  1. He clearly has Narcissistic Personality Disorder and when you view all of his decisions through that lens, it all makes sense. Criteria: I think he basically goes 9-for-9
  2. Very strong “check his basement for bodies” vibe. Makes this the least surprising news ever:
  3. He has always been, and will always be at his core, a conman.
  4. You do realize that Florida is still counting ballots, right? And Ohio? I’d be surprised if any state was done counting at this point. There are problems with laws that prevent pre-canvassing, sure. But the real problem here is liars and idiots pushing false narratives that make the ignorant believe falsehoods like there was an issue with the Maricopa tabulation machines. I agree that the states should change their laws to process votes faster, but I place the blame more on the liars.
  5. In 2016, the people on the Right called out liberals surprised by Trump as being in a bubble and they were right. I think the shoe is on the other foot now.
  6. Somehow, the Dems still have a (very small) chance at the House. https://twitter.com/baseballot/status/1591592405567954945?s=46&t=ZDt5DruStxOgheMLp6Qk6w
  7. I think crypto is a scam and I’ve long thought it was a Ponzi scheme. The idea that the people involved were either idiots, scumbags or both is not surprising in the least.
  8. Believing in a scam like crypto isn’t inherent to any party. In fact, his business partner and CEO of an FTX subsidiary was one of the top 15 GOP donors.
  9. Wow. Just, wow. I wish I had less of a conscience because I could probably make a good chunk of change off of someone as gullible as you.
  10. How do you think we should combat the misinformation and ignorance that leads people to believe falsehoods like 2,000 Mules and that the Maricopa County tabulation machines were broken this week?
  11. I don’t see anyway a GOP Rep voted for Nancy. She is too toxic for the brand, even for moderates. I’m not sure what the Dem strategy will be. Likely, they will be focused on their internal leadership which is grossly overdue for change. However unlikely it would be, them nominating Cheney or Kinzinger would be a lot of fun, though.
  12. I get that. And if one’s goal was to fix what they viewed as a problem, they should conduct a root cause analysis or study. If the problem is elective abortions, then we should ask: why are people getting elective abortions? There are likely many different reasons and I know there are studies on this very topic as well. If we’re not addressing the root causes of a problem, we’re are only treating the symptoms and not solving the problem. Best part is, many liberals would support policies combating some of the root causes, so there’s bipartisan potential there.
  13. If the concern was truly about elective pregnancies, the GOP would push root cause mitigations. But it’s not, so they don’t.
  14. This is how you know someone is a bad faith actor. We know there was absolutely no issue with the AZ tabulation machines. The printers were not properly calibrated. This was quickly fixed and voters were able to cure their ballots so they could be tabulated. The myth has been fully debunked but bad faith actors push the narrative that there was an issue the tabulation machines because they know gullible people will react emotionally and believe it.
  15. The head of Maricopa County is a Republican but I guess he’s throwing the election to the Dems for… reasons? Or could it be that uneducated people on the internet are jumping to conclusions because their ignorance and laziness prevents them from actually looking into the facts? Here’s some helpful info: How Maricopa County defeated election disinformation — for now For what it’s worth, we had a somewhat similar issue here in Chicago. The sharpies tended to bleed through the ballot paper onto the back, which caused issues scanning them. My wife had to cure her ballot because of this. Took an extra 15 minutes but was otherwise not really an issue.
  16. I appreciate you proving my prior point. Thank you!
  17. Similar to Nevada, Arizona needs to look at its election laws before 2024 and make some changes. There is no reason mail-in ballots can’t be canvassed and prepped or even counted, before Election Day. It appears that there is a significant lack of civics education in this country leading to complete ignorance of how things actually work, and I commend you for continuing to remind us of that.
  18. I have a hard time seeing McConnell go down. He’s probably the most brilliant tactical and strategic mind in the Senate since LBJ. Who is going to take him down? Little Marco? That guy from Florida whose plan for the midterm was to tell everyone he wanted to raise their taxes? I think the most likely outcome for him is that he decides when to hang it up and transitions the leadership to Thune.
  19. Sure, and he should be given more deference than the average owner because of that. But it doesn’t change the fact that adding $1 billion in extra costs and fostering a chaotic environment that increases brand risk is not a good strategy for running a company whose income is almost entirely from ads.
  20. Looking forward to the new Dominion Voting Machines, News, and Pillows Company.
  21. I very much don’t want Twitter to fail. I enjoy using it. I would love to be wrong here. I just think that Musk is a finance guy who has convinced himself that he’s an engineer and doesn’t understand what Twitter actually is.
  22. Easy. Advertisers are small-c conservative and just want a place to put their ads in front of people’s eyeballs without harming the brand. Agree or disagree with Twitter’s content moderation approach, it was fairly stable and predictable. Brands didn’t need to worry too much about unpredictable chaos or negative blowback to their ads. Had Musk simply come in and tweaked the content moderation policy towards something you would probably find more favorable, there probably wouldn’t be much backlash from the brands. However, he severely overpaid for the site and now has to make debt service payments that are bigger than Twitter’s annual revenues. To do that, he had to layoff large swaths of employees, including those whose primary job was brand safety. In addition, instead of spending time testing and tweaking new features to ensure they wouldn’t negatively impact the environment, the new Twitter Blue was rushed to market with deep flaws that would endanger brand safety. Instead of recognizing that this is exactly the kind of unpredictable environment that brands do not want to be a part of, Musk doubled down, stating that they would continue to try different things and some would be dumb. Applications have dev environments and test environments so you can do stringent testing on any new code or features before pushing to production. Instead, it looks like Twitter will just test everything in prod, causing further chaos. Brands like boring stability. Musk is pushing Twitter towards more chaos. That‘s why brands are leaving. Just another strawman from someone who apparently can’t read.
  23. Sure, keep telling yourself that. If you believe that Elon’s ownership of Twitter is going to end well, I have some crypto you can buy.
  24. Omnicom, one of the world’s biggest ad firms, representing brands like McDonald’s, Apple, and PepsiCo, is recommending clients pause spending on Twitter, according to an internal memo obtained by The Verge. “The memo cites the deep layoffs of Twitter trust and safety teams, the resignations of high-profile executives, and the slew of “verified” impersonation accounts as being key issues for advertisers. There is “evidence that the risk to our clients’ brand safety has risen sharply to a level most would find unacceptable,” the memo reads. “We recommend pausing activity on Twitter in the short term until the platform can prove it has reintroduced safeguards to an acceptable level and has regained control of its environment.” No surprises there. Odd that they didn’t list liberal boycotts as one of the reasons though…
  25. I have a real hard time seeing McCarthy being able to whip 218 votes if he only has a couple of seats for a margin. Scalise is already gunning for him and others will likely sense weakness. As much as the Dems losing the House will suck, the silver lining will be the chaos of the GOP tearing itself apart.
