Lots of interesting stuff here.  I don't always agree with everything that comes from Warner but this looks pretty straight forward.  The ball needed to come out quicker and the short passing game needs much better execution.  Looked like a lot of plays were there.  I don't think the Bengal's defense was too much we just didn't execute well. That's just my take.

That was fun to watch, thanks for posting.

    Takeaways from my side were:

    - When the defense sends pressure, Josh often gambles. Instead of immediately taking the checkdown, he tries to get more. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. To "go by the book," he should decide to take the safety valve as soon as the D sends extra guys. The flip side of that is, he has made a career of running around dodging guys to buy extra time for a splashy play. To me it seems like a next step for him is knowing WHEN to extend a play and when to do less work and just take 7 yards.

    - Sometimes the play design didn't give Josh any safety valves. The D sent pressure AND covered everybody at least long enough. Such play calls leave him hanging out to dry.

    - This was a learning game for JA and the offense. unfortunately the learning game came during the playoffs.

This thread got really hostile. That's disappointing.

I expect the Bills players to show up and play, there's really no other choice, but I have no expectations about how well they will play. I think it will take one game to ramp up and get themselves 100% focused on the sport again. Against a team fighting for their playoff lives I'm not expecting a victory in that scenario, nor do I care about the outcome. I'll tune in just to watch the team show up as a unit and get the ovation they deserve.

Interestingly the league's decision on the Bengals game may impact our approach to this game. If the reports are correct that the Bengals game will be declared no-contest I would be fine if the Bills rolled into the Pats game with very little game planning and starting a lot of backups. Use week 18 as a pseudo bye week and hopefully get some good news on Hamlin over the next week. Then roll into the playoffs likely as the #3 seed with the team fully focused, rested, and able to think about something other than how their teammate's recovery is going. That to me is the ideal scenario.

I think they'll play, and ball out. The situation will likely make them hyper-focused rather than distracted.

If the league does cancel the Bengals game before this game, then you're probably right. Though I would be surprised if they rendered that decision right now. I think they'll wait for this week to play out first and see all the seeding implications, etc. I don't have the desire to calculate all the seeding scenarios, but lets say hypothetically after this week that the postponed game would have no seeding implications...then they could simply cancel it.

There’s another thread that lists out what the community of Buffalo and the Bills have dealt with over the past year…it’s almost unbelievable the amount of tragedy, turmoil, and just plain bad luck that has befallen WNY and our favorite team — and none of it self-inflicted.

The Bills have to feel mentally exhausted.  They’ve had to overcome so much, and now this.

I’m happy with their 3rd consecutive AFC East title and big wins in big moments.  Josh is “the guy” and will be for years to come, but the defense has been decimated by key injuries all season and when combined with the mental fatigue and trauma, I think it is just too much to overcome going forward.

I am proud of the team, the coaches, the fans, the community…proud to call myself a Buffalonian.

    Go Bills.

You're right in not holding expectations. It's a fool's game to hold expectations on a team as a fan anyway, with or without extenuating circumstances. But yeah, I have to admit myself I find it it extra irritating when fans are getting on certain player's cases (for not playing up to form) who have had some recent horrible traumas (Marcell Dareus comes to mind).

All that being said, they care a lot about football and competing for a championship so I'm pretty sure they will rally and use this as some sort of mission to "do it for Damar." At this point, the horrible event already occurred and he is receiving the best care he can get from the doctors. No one else can really do anything except offer prayers and support to the family.

  4. Some NFL players unfortunately just get the shaft. If they aren't able to show themselves for the first FA contract, they never get paid the mega dollars. Poyer falls under that category. He deserves more, but his extension just didn't time out right. I think if he was going to sign an extension here, it would have already been done. I appreciate that he's stayed totally committed to the team despite the lack of extension.

Zero snaps. 21 overall pick.  This late in season. After showing lots of promise before he was injured. ZERO snaps. With Toast Jackson in there. There is MORE to this story. What the hell could this be???

If there is, I guess we're not supposed to know 🤣

It could be anything, a tummy ache, an injury, a personal problem, testing out various different combinations and players in the backfield. I don't think there's anything to worry about, he'll be in there again at some point.

The Bills are not perfect though.

