them.

JA's Head bounce off a helmet on another

Lack of Penalties called on the other side of the ball.

Leaves me to just one question..

Who got paid after that Monday night game.

Most of the top end QB's low on total yards...

    We know Vegas got paid.

Also see:  if you put even .0000000003% of that loss on Diggs you are incorrect.

I said the Digges effect. Was Diggs open on any of those throws past 20 yards? UH no...

It is in JA head that he has to throw to Diggs all the time. That is an issue.

Dorsey play calling is a joke

and by the way.. how many times did we have to run the ball right in the teeth of the lion down the Gut... Do you not know that the middle of that D line is good?

    McD reverting to 2 zone..

    Pukes..
