Ironically Sal C on WGR this afternoon was saying since he covers the team the word is the Bills are probably taking a TE very high in the draft maybe even 1 if a guy like Dalton Kincaid drops to them

That’s a misdirection by the team IMO, so they feed to the beat reporters to put out in the world. We didn’t hand out that Knox contract to throw a #1 pick at a TE. We just want other teams to keep picking QB,CB,TE because we aren’t going there round 1 and might like everything else.
It certainly appears we need OL,DL,LB,WR,S a whole lot more in those first 3 rounds.

  2. Parham is highly athletic and would make our 2 TE sets dangerous. We don’t need him to be on the field as much as Knox. Beane is kicking tires on a prove it deal, as he should. BB can always do his favorite 2 year with the second voidable. I remember hearing about Morse being done with concussions 6 years ago and he is still playing at a high level if not better and he plays every down head to head.
This kind of deal gives us huge formation flexibility and lets us focus our draft on other needs.

Even Chicago is getting a dome come on Buffalo

Chicago has an 11 times larger population, has a city larger than Buffalo less than an hour drive down the highway (Milwaukee) and is building an entire entertainment complex next to the dome because it’s already in the top 5 cities for conventions. Buffalo is not that type of a city. A dome in Buffalo will not generate enough revenue there. In Chicago the dome could be used literally for 150 close to full capacity events a year. Bands that play soldier field now for 2 dates and sell out in minutes will now be playing a dome for 4-5 dates because winter and sports limits their ability to play here. Chicago is basically a hub of the Midwest and people will travel here, unlike Indy.

  4. Love the move and also love that Beane again identified his true value and said go check out the market like honey badger did last year and you will see you are being compensated fairly. That’s what happened when big money wasn’t being thrown at him.Miami was just trying to raise the rates publicly when they probably just offered him 8million thinking he was taking a warm weather discount.

I remember the day when we sucked and the best part of the season was the free agency period when we’d overpay to bring in some declining big name player and hope would spring anew

I’m glad those days are gone and we have a GM who swings for the fences from time to time but also doesn’t feel the need to make the fans happy with splash free agency signings right off the bat.

My gut says they are pushing for Wagner to fill the gaping LB hole then we will fill the other holes with mid-range free agent signings before the draft. I don’t expect a big WR trade but wouldn’t mind it.

This is so true. I really hope it’s not Wagner. He can’t cover now and this division will eat him alive because of it.

I'll be surprised if they go guard in round 1.  It's kind of like RB.  We can (or, put better, should be able to) find guys later (the Saffold failure notwithstanding).  Better roster management probably is to take a tackle and then kick Dawkins into guard if the tackle we find is equal to Dawkins.  Would leave us with a cost-controlled LT and the ability to either trim Dawkins's pay or say adios to what then would be that $15m guard.

I'm not against drafting for RT in round 1, but I suspect they're going to look at Brown's play last year as a reflection of his health and gamble that one of Brown/Doyle can lock that job down this year.   And, from a long-term roster management perspective, we really need a WR who can start no later than next year.  Davis likely is gone, and the slot play last year speaks for itself.

A Guard who can play center in the future will be a day 2 pick. There are some decent ones. As far as Davis, when you see guys like the Pats’ Meyer signing for $11M for 3 years it truly makes you wonder what Gabe’s actual value is. I know someone might pay him 16/17 but his worth is well below that right now based on production.

That’s what I thought. I thought they were gone from the disaster that is the City of Chicago? This is just a desperate attempt from the city to pressure them to stay. That mayor is a gong show, destroyed that city.

Please stop being rude Pete. The 10 million people who live in this area certainly don’t believe in the propaganda about how awful Chicago is. Keep your political theories out of this forum.

  8. OpEd , FYI- I live in Chicago. This is NOT the stadium plan and is not approved. This is a counter proposal to keep them in the City (which is really cool by the way.)  The Bears already purchased 300 plus acres of the now closed Arlington Racetrack in the western suburbs by the train lines and highways where they plan to build a dome and full entertainment complex on. The city doesn’t want to lose them but basically it appears they didn’t put any money or changes necessary to retain them and has not put any competing proposal or money on the table. It appears they are leaving the city and it’s a done deal. This video is an architectural firm putting a proposal forward but it has no backing by any formal government group or funding that I am aware of. It’s been circulated as a PR device but not as a true representation of the future. It appears no one is backing the $ for it in the city and even when it was shown on local news it was represented that way.

Hopefully he learned his lesson with Saffold. Both David and Wagner would regress off a cliff with the Bills.

Totally disagree on David. Anyone who saw him last year could see signing him to a 2 year bridge deal until we figure out who our next starter is. He is a huge upgrade over Tremaine. Saffold was never in the same stratosphere with David.

  10. Who wants to give a highly guaranteed deal to some guy who had been largely hurt for 2 straight years and gets hit constantly and is a run first guy? Zero takers on that Lamar! His ego is self restricting his own value. Every year his value will go down because every year he gets older and farther away from his MVP year and it’s quite likely he will have more leg injuries. He’s blowing it and I will bet he will become a cautionary tale of what not to do. He thinks he is standing up for his rights because he doesn’t want an agent getting a slice but in reality it’s all about ego and not wanting someone to tell him what I just said. He needs to get the long term big money deal while he still can.

If it wasn’t real they would’ve kept Tremaine imho.

No it means the cap is “loosely real” (ask KC and New Orleans and Dallas) when you have an owner willing to pay up front bonuses, and the Bills are still sticking to value by position and no MLB in this league is worth 18million unless he is the best in the game. Lavonte will be at 11 or 12 and is an all around better player and has showed up in the playoffs.

  12. Notice there are already 3 safeties signed and not one of them is named Poyer? Notice Po is now being told he is only worth 11 which is what Buffalo told him and he is begging for 3-4 more in incentives. Now he is just begging for term and/or incentives because if he signs for the same thing the Bills paid him he just looks like a bad guy for leaving town for the same money he just made. No one will be paying him his 14-15 million. He is learning the lesson honey badger learned last year and Beane told him so last year. His wife just needed to learn the same lesson. She’s behind the drama.

  13. Rodgers is telling the Jets he wants Lazard or he won’t sign with them. He is running the show. He also wants them to sign Cobb now. The $h@t show has begun. Green Bay wants him gone because of his massive cap hit if he retires. I hope he retires and screws them both. He pulls stunts every year.

  14. $20/yr is a joke. He might get 16.5 per at a 2 year deal with extra incentives for yards, catches, games played, and pro bowl, afc champ, Super Bowl bonuses, etc. but I would only guarantee a % of it based on X number of games played. You have to figure if JuJu is getting 16 he should easily get that.