This is the same GM/HC combo that had one of the best Guards in the NFL on their roster and couldn't see it, so they traded him for a 5th (6th?) round pick. And the same duo that gave up a 3rd(!!!) round pick for Kelvin Benjamin. And the same duo that picked Cody Ford over DK Metcalf.

Im not sayng they're a bad duo (even the best make mistakes). I'm just stating that the Bills thinking they know what they're getting doesnt make them right.

This is the same GM/HC combo that drafted Josh Allen when everyone said he would never become an accurate passer.

This is 100% true even if those excuses are reasonable.

We simply need to do better and now that December is going to be upon there is absolutely and positively no room for bull####.

One reason I have hope after today falls in line with some of what is eluded to here. Today's game Josh went to McKenzie. He knows McKenzie and played with him longer than any other WR on the team. He had no other choice today than to force it to him and it showed several times. Why he didn't go to Diggs early, I don't know. Why he didn't go to Davis was clear. Davis was blanketed most every route by defenders (I suspect he's been figured out). McKenzie was creating just enough space today to make things work and Josh knew he could trust himself to throw the routes he knows McKenzie is running.

Well, but we won the games. ???? Justifications shouldn't even be needed. LOL

  8. We have tons of injuries, had a super difficult week last week, had to turn around on a short week and play this game, and came out with a win with 23 seconds on the clock.

Despite all the challenges this team has faced this season, we're 8-3 and winning games. I don't see how this team isn't deserving? For God's sake, this team just needs to get healthy and it will be crushing everyone again!

At this point there is nothing anyone can do about the inevitability of Mahomes and the Chiefs .Don't care about the Vegas stuff, they are the prohibitive favorites for anybody that is actually paying attention and it will be very surprising if they aren't in the SB again this year at minimum. You just get the feeling that this is going to be another Brady/Pats situation especially since the NFL seems determine to help make that happen which is going to sting even more down the road knowing we're the once that made it happen by trading with the Chiefs.

Either way even with the win there again this year everyone knew the margin of error was razor slim to hold the #1 seed and keep pace but that pretty much dissipated just a few weeks later as the Chiefs are undefeated since and Bills are a meager 2-2.  And it's a fantasy to think this team is going to win out while the Chiefs lose at least one more game. It's not happening folks.

    It could very well happen.

Am I the only one that thinks it is totally ridiculous that with the Trillion$ the NFL has, the Billion$ the Pegulas have, the Million$ the franchise has, and the Million$ these players have... they have to rely on Joe Blow from down the block to dig the players out and get them to the game?!?

Pegula needs to invest an easy $1M in a couple of humvees with plows, and a small fleet of snowmobiles, and keep them handy for when this happens again.

It shouldn't be up to neighbors risking heart attacks to get these Millionaires' driveways cleared.

Does seem totally ridiculous. Was it simply a fact that all plows were being used elsewhere?

But yeah, I'm guessing these good samaritans end up with some envelopes filled with cash. If they don't that's a big shame.

    I don’t know but i’m very discouraged.

KC won again, at the very last drive, like many times happened.

Kelce had 6, i said SIX receptions for 3TD and 115 yards, the last one was the dagger.

    Mahomes ridiculous stats as always.

Where could the Chiefs lose again ?

We lost to the mighty Vikings… they got DESTROYED at home by Dallas 40-3 !!!

Tennessee and Baltimore are always around.

In a season where we were the great take for the SB everything happened: injuries first, then Allen lost, then mistakes after mistakes that costed us a couple of games.

And now, if we find again our best football, the very chance to be another time in KC in the AFCC, not at home.

I can’t believe that everything go always fine for those pigs. Always ! 🤬

Sorry for this rant guys, but i’m very nauseated for all the “luck” we always DON’T have.

They sky isn't falling, it's just an NFL season.

Not a single team has shown that they can beat these Bills, just the Bills themselves.

Regarding the Chiefs, we beat them in their stadium.

Despite the rash of injuries to the secondary, Josh Allen's elbow, and just having gone through a week without practice, this team is still 7-3, and could be 10-0 without a few bonehead mistakes and a heatwave. If we can get a little healthier, sky is the limit. Can't wait to start watching blowouts again in a few weeks time.

