Tom Brady would be so much easier to hate if he was more of a douche bag. Even his comment about this was respectful. Dang it Tom brady

I watched TB at the SB Monday media night.  He has sense of humor and seems quite level-headed.  He can't help if if he just happens to be the greatest of all time, and happens to be in the Bills division.   I must re-evaluate my opinion of him.

Excellent post...people forget a QB needs receivers in MOST cases.  Very few and rare QBs can mainstain consistency when the receiver core keeps getting worse to the point it was awful.

Dont forget he had 3 different OCs and 2 HCs over that span too.

Alos McCoy missed some time, most his OL, Clay, he dealt with his own dinged up injuries after frequently getting crushed behind a terrrible pass blocking OL.

TT has his flaws, but the people who hate him always over look the significant amount of challenges put in front of him in his first 3 years starting that would have hurt just about any QB in the NFL.

Many good points in an attempt at revision of TT as an NFL QB.  I would like to see the data on throwing accuracy over the 3 years.  My eyes tell me that he missed more open receivers than most.  I'm sure the receivers would agree.  The good QBs find and hit open receivers.

I think the Bills Wire draft is more like Plan D.

    Plan A sign FA (Cousins)

Plan B trade for (Smith, Keenum, Luck) etc.

Plan C trade up for the guy you like (Rosen, Mayfield) etc.

Plan D Tyrod, with a project draft like (White)

Plan Z start Nate Peterman, release TT and go with Savior Peterman plan

The reason I think McBeane like plan A and B is they can then retain draft capital to restock SOME positional needs. They will of course have to give a higher pick up depending on who you're trading for.

Cousins is definitely Plan A b/c we make a run at the trophy

Plan B is Smith or Bridgewater and we get to playoffs

Plan C is Bradford and maybe get to playoffs

Plan D is  trade this year's 1s and next year's 1 to get Rosen, Allen, Mayfield, Darnold, etc and miss the playoffs by having a team that looks like the Colts

Plan No Way is stay put with TT and/or NP without one of Plans A,B,C or D.

  4. The Jags gave the Pats all they can handle.  How do we compare to the Jags?  Well, we lost to them 10-3.  Does that mean we're close to being better than them?  I don't think so.  Others may disagree.  I think our offense compares favorably.  Our defense is miles behind.  So if we're going to beat Pats, then we must model our D after the Jags, and improve our offense with Cousins.  If Jags had Cousins, they beat Pats.  If we get anyone other than Cousins, then the status quo doesn't change.  We need someone who can match Brady, otherwise we'll continue to play 2nd or 3rd fiddle.

You think that the Bills would still be playing if Blake Bortles or Nick Foles was our QB?!? The Bills were a minus 57 in point differential!! Do you think that Blake Bortles’ turnovers would have improved that?!? Of course not!!

The Bills MADE the playoffs because they were able to execute in close games and. Eat the teams that they should. Blake Bortles won because his team is loaded.

Ok, you're partly right KJ.  I think those 3 guys would've scored 10+ against the Jags.  We would've lost the next one against Brady;  however, Cousins could beat those bean town bums.  We need someone who gives us a chance to do that, otherwise, we might as well as get EJ or Cordell or Fitz.

We are a 12-4 team in 2017 with Cousins instead of Taylor.  How can anyone not like that?  And thats with having a bare cupboard most the year at WR due to trades and injuries.

We won 9 with TT, safe to say we still win all those 9 games.  We definitely win the Car, Cincy and Charger game with Cousins as the QB.  Thats 12 wins right there, not to mention both NE games were winnable as well as the Jets game.  And we definitely win the Jax game with Cousins.

We would be a 12 win team that would have been at least in the 2nd round of the playoffs with 2 first round picks, 2 second round picks, and extra picks in the other rounds of the draft too.  How can anyone be down on that scenario?

THREE OF THE FINAL 4 QB's IN THE PLAYOFFS ARE:  Borltes, Keenum, and Foles.  Cousins is substantially better than all 3.  For anyone to sit back and think Cousins isnt good enough just because he isnt a top 5 QB in the NFL is crazy.  You dont have to be "special"...those guys are rare...if we wait for a "special" QB we wont win for a long time.  The last "special" QB we had failed to deliver a SB despite playing on a roster full of talent and HOF players on both sides of the ball.

