FWIW, that deep throw to Matthews was there if Tyrod threw it to the back-shoulder.

Come to think of it, I don't remember a Bills' QB throwing a back-shoulder stop-route anytime in the last 5 years.

John, you think everyone can go deep.

I agree I havent seen it either. Matthews has the frame for that and enough speed to threaten enough over the top that it would be there when ever you want. Same goes with Zay. I dont expect the chemistry needed for that throw to be there with Matthews. To a lesser extent same goes with Jones. Much of the offseason and preseason he role was not definded until a few a weeks ago.

  2. Looked great?

Not nearly as good as last year. They had a few nice runs but I wasn't all that impressed with the ground game. Too many stuffs/tackles for losses/1 yard gains. Maybe I'm spoiled from the last two years of great rushing attacks. That said, Tolbert actually looked decent.

Tyrod was Tyrod outside of one turnover that may or may not have been on him. I like Tyrods game. Always have.

Poyer was impressive. Tre White was as well.

Take it all with a huge grain of salt. It's the Jets. They are gunnin for #1 overall.

Yea. Still thinking 5 to 6 wins this year.

You are reaching. The jets defense still pretty well inplace stone walled buffalo's rushing attack the last 2 years. Two years ago shady went over 100 on thursday night but that was it.

  3. It is the NFL, the bears and browns played tougher ATL and PIT then the Jets did against BUF. They left 2 scores on the field. In the 4th milked the clock and moved on. The jets have been planning for months to shut down our run game we ran for 179. Last year we got gashed by the run and lit up by the quick passing attack. The Bills handled both. Yes the Jets are not very good. But also buffalo handled them as such.

  4. If you remember, it was the same last year, with a certain segment around here moaning about the loss of Karlos, and who was this Gillislee guy and the Bills running game was doomed if Shady got nicked. I believe Tolbert and Junkyard will pick up where MG left off. In any case, I will let them play a game or two before I lose my mind.

    Yes this is absolutely right.

Except, that 2 mil in incentives would have been better spent dividing that production between McCoy and MG rather than asking McCoy to carry more burden to earn considering McCoy isn't the picture of durable in the NFL and consistently deals with injuries hampering him a few games or causing him to miss a game or two.

MG should have been kept, he could have been a guy who take over for McCoy in a year or two if McCoy slows down or we trade/cut for cap reasons. Not retaining MG was one of the moves that had me scratching my head given how good he has been here and how cheap he was, especially on a team dependent on running the football, its the strength of our team the last 2 seasons.

I do not agree with that assessment. He has not shown the ability to be a feature back. He is not a replacement from Mccoy. He is a severe drop off from Mccoy. This year or next they will draft a guy to replace Mccoy. Banyard, Tolbert, and will more than make up for gillislee.

I could be wrong, but I don't remember Kyle as ever being particularly vocal ever in pre-season when I don't believe the players are required to be part of media access:

"Beginning no later than the week prior to the opening of the regular season through the playoffs, each club will open its locker room during the normal practice week (based on a Sunday game) on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to all accredited media for player interviews for a minimum of 45 minutes."

I can't imagine Kyle volunteering to field extra questions about whether or not the Bills are tanking, are the coaches/McBean trying to eradicate all the players from the previous regime etc. that would be like volunteering to clean bus station bathrooms or something.

As for 'blatantly showing they don't intend to try to win:, I guess "blatantly showing" must be in the eyes of the beholder. I'll wait and see what goes on the field. IMHO the "blatantly showing they don't want to win" took place when the Bills ran onto the field under Rex, despite all the "winning the off-season" and rah-rah-sis-boom-bah beforehand.

I cant remember a time where players cut did get picked up elsewhere. Obviosly, Ragland and Jones did fit the new systems. Instead of cutting them they traded them for something.
