  1. I searched the forum already and couldn't find anything about this, sorry if it's a double post.

I just read about the Madden '24 Pre-order, which comes with a perk called the "Josh Allen Elite Player Item." Does anyone have a clue what this is???? I never pre-order games and never care about the perks they ship them with, but wondering if this is something that would be fun to collect.

in my searching around the internet I couldn't find an explanation either.

    many thanks!

  2. we've got the younger, fresher Cook already. He wasn't utilized that much as rookie, but you hear players on the team like Von Miller always talking about him....seems like the people on the inside see him breaking out.

  3. I'd be surprised.

Yeah it would be awesome right now, but then we'd have to kick more cap down the line, plus toss aside some of the younger prospects we just acquired. Going "all-in" doesn't guarantee a championship, and I think you've got a better chance and cracking the superbowl by having a playoff team every year for a decade.

Even as much as I LOVE Von Miller, I still question if that move is good for this team in the long-run or not. On the plus side, in addition to his play he does seem to have a big influence on the players around him, so maybe that's the intangible benefit.

  4. Can't think of a better pick for the Bills. LOVE IT.

If he's everything they're saying he is, and he lives up to it of course. Elite tight ends are rare, and look at what they do for the teams that have them. Defenses can't take these guys away, they're annoying as hell to play against.

I agree with the majority that a MLB at #27 in this draft is a reach.

But what if they do draft Campbell & he turns into this generation's Ray Lewis? I think we'd all be pretty happy.

You never know, half this board wanted Josh Rosen...

totally. plus, why should we really care who gets picked anyway? drafts are drafts...some players will be good, others will suck, and some will be just okay.

How much suffering are they really going thru. Not only do they have 6 Super Bowl championships, but they are currently watching their B's and Celtics in the playoffs. The B's are the favorite to Cup this year.

Well you certainly have a point regarding the fans that are into the other sports.

But regarding the football side of things, the past is the past. I'd much rather watch our Bills compete for a superbowl than watch Mac-douchebag Jones fart for four quarters, leading one of the NFL's most boring teams.

wow beane was great at the first draft but average in the last couple so surprised.

its not like he had more picks and early draft position in the first draft as compared to the rest.

that has nothing to do with it.

    ding ding ding!

Exactly why the draft was designed the way it was, give the losing teams a chance to get better players and the winners get the scraps.

Everyone knew that the scouts and GM would be fired.  Whaley didn't hire McDermott.

McDermott himself said he wasn't ready to draft a QB and wanted the new GM to be part of that process (he knew a new GM was coming)

Whaley...after saying they had worked on a trade for weeks, and knew they were trading out of the pick ,then says....but it's alway a possibility....well, yeah, in the sense that if they were at 10 and Mahomes was on the board...it was in fact, possible...and so was Watson, and Deshone Kizer, etc.

The Bills, were not in the QB market in 2017.

I mean plus this just makes sense....they wanted their new GM to be involved in one of the biggest franchise decisions. They did what was right for them, and they nailed it.

  9. Honest question for the board. Have there been many receivers who excelled in the slot as rookies or even second year players?

i ask because the best examples I can think of are veteran guys who excelled at the mental aspect of finding soft spots in various coverages.

Then I think about the Bills last year and the players who we tried to replace Beasley with, like McKenzie, who is super fast but was mediocre in that role.

  10. It's always a question of who is available, first of all. Also, I don't think any team drafts someone as a #2, they draft the best players they can, and hope they reach their best potential.

Therefore, I'd go against the grain on this one and say TE if there's a star potential guy there. Those guys are way rarer. If Kelce is an A+ tight end, Dawson Knox is a B+/A- at best. Imagine putting a Kelce or Gronk in his prime on this offense....JA wouldn't even know what an incompletion looks like.

  11. I always see it as pointless to try and rank players at the top like that. They're all a bit different with different strengths and weaknesses, play for different teams with different management, different climates, different coaching, different rosters.... Beasley could have made a comment about Rodgers being disrespected WITHOUT ranking him. Rodgers stands on his own with his own reputation.

We’ve won the AFC East 3 years in a row! Not the ultimate goal but it’s a great accomplishment.