First, yes, I'd say five yards is about right.  That's where he's supposed to make tackles.  He's literally a line backer.  He does not make tackles for no gain.

In the past he often had games where a lot of tackles were after a completion.  Those tackles were beyond five yards.  But Sunday he had very few of those.  His tackles were in the run game, and they were exactly the tackles he is supposed to make.

As for the pass break up, by all means he gets credit for a pass breakup.  He was plastered on the receiver, which is his job.

It's interesting how much people complain about him when he's doing his job.

Seems only fans complain about him. Starting every game (apart from injuries) since he's been here indicates the coaching staff values him highly.

He clearly has a very big responsibility in this defense that he manages well. I suppose whether or not he gets an extension depends on what the cheaper replacement options are....

  13. What's the rush? we're less than halfway through the season. Now we got to see a bit of him and I'm sure there will be more as we go. Plus, despite everything we keep hearing, Singletary is actually fulfilling his job very well, even though he isn't flying down the field for 60 yard touchdowns.

This offense is already dominant, we have the highest point differential in the league (at least I think we still do). When the RB gets the ball on this team, the #1 concern is ball security.

  14. All this talk about a running back trade is kinda like the rich guy who's just bored of what he already has and feels the need to buy a new OLED for his basement, a room where he only stores boxes.

Singletary is honestly playing very well and continues to improve. Gamebreaker? no; getting the job done, protecting the ball, and getting better? absolutely. Meanwhile he's providing that all on a cheap 3rd round rookie contract, allowing money to spent everywhere (ahem, Josh Allen) The FO knows what a bargain he is, and how that helps the rest of the team.

Unless some other guy comes up by chance for a super bargain (low round pick, AND cheap), I just don't see it anytime in the near future. I'd be more inclined to see future draft picks spent on RBs.

And let's not forget that we've got an unproven Cook sitting back there. Honestly speaking, none of us fans have any clue what he brings to the table at this point. Maybe he'll get set loose at the end of the season!

Clutch your pearls if that suits you.   Bad players getting jeered is part of the checks and balances of pro sports.

As a consumer,  if you stand for nothing you'll fall for anything and I don't think anyone wants to see would-be SB season come to a halt because a bad player just kept getting reps.

Bill Polian was criticized for not replacing the increasingly weak-legged Scott Norwood after the 1989 season.   He was then terrible in 1990.........bottom third of league in fg % and atrocious on kickoffs.   But Polian was stubborn and Norwood was his find.   He left an unnecessarily very weak link in the lineup and lost a SB because of it.

Maybe you will drive in from Cheshire for the post SB loss parade where the crowd cheers for the cryin' Lil' Dirty at the podium after he drops the winning pass.........I'd prefer we bypass that and get a W instead.

Fortunately, your "critiques" have no bearing on the Buffalo Bills or its collective decision making.

The distinction that you don't seem to understand is the difference between criticizing someone's performance vs. unfounded and rude personal attacks.

What do you hope to achieve? the entire crowd chanting "lil dummy" the next time he drops a pass? Would that make you feel better?

    Nope.

    He's earned it.

Dude fumbled 6 times on special teams as a rookie........10 times in Denver total counting preseasons before they finally had to cut bait:lol:.........has since kept fumbling and bobbling and making dubious decisions on special teams whenever given the chance..........then was critical of McDermott for benching him after his face-plant-fumble versus Indy last season.    He has proven to lack any self-awareness.   Hence Lil' Dummy.

It's not a coincidence that the ball gets turned over by fumble, interception or on downs(sometimes to end the game even) on so many of his chances..........he kills otherwise vibrant opportunities........which keeps scores closer and serves as a training weight for the offense.........hence the character builder.

    Agreed,

A well-liked, talented guy who has made some errors (like every human being) has not "earned" personal attacks and put downs.

    Do better.

I can't believe that people still want to talk about running the football.

agreed. it's just because the media keeps poking at our running game because there's nothing to criticize.

this team just needs to be able to run the ball when they have to. and as much as it would be wonderful luxury to have some elite running back added on this team, you just can't have it all. and said elite RB would likely be disgruntled and ask for a trade with his 5 carries per game.
