I think the Bills should pretty much convert this draft into the #2 pick, and immediately start the QB selected. Deal whatever is needed to avoid giving up the 2019 first. Leave the team with many holes in important spots with and a rookie QB to struggle, post a poor record, and use the 2019 draft to shore up talent at the most needed positions, potentially with a blockbuster trade down of our own. From that point, we will ideally have an up-and-coming QB and a ton of cap space with some good young players to develop.

#21, #22, #53, #56, #65, Glenn, 2019 3rd, all for #2. Stay quiet in free agency this year, let young players start over veterans.

SO it better be Lamar who has the wheels to run for his life.

End of the day,  we are not winning the Super Bowl next season.  The Bills need to use this season and picks to get their franchise QB,  time is right and avoiding this will just make things harder down the road.  This is a passing league,  ground and pound is for losers.  You win passing the football in this league,  get the franchise QB and then add players around him.

It starts and end at the QB position,  this a QB driven league and we have not had an elite one in a long time. You could argue making the playoffs was a fluke,  free agents want to play for your team when they see that you have an elite QB.  I believe getting one of top 3 guys would be worth a season of losing next year because Brady's time is soon coming to an end .  Philly will be great team for years because of  Carson Wentz , remember ground and pound does not get it done.

Hey Niagara Dude:  Are we sure that there is a franchise QB in this draft?  Risk and reward must be reasonable.  I would give up our first 6 picks and next years first 3 for Aaron Rodgers because he's the real deal.  A lot of folks are gaga over this year's draft, but we would be bringing a rookie on to a team that is looking at 4-12 if we trade all of our draft capital   I would say target Oakland's pick to see if someone is still there, if not, use our 2nds for one of the second tier dudes.  I don't see this GM doing something with high risks.

I think people know he's great but want to get the best bang for the buck. If we trade him while his value is high rather than the downside of his career, we'll likely get more.

Not saying I'm a proponent of trading Shady, but nothing should be off the table.

That's my point.  He is one of the most valuable RBs in the NFL.  I was just throwing out would it be worth it to package him to get into the top 4.  A franchise QB might be with us 12 years, and Shady is gone in 2

  4. I really like the 7-10 range, but chips gotta fall just right.  Barkley and Chubb taken in top 4, Browns take Darden, Denver or Jets get Cousins ... then Mayfield, Rosen, and/or Jackson will slide.  I say target SF at 9, and give'em #21, Glenn, and 2018 or 19 2nd.  A similar deal would work with Raiders at 10.  We should keep a 1st rounder.  I think Rudolph and Allen could be had at 21/22.  Again, chips gotta fall just right.  Don't trade up for Allen because he's 3 years away.  If we don't get QB in 1st, draft a couple of the 2nd tier guys (White, Fergy, Lauletta) later.

    Me too.

I love them even when they make mistakes.

But we see last year differently. I have no interest in the playoffs. Didn't last year either. I want this team to be competitive for a Super Bowl title. Nothing less means squat to me. Last year's team was not good enough to be competitive for a title and frankly I wish they had lost more games instead and improved their draft position.

I'm glad for people who feel this was a monkey off their back. My monkey is still there and will be till we're truly an excellent team.

Thurman1, you are the man.  I agree 1000%.  I'm the guy who wanted to stay with NP, even if it meant losing every game thereafter.  I think the coach wanted to as well, but gave in to the vets.  Go Bills!!

I’ve heard this song and dance for 3 full seasons along with other fairy tales that Baltimore wanted to keep him and Denver wanted to sign him and on and on and on.

    Blame KB?

There was also an open receiver on a post route tor the opposite side of the EZ when TT passed to KB.

It was first down which left 3 other tries for Taylor to make a huge play.

Everyone gets the blame besides TT.

Maybe so, but my main point is that TT, NP, and a 2r QB are what we'll probably end up with, and I would contend provides a better chance of making the playoffs than most other options suggested on TBD, including using all of our draft capital for one of the golden boy rookies.  Cousins would almost guarantee a playoff run, but we won't get him.

It's been so bad, mediocre looks good

Yes,  TT has been the poster child for mediocre, but this past year should be no measure of what he is capable of.  It was a patchwork scheme on offense.   TT gets way too much of the blame.  It was KB who should be blamed for Jax lost.  An argument can be made that additions from draft and a healthy KB would retool for another run with TT taking snaps.  I can't say same thing with a rookie or any free agents, except Cousins.  I would like to see what NT can do, but he would have to beat out TT.  So, let's keep TT, NT and go get a 2nd round QB.

The order in which you build a team doesn’t matter. The hardest piece to get however is the QB. It takes 20% planning, 30% availability and 50% luck. The Bills have planned to go after one this year and there is a crazy amount of availability (comparatively). They need to get it right but the odds of getting a guy now are greater than they have been in the past.

So with this formula, trading the farm for a top QB is risky business and mostly luck.  Think of the 83 draft and how many QBs were taken before Marino.  He was taken at 27.  Maybe we get lucky at 21 or 22.  Does anyone think that any of these guys are sure things??

  9. Moved up to Buffalo from GA in mid-80s and lived in wife's parents' home while attending UB.  My 2 sons went to first NFL game in '86.  Been a family tradition since.  Probably Larry Felser, and Smerlas and Haslett on Monday night radio got me emotionally attached.  Loved those guys.  Me and my boys suffered through 4 SB loses in GA later, so we have to stick it out now.  We look forward to our trip to Bflo every fall.

The Schopp and Bulldog criticism is so played out.  They're good.  I live in Denver, which is a substantially bigger sports market than Buffalo, and the afternoon drive guys are the worst.  They have two guys, just like Schopp and the Bulldog, and one of them, former NFL linebacker Alfred Williams, posed the question a few weeks ago as to whether or not Martellus Bennett is a Hall of Famer.  It has become apparent that the only people who incessantly complain about Schopp and the Bulldog are people who have never left Buffalo and never listened to drive time sports talk radio in other cities, as to have a frame of reference.  They're good at what they do.  If I had one complaint, it would be that they always agree with each other (aka Bulldog doesn't possess the wit to argue with Schopp) and they never really have differing opinions.  But the dialogue is much smarter and high level than what you find here in Denver.  And NY sports talk radio is terrible also.  Relax with the Schopp and Bulldog bashing already.  Not to mention, this thread has been posted at least 50 times, this is nothing new.

This dude speaketh the truth.  Sports radio around Atlanta is sub par.  Here in the DC area, I don't think any are better than S&B.  Riggo is the best here but he only has an occasional spot.  I do agree that S&B should plan more topics where they are at each other.  I connect with their silly humor.

"Schneid," I believe. Googled it right now and it's from an old card game where you have to get off the Schneider.

Anyway, to me, no, not worth it.

I'd much rather have won four games and been right in the mix to get Darnold or Rosen at their natural spot or with a much smaller tradeup.

The end of the streak would have come. Good shots at great QBs don't come along all that often.

Yea I agree 100%;  however, I can see why my fellow fans went gaga over making the playoffs.  I got me some of that gaga too.  But the morning after, we were still in QB purgatory!!??  I would have preferred to have seen what we have in NP.   Maybe we would have still made the playoffs, and now would be having a different conversation about QB.  BTW, I do think NP would have gotten more than 3 points against Jax.