Screw "Special"...give us good to very good coupled with all those draft picks and we are a VERY dangerous team.

    GIVE ME COUSINS!

Heck, if we would've had any of those 3 dudes, we'd still be playing.  I agree with your point that we can wait for special.  Cousins is better than most, and he'll be better still with Shady, and Benjamin, and Clay.  If both Shanahans thought he was good, that's good enough for this Ga boy.

    Interesting take.

With even below-average QB play this season, the Bills probably win 2 more games and would still be playing this weekend.

Yes, I agree with Dalton, Smith, Bridgewater, (fill in with 20 other names), we would've played one more game, and lost to Brady (unless the fill in name was Brees, Ben, Ryan, Rivers, Cousins, Newton, Wilson, etc).

    For what it’s worth...

Ive watched 75% or so of the skins games the last 10 years, I know a person with direct connections with the Skins front office (who agrees it is a mess and the only one with a clue was forced out in a power struggle, for being an “alcoholic” which could be said for many of those still running things), the owner hasn’t a clue and hires mostly yes men (should sound familiar), while meddling with things he shouldn’t. The organization is a mess and has been for years.

Everyone I know who I consider to football literate down here thinks Cousins is the only reason they make the playoffs, win 9,8,8 games instead of 5/6, 4/5, 4 games. I won’t get into injuries, drops and such...

I agree 100% he is not a top 5 guy and borderline top 10 is fair, IMO he’s raised that franchise out of drafting top 10 the last 3 years.

I have no idea if Cousins would come to Buffalo, what I know of him, he’d fit right in with the City and coaching staff, and signing him and using the draft to team build around him is the best long term path to being legitimate Super Bowl contenders that I see.

Living in the Northern VA, I agree with P51.  Cousins would fit with Bills.  Real good guy and a real QB.  Both Shanahans thought he was the real deal which I think is good enough for me.  Of all the options that he'll have, I doubt he'll end up in Bflo.

Not at all. But utilizing the picks we have with the people in charge of making those picks, I don't expect to be 7-9 till the cows come home. If we gave up what most people are saying to get a guy I think we end up 7-9 for a few more years. That's where I'm coming from. I think with Keenum, Bridgewater, Cousins or Smith we can move on and get better quicker. I will say if McBeane thought it was worth it I would be onboard with it. I'd be nervous but willing to accept it. When TBD Wall members suggest it, I'm putting the brakes on.

Those guys are smarter than most, I hope, but I'm going to be real disappointed in the process if we have an average QB at the first game.  We have the draft capital to do something epic for the first time since the Biscuit draft.

And who would that be?? Remember when Mike Ditka thought Ricky Williams was the answer and gave up all his picks. Or when the Vikings thought that with Herschel Walker and the Cowboys received all those draft picks and drafted the "big 3". I trust Beane and McDermott to do their due diligence. I TRUST THE PROCESS!!

Suppose the process is throwing in the kitchen sink to get the most important position on the field??

NO!! Too many holes to fill. This is where the scouts make their money. There will be talented/capable QBs in this draft. Find said QB. Get a "bridge" QB, draft a NFL caliber QB, and have someone teach this guy the game a la Case Keenum/Jimmy Garropolo.

Sky:  How has that worked for us so far??  We need to throw in the kitchen sink and get a winner.

After a quick perusal of the roster, Adolphus Washington has the biggest name, though there are bigger names in the league, to be certain, especially if you count apostrophes and hyphens.  They didn't draft him, so I could see him being traded.

I think Malachi Dupree has the coolest name.  I would trade names with him... now that I'm not in high school and the risk of getting massacred for it is relatively low.

Shamarko is a pretty cool name, too.

    pure genius

IN theory I would, but in reality it may take a lot to move up. I'd be ok with giving up both 1st rd picks this year and maybe a second as well. That probably doesn't get it done, though.

I would go with our 2 firsts, next year's second, and any other Bills player they want, maybe any other 2 Bills they want  If it's the right guy, go for broke.  A franchise QB covers up many of the other holes.
