  1. The summary is a yearly financial sheet. It is not short term. I put in the benefit of 1000 jobs...did you even read it? It's a loosing proposition to the local economy. If you want gambling say so. But again do not argue benefits from a gambling establishment.
  2. Let me summarize the issue. Construction costs and maintenance of facilities amortized = 10million 1000 employees with a 40,000 a year salary = 40 million. "Taxes or Profit Sharing" = 25% or revenue = .25*90 million = 22.5 million. Money for the Seneca nation = total revenue - outlays = 90million-(40million+22.5million+10million) = 17.5million So the local area gets the following - they start with 90million in expendable funds, they give 17.5 to the Seneca nation which removes those dollars from the area. Since construction firms do not exist in the local area nor do architectural and design firms, part of the construction costs is also taken out of the area....say 5million. That means that 22.5 million is no longer available for investment in the local area. You've just succeeded in making the area 22.5 million dollars poorer. You just bleed the area you call home of 22.5 million. You may say the 40million is money that will now be spent because 1000 people have jobs...but that money was already available for spending. There is no new money. The economy did not improve in the area. It only got worse by 22.5million. If you want gambling, fine. Say so. But don't argue that the area is benefitted by it. That's simply isn't true.
  3. You don't have to convince me, I think it's pedantic. I will still expect to see my Buffalo and Erie County property taxes increase every year.
  4. Buffalo has been losing its tax base for 3 decades. Any new business would be helpful. And some businesses more helpful than others. The workforce in Buffalo is not skilled enough for most modern businesses. There is a lack of technically skilled people and a lack of creative people. Information technology firms, marketing or advertising firms, biogenetic firms and financial institutions would need to import a workforce. But, I couldn't imagine anyone wanting to move to Buffalo for a job. There are no amenities in the city....other than bars; housing is not attractive either. There are still race wars going on. And whole sections of the city are crime ridden, in particular the entire east side of Buffalo. If the Senecas are allowed to open and run the casino, I doubt that there will be tax dollars generated from it. Generally, tribes do not have to pay taxes because of treaties. So, the best you can expect from the casino would be unskilled work positions and service industry postions. These types of jobs generally do not improve an economy. The money that is pulled out by the casino, is money not available for local businesses, taxes, savings, investments and entrepreneurial endeavors. So, the area will continue to be dummied down and you'll see more politicians like Giambra who embodies these problems.
  5. It just makes me wonder why anyone does business in Philly.
  6. Since the mullahs threw out over 1000 candidates for seats in their national assembly.
  7. I've seen $2.60-$2.90 around here.....that includes 82 cents of tax for Feds, CA and local.
  8. I think a lack of refineries causes gas prices to increase ... not oil prices. Oil prices increase as a way for the world to shoulder the burden of maintaining dictatorships in places like the middle east and Iran. It's a type of foreign aid.
  9. I guess you're too young to remember Todd Collins. Now that was terrible.
  10. I guess no matter which board a guy goes to, he'll run into cowards like eball, puhonix, rtconner, and hollywood donahoe. Mom and Dad didn't raise you to have manners? Your juvenile behavior is pretty good reason for this board to have so few posters. I guess in life you aren't amounting to much, since in this fantasy world of the board you sure do seem to want to be someone.
  11. From Mularkey...it sounds as if it is now possible. Before the OL lined up pretty tight so that the defensive ends couldn't cut between the guards and tackles. With Drew theydidn't have to have a disciplined rush. This year the OL are lining up wider and if the DEs try to cut inside, the coach says JP will just take it outside (which Drew wasn't able to do). So now in run situations if they line up wider, then the tackle can crash the interior of the defensive line...especially Mike Williams...and there is still enough room for the guard to make it out to head off the DE on running plays. I think the offensive is going to look very different this year.
