I just hope I'm not still talking about that game 17 years from now.
-
I just wish Sammy would get paid the right amount of money, that would make me happier as a fan.
And the right amount is how much exactly?
-
Trying to lead you to the water - so it's not about you making me feel better. The answer is they have a budding superstar QB.
What I'm trying to say is you're incorrect.
We probably agree more than you think. My point is that a lot of that 'superstar' talent comes from hard work. There's plenty of 'talented' people in every business who simply font put on the hours on the practice field or office. The NFL has been littered with them over the years. I submit that it's one of the major reasons why the Draft is such a crap shoot. They can measure just about everything but that.

Was anyone shocked to see that injuries would have 'some' impact on a team's performance? I don't see this chart telling me anything that I didn't already know.
I'm planning on doing my doctoral thesis on the daily diminished amount of sunlight at night.

So it has very little to do with Carr - his son is just now making everyone work harder?
There's no way you can possibly know Brady and Billy work harder than everyone they play - and that's only 2 people working harder even if that's true.
OK we'll go with your theory that they're just REALLY REALLY lucky? Yeah right!
By the way you can substitute 'work smarter' if the phrase 'work harder' bugs you that much.
-
I've lost all sense that either franchise even knows that's their goal!
-
Play the starters the 'normal' amount of time in preseason. You can't be scared of injuries. They happen in practice just as often as in games. The most important thing for this team is to gain confidence in the new schemes.

It take more than hard work in most businesses. A good product, timing, a little luck also play into most successful businesses.
The Raiders were a joke for 12 years after losing the SB - now they've been "working harder" the last 2 years?
Yes actually they have become much more disciplined as an organization following the passing of Al Davis.
Yes the Patriots outworked everyone to draft Brady in the 6th round.
OK you keep right on thinking that and we'll compare life results. Tom Brady was NOT a super star coming out of Michigan...but he and his Coach work harder than their opponents week after week. There were/are plenty of guys with more raw talent and athletic gifts but look at how Brady plays, eats, exercises, etc. When he's on the field it's pure business ALL THE TIME. There's no joking around.

Failed culture my butt!
It's called hard work. Winning organizations in EVERY business simply out hustle, outwork and out prepare over those that don't!
PS: Rex Ryan never outworked anyone his entire life.

I'm going to suggest that everyone wait to see how Tyrod does in a new offense. And apparently it's one that he's familiar with. If he improves then you'll know that is was more about the scheme than the skill set.
I'm really hoping the new scheme provides him with the platform to make quicker decisions and to throw the ball earlier. That's the main difference that I'll be looking for.

Fred Jackson can coach the Offense
Kyle can coach the defense
Jim Kelly for head coach
Make the whole thing into a Club Team! How bad can it get?

Quite a few years ago my dad and I flew into Buffalo for a Bills game on Sunday (Raiders? Bledsoe years). The Sabres played a preseason game the same night downtown. We went to both the same day. It wasn't as much fun as you'd think. We were exhausted by the third period. I'd much prefer games on back to back nights than both the same day.

Fitzpatrick would have a COMPLETELY different reputation and career if he could somehow stop from throwing late fourth quarter interceptions. It's been his consistent downfall.
I'll never forget being in Nashville for the final week a couple of years back. Titans were hanging in their with the Texans...but every single Titan fan sitting around us KNEW that Fitz would throw a pick on the final drive! And they were right. Nothing had changed from his time in WNY.
I've never really figured out why. He's reportedly to smart to panic.

It's pretty rare that there not be a 'weak spot' in a five man unit. I remember re-watching one of the Bills Super Bowls not too long ago and I honestly couldn't even remember the name of the Right Tackle.
-
That game is one of my all time favorite Bills memories. I watched it with my soon-to-be son-in-law, in a sports bar in Waikiki Beach at 7:00am Honolulu time. A great Bills win to start off my daughter's wedding day! (We each a Moco Loco...look it up.) Mahalo!

Where did this same article rank Rex Ryan last year?
-
So in conclusion
The Bills didn't have a good enough defense to make up for an average offense...
And the Bills didn't have a good enough offense to make up for an average, and often below average, defense.
Result: 8-8 at best

I seriously doubt that Cowboys fans would list Tony Dorsett ahead of Emmit Smith.
-
Very interesting stuff.
I think some of the trends you cited may be because the teams themselves do this same sort of research and therefore they end up drafting players that fulfill these preconceptions.
-
And the alternative is what? Silent reading? Meditation?

If the average life span of an NFL career is five years you're bound to see ELEVEN new players each season. Add to that a few short term veteran free agent acquisitions and a couple of 'normal' injuries and that number will go up fast!
-
The concept of a surprise cut is clearly lost on many of you. There's no reason to respond with all the logical reasons why the player would NOT be cut! It's the lack of logic that makes it a surprise. Sheesh
To my way of thinking a 'surprise' would have to come from any of the veteran starters still on the roster from last year.

I'm actually most impressed with his 'brain work'. His interviews have been nothing short of astonishingly poised for a Guy of his young age and experience. I can't imagine how few interviews he would've given in college but he sure seems really comfortable when facing a face full of microphones. Here's hoping he plays even half as well as he answers questions!
Biggest Hole on Depth Chart?

Depth chart? I'm just as worried about the starters. I've got a feeling this is going to be a LONG season!