Take a minute and appreciate it.

totally, football is just entertainment anyway. People seem to have forgotten that we were approximately 7-9 for 20 years lol.  Winning is fun, and having our team in the playoffs every year is also fun. A Super Bowl would be even more fun…but yeahhhhh.

My guess is his post had nothing to do with his contract at all and he only deleted it because his agent told him how it looks. Athletes have a life outside of football.

This could absolutely be true. I'm sure athletes are solicited for business deals, investments, endorsements, etc all the time....

The danger of social media....whatever you post gets "interpreted."

Nothing against the guy, but I feel you should spend 1st round picks on positions that cost a fortune, RB is not that.

I'm 50/50 on it. You're right, but on the other hand, RB is a position where a guy can step in and immediately make a big impact.

He isn't owning up to his biggest mistake and that is keeping Frazier on as DC.

I don't share the opinion that Frazier is a problem. His defenses historically rank at the top of the league, and that has not changed during his time with the Bills. Even with all the injuries this season, the defense performed extremely well.

I was saying early this year, pressure is ratcheting up on McD. Needed to make super bowl this year - team looked stacked early in the year. Now national media ( i think of all the talking heads - sims and florio are the most reasonable and legit ) starting to recognize McD and Beane arent getting the job done. Sims is a little more on the side of needing more impact players which I agree. I still think think the right move was keeping Daboll and leaving frazier and McD in kc parking lot after 13 seconds (and hous and kc playoff game poor D performances)

A year ago, everyone said the Bills had the best roster in the league. We had an unfortunate rash of injuries this season. Now we're going to lose some important players to free agency. At this point, yeah we need some roster improvements, that's clear.

Complaints about the coaching staff and front office? Total bull####. Any team that's winning their division and in the playoffs every year has a winning formula. As far as I'm concerned, as long as they have JA and they keep working at it, they're gonna crack through eventually. We can complain about the Chiefs all we want, but the way down is far. Fire McDermott and Beane? This team is more likely to end up back in 7-9 purgatory than win the Super Bowl.

For sure- had same jauron vibes. “We’ll we gotta look at the tape”

    ”gotta have faith”

”hard to win in this league”

except McDermott Bills broke the draught in his first season (ahem with less than stellar talent), went 13-3 last season, made the playoffs every season but one (Josh's rookie season), and reached one AFC Championship game.

Jauron's highlight season was what, 7-9?

Jauron was a walking ghost, McDermott is fired up and working his tail off, while owning up to mistakes and working to correct them. I just don't see any comparison between the two.

I think you are being a bit overly harsh here.  All teams sign guys like these.  And many of these guys were the early days where Beane was both a new GM and in the midst of having to clean up a mess of a roster and cap use by his predecessor.  And many of these were short term or 1 year deals with no future cap ramifications brought in to help field a competitive team without creating cap issues that would prevent the team from improving in the subsequent years.

Not to mention, several played key roles in high ranked offenses and defenses that helped us win our division, reach the playoffs, and win playoff games.  Guys like Morse, Sanders, Beas, Brown, Williams all started or played key roles in our offense that has been amongst the highest scoring in the league the past 3 seasons.  Guys like Addision and Star were starters on a defense that was ranked #1 in the NFL their last year here, and Phillips was good contributor for us this year on a defense than ranked #2 in the NFL despite the crazy slew of injuries to the defense.

Is every signing a home run, absolutely not, but no GM has a perfect record.  But Beane has a better track record than most.

I would also add, Beane has also done a good job moving on from players. Most of those short deals weren't extended, and he knew to let Lawson and Philips go when they were overvalued. This year is a bit more difficult with Edmunds and Poyer.

That would be awesome. I would prefer they utilize the limited resources wisely and don't see him as a necessary spend. The guy 6 years at BYU and 3 years with the Chiefs and done nothing. I would rather have a 21-22 yr old UDFA with better pedigree fight for this roster spot than a 26-yr old that has never done it at any level.

sometimes the guys without pedigree have to work harder and play better than everyone else to prove themselves. Maybe he's one of those guys.
